I enjoyed looking at this video. At one time I thought that I might like trying to do bonsai too but my interest came much later in life when other events were forming me. Now I don't have the luxury of space to work on these wonders but maybe I should try to find something I like and see if I can continue to grow it very slowly to represent my passing years. Thank you for this presentation.

Absolutely, you might look into Mame size bonsai. They are 4 inches tall or smaller. Keeping One tree that is very healthy and beautiful is better the many trees that are struggling. Just an idea for you.

It’s been a privilege seeing not only Ryan’s trees and garden evolve, but also witnessing the evolution of a new branch(pun intended) of a craft develop - With Mirai taking the torch from people like Dan Robinson, David Crust and Randy Knight and showing us America’s take on this art form.
I don’t imagine a lot of people understood what Ryan really meant when talking about the American Bonsai aesthetic 8 years ago. And yet today it’s all clear.

I just saw Trees and other entanglements on HBO Max. Then I went and found your RUclips channel and your Instagram and your webpage, your work is incredible, beautiful and captivating beyond words. I have a very small bonsai tree that I’ve had for a year. It’s nice to have someplace to go to get some information on how to continue to care for it. I look forward to following you on RUclips. But I do have one question ….please tell me that Baker is still with you and continuing to heal and grow.

I appreciate your love of bonsai. But taking trees from public lands is illegal; it's poaching. Harvesting trees out of US Nat'l Forests, Nat'l Parks (like Crater Lake), Nat'l Monuments, BLM lands, and State Parks is illegal. Cord wood can be taken, as can limited quantities of berries, nuts, etc, but only for personal use. The whole point in creating these special lands was to protect them against commercial harvesting. You have very old trees, that Nature sculpted over centuries, and you display them as though they are stylized bonsai? Unless you've been harvesting from private property at alpine elevations (7-10,000 ft), which is unlikely, you've been stealing national treasures, for commercial profit. Respectable bonsai masters have been moving away from yamadori collecting, acknowledging its destructive impact on the aesthetics and ecosystems of Nature. Why aren't viewers talking about this?

For u to go back to north america and not change bonsai here would be a failure. Big words, but u ryan without a doubt in anyones mind 100 percent have already started to accomplish that goal if not have already. And u kno if kimura seen what u have done here so far i think hed be proud. Props to u and the mirai team for all the work u guys put in. We need all the inspiration we can get . 🦴👁 on !
