  • This video answers the questions - What is a pip? What is a price spread? How to read the market price?
    Hi, I'm Luke from Disciplined Trader and I put this video together to help beginner traders with some of the most common questions such as:
    What is a pip?
    What are price spreads?
    How to read the market price?
    How to measure price movement?
    What is a tick?
    What is a point?
    Understanding these concepts and terminology can be confusing when you are first learning to trade.
    I also give examples when providing explanations to make it easier to under. For example, when I am answering the question "what is a pip?", I go through a Forex pair example to demonstrate exactly what a pip equates to.

    I'm getting back into the market with after a long absence (GME has my appetite wet), thanks for the vids. Was a fundementals kinda guy years ago, stashing my cash in safer bets and going long. Looking to get into technicals and so far you have a great intro, looking forward to more technical details later in the series. Thanks!

    Hi Luke.
    Firstly thank you very much and Hi from the otherside of the Pennines. Your channel and the content you provide is absolutely Brill! I love the simple and clear explanations approach.
    Ive only just started on the Forex Journey and I've got to say there is a few things that are really testing my understandiing, probably because of my own pre-programmed perceptions on how things work. This video has definitely clarified one or two of those misunderstangs, thank you.
    Call me dim, however if you can take a profit in either direction (long or short) I'm really struggling to understand how you make a profit in a 'short' trade/ falling market trend? I just dont seem to be grasping the concept!
    Have you at all got any content here that would explain this please?
    Thank you again for this great channel. : )

    This was very helpful, however at the end of the video I am not understanding where you broker widens spread to 20 pips. E.G. From buying at 1.2001 to 1.2010. Surely that is by 9 pips. So wouldn't the buying price would be at 1.2021. I could be wrong. Could anyone make it clear for me plese?

    • @DisciplinedTraderUK
      @DisciplinedTraderUK  Год назад

      No I said the buy price went to 1.2010 and the sell to 1.1990. That's a 20 pip spread

      Is trading worth it? It's like anything. You get back what you put in. It's hard work but definitely worth it. Oanda has been fine for me, no problems whatsoever

    where should you look for a broker for MT4?

    • @DisciplinedTraderUK
      @DisciplinedTraderUK  4 года назад

      Just use Google. I'd recommend going for a well established, well known broker to be on the safe side. I use Oanda and don't have any problems with them

    6:30 in five pip spread the sell is 1.2004 instead of 1.2001?

    • @DisciplinedTraderUK
      @DisciplinedTraderUK  4 года назад

      The spread isn't 5 pips, in the example the price moves up 5 pips. The spread stays the same

    what is martingale, leverage, hedging , lots terms used in forex?

    • @DisciplinedTraderUK
      @DisciplinedTraderUK  4 года назад

      Martingale trading is something to avoid. I have just made a video on leveraged trading, I'd recommend watching that. It explains what leverage, margin and lots are. Hedging can be quite complex and not something to worry too much about as a beginner.
