    Very touching moment in the entire series. Travis funnel said in an interview, that Ragnars character yearns to return to his roots. And be a simple man again. And this scene shows that he has gone as far as he wants to go and doesn't want the responsibilities of a king no more.

      @DragonC07 I don't think it was every explicitly stated. But there are moments where he relishes it and you can see its desirable for him. The biggest moment i can immediately think of is when he first meets Jarl Borg. And Borg says "you are the famous ragnar" and ragnar has a big smirk.

    • @Ellie-qv4pu
      @Ellie-qv4pu 3 года назад +17

      No he never wanted fame, he just wanted to sail west! He had fame because the people admire him and most of all he became king because of the people around him. Ragnar is like Ubbe in the end, Ubbe represents Ragnar alot. Ubbe at season 6 discovers a land that his father wanted before fame and fulfilled his father's dreams without becoming a king.

    What Ragnar feels in this scene resonates with all of us one some level. We all crave for ambition, fame , power, money... but we realize too late that the most precious moments of our lives are with our families and friends. And in today's time becoming successful has turned so obsessive that we forget that a simple live is also a good life.

    I can relate, I went through something similar. We both ended up with others, yet I got a phone call from her crying 9 years later after not talking or seeing each other that whole time. Was a pretty hard conversation to have. She was now married with 2 kids, I had one myself. She miscarried 2 that we should have had together. I’m guessing both of us regret the turns we ended up taking, but we set each other free and maybe we’ll get it right and be together in the next life. I still think about her daily, and can feel that she thinks of me, I don’t know why, I just know she does. Lightning doesn’t strike that hard not to.

    he never wanted to become an earl, nor to become a king, it was "other people's actions" like what he said... all he wanted to do was to sail west, not to get famous over his unimaginable journey that a mad man would only take, no! it was to take treasures and all the valuable so that he can help his family and make them rich, so that he can feed his family, and to be able to give them a good life, like what every father would do, and desires to do for thier family! in this episode tells it all, he just wants his old life back, but its all in the past, theres nothing else he could do but to flow along that river, to move forward! Travis Fimmel is an exceptional actor!!

    This scene proves Lagertha was always the love of his life, his soulmate, no matter what. Ragnar loved all of his sons more than anything, but Björn always hit him different. @@worson8934 Oh lord, are you serious??? Dude, please! AHHAHAHA Lagertha never cheated on Ragnar. She was with Rollo before being with Ragnar. IF (wich I dont believe) Bjorn was really Rollo's son, that means Lagertha was already pregnant when she started her relationship with Ragnar. Thats why Rollo said Lagertha didn't know if Bjorn was really Ragnar's son. But I really coudn't care less about that. That means nothing to my opinion about Ragnar and Bjorn relationship. Everything started when a fan pointed that Bjorn could be Rollo's son because of his previous relationship with Lagertha. The series decided to take that to the script so they could have a plot twist after Ragnar's death. This wasn't even part of the story before the fandom starting the gossip. Ridiculous.

    Just imagine if ragnar didn’t sail west he would’ve never became earl he would never have met aslaug bjorn would probably be a normal farmer. This whole show would’ve not even existed. Rollo would also stay in kattegat

    This scene resonates with me. It shows that whatever we go for in life, nothing - not even a kingdom and fame - is worth jepordizing true love and your family. Those always come first.
    And if you make it to the top, but lose them in the process, then there is nothing that can truely fill that hole.
