    Wow, 4 years & no falls & then 2 in 2 days! That was a hard hit too, you were flying when it happened! Nice carving too, so much harder than it looks! Have you come off the SwellTech yet? Really keen to some footage of you riding it! :)

      Hi Martin, I guess I've been pushing it a bit harder lately and look what happens. The first fall was on the SwellTech. I'm stoked that I was able to bounce back so quickly. More SwellTech vids in the near future!

      Yeah, it was a quick fall and when I watch it I think how fortunate I was not to get seriously hurt. That was my toughness test for 2021 and I passed! Seriously though, I need to wear a helmet and pads for these types of downhill runs. Thanks for watching Josh!

    Hiya Bill, Finally made the time to check out this video. Whew! Wipeout with a little speed, eh? Ouch! Man that road rash stings, doesn't it? Glad to see you survived without too much trauma! Looks like you are well on your way in the healing department. I had a fall at speed on my bike a couple of years ago on a packed crusher dust type path and my head bounced off the ground twice. I was SO glad I had a helmet on in that case.
    I haven't smacked my head skateboarding yet since I started again but I've used every other piece of safety gear that I have on in the series of falls that I've had and was once again glad I had my knee and elbow pads and my wrist guards on! My last fall really tweaked and bruised my right hip and that took a while to heal. I haven't been out since because of an injury that I sustained surfing to my right foot and that injury is STILL causing grief to this day.
    I've been checking the shop where I bought my board for hip pad shorts and will probably pick up a pair of those before I go skateboarding again. I'm always trying tricks and I fall every time I go out and skate these days. I read all the comments here and I TOTALLY agree with you on the watersports aspect of sport life...SO MUCH MORE FORGIVING when you wipeout!
    Glad you're still in one piece and kudos to you for the effort you put in in going to the surfskate party with your injuries and for not taking out the girl who cut you off! You're a trooper dude! Cheers, John 😉✌

      I think I was going a bit too fast when I passed the camera and just had to lean and turn hard. The wheels started slipping and bam! On the ground fast. I really did try to not hit my head and land on my butt. It turned out better than I expected. Stoked that I captured it on film! I guess full gear including hip pads is the call. I was only limping around for 2 or 3 days and the road rash never hurt after the first day. I hope you get all healed up too! I want to see some more skateboarding and surfing vids from the Canadian Maritimes dude! Take care John and Aloha!

      @@billythephoenix My foot is feeling a lot better and I want to get out on my board again soon. I'm settled in to my new job so I'm feeling a little more relaxed about getting out on the skateboard again. Hopefully I'll be able to get a pair of padded shorts soon and be able to get back on the wheels.
      I wanted to go surfing last Sunday but it was blowing a gale and so I flew my stunt kite instead...presently working on the RUclips video of that adventure.
      As far as surfing videos go, I'm very quickly running out of time and temperature, plus I vowed not to shoot any more surfing videos of me until I started making turns and that hasn't happened yet. My channel might get a little dark for a while after the kite video as the seasons change. I'd love to get out skiing this year as a couple of the surf group guys want to get out this year too. We'll see what happens.
      I've been having some camera issues too. When I was out shooting the kite video, BOTH of my cameras lensed steamed, fogged or condensed water on the inside. 🤬 I'm getting pretty sick of that issue. I even had both of my cameras in a bag of desiccant in hopes to dry out the internals so they wouldn't fog up again! Didn't work...I don't know what else to do!??? Even shoved a bag of desiccant right into the battery bay of both cameras and put them in sealed bags with more desiccant in the bags...
      Anyhow, I'm enjoying your surfskate videos in the meantime and here's to hoping you stay "upright" and keep making more...Yeewww! 🤙🛹👍

    Man I hate falling, cruising around I tend to not wear my gear. I hate those road rash scabs too ask they take too long to heal. Cool ending cut bro. Ok so some light gear and a comfy cool helmet. Not just a lid but a comfortable cool to wear helmet and if you like it’s look BONUS lol. I would be hard pressed to wear my helmet any wear other than parks and ramps but always have my hand wrist guards on. Been using hip/butt pads under my pants too at parks and saves the hips. I’m a skinny dude so I bruise bone easy and my hips and butt always are a part of my falls lol. Wifey had a super scary fall backwards that I won’t post or edit (couldn’t stand to watch it freaks me out) that if she had not had a helmet on we would have been calling 911…. Yikes impact on pavement is no joke!

    • @billythephoenix
      @billythephoenix  3 года назад +2

      I hate falling too! I think a cool comfy helmet and pads is the ticket. I will also look into hips pads as well. Good call bro! Kelly's fall sounds as though it could have been one hell of a lot worse. Her helmet did what it's supposed to do. I also need to get full gear for Lori too. No better way to say I love you, than a helmet and pads for a 50 something! I know what I'm getting for her birthday on Nov 4th. Bottom line is we need to take extra special care of our ladies and not push them into something to fast and beyond their abilities. The risk isn't worth it, I definitely don't want to be calling 911

    • @boisebroncoadventures
      @boisebroncoadventures 3 года назад

      @@billythephoenix totally!! You won’t regret a comfy cool lid. Especially when at parks! Maybe consider looking at some MTB padding too as it is a little less to wear, sleeves Vs giant pads and still offer decent protection. Be comfy and look good. The flexible material like on the Troy Lee pads would be perfect for non skate park skating. I need big knee pads to slide on when I’m at a park but not skating with my dog right? It’s a balancing act for sure, and no such thing as to much gear. Different set ups for different sessions period. I always wear my roller blade wrist hand guards even when just practicing an Ollie in the garage on a rainy day!

    Glad you are alright Billy! For my last road rashes, I used 3M Tegaderm Roll for the first time. I had to exchange my ellbow band-aid 2x because the soore kept oozing -but it worked. It took 14 days to completely heal. I had a rash on my ancle, I did not use 3M for. Just to see if it takes longer to heal. That ancle road rash took 7 days longer. In addition, the rashes I used the band-aid for stopped hurting right away plus I could take a shower without getting the rashes wet. That said, when going downhill slides are bound to happen. Best way to practice them is smooth concrete and tight tuns at low speeds. First slides seem scary but the way I see it -they are the most fun part ever. Same as spray when surfing or surfing on rail.

    • @billythephoenix
      @billythephoenix  3 года назад +2

      Thanks Dan! I just read about the 3M product you recommended. Sounds like I should have it in the first aid kit. About those slides, that is something I'd love to practice and they do look fun once you get them dialed in! Btw, I keep checking on your channel to see if you uploaded any content and nothing. I was getting a bit concerned but here you are. I hope all is well in your part of the world, Billy

      @@billythephoenix Thanks bro! It has been raining a lot lately. Finally, I've got the footage I wanted and will be able to post this coming week. In addition, I have been setting up many different builds - and I am still onto it : ) Looking for the perfect surfskate that can do it all. A surfskate cruiser, that can be used for commuting, free riding, park skating and downhill carving. Nimble enough to do cutbacks and super deep turns yet stable enough for hanging 10. Lightweigt and as good as maintenance free. Crazy lean and awesome turn - but still a fast pumper. Of course pushing has got to be easy. My latest build looks like I am finally getting there. Will post soon - I promise!
