- A tractor-trailer loaded with thousands of gallons of gasoline exploded into a fiery inferno Thursday morning on I-95 in Connecticut.
The blaze - which shut down both sides of the major East Coast artery - erupted when the truck carrying 8,500 gallons of gas slammed into another tractor trailer and a car at about 5:30 a.m., according to News 8 Connecticut.

The blaze - "which shut down both sides of the major East Coast artery", A lot of "major" transportation routes experiencing explosions these days.
Yeah, given what is going on in the world right now, I doubt these are really accidents. They feel, retaliatory.
While I agree, driving down there is a nightmare. Stop and go constantly.
The reason being that those "major" transportation routes are old, overcrowded, not maintained. The trucks are being driven many times my inexperienced drivers, and nobody obeys the speed limits. I live in Ct. and I use secondary roads for instate driving. When I go out of state I go in the early morning before 5 a.m. I-95 is a death trap. It is said that one of the designers of the early I/95-91 interchange in New Haven was killed there.
@@GO-xs8pj so what we got a terrorist, driving a Camaro into a tankers on purpose?
Wrong!! NY post get it right!! The tanker was rear ended by truck pulling flatbed trailer and the passenger car was to the left and got tangled up in it
It started by a car cutting off the truck. It's typical of the cars on the highways in CT, which includes 91, 84, 72, 9, and 95. I live in the state and almost got hit many times by idiots that drive over 90 mph, cutting in and out of lanes. When there is an accident, now it seems like it's always major accidents or rollovers. I wish people would just slow down and put away things that cause distractions. Focus on driving and stop this BS.
@@monadking2761you said it perfectly, these Connecticut drivers drive like their in formula one race, I don’t feel safe living here I might move back to nyc
@@Wicked_pissah
Don't come back to NY. 🤮
I drive truck I don't move or give those idiots any leeway. They wanna test fate and risk their lives? Be my guest. It's not just Connecticut either its the ENTIRE north east, west of Ohio and Richmond north is all hot garbage drivers and area. I refuse to drive truck there.
@@monadking2761I feel like in the past few months there's been a significant increase of bad drivers on the road. Not exactly sure what happened
It always amazes me seeing people standing so close to an accident when a vehicle is on fire. If something wrere explode again, it will be bad news bears.
Is this Season 4 of «Build back better»?
In Europe, motorist are required to move their vehicle to the edge of the motorway. If you are in the right lane, you move right. If you are in the left lane, you move left. It opens a lane for emergency personnel to get to the scene and provide emergency services. When will we learn?
In the United States you move to the right. There’s a moniker “move to the right for sirens and lights.” The problem is most Americans have become self centered and only care about themselves and being first. P
Failure to give right of way to a Emergency Vehicle will cost you $500 plus points on your license.
In Connecticut we drive as fast as we can around everyone in the emergency lane
@@chairmanofthebored8684 Actually you're supposed to move to the right, not the left.

Lol
I remember those tv commercials back in the day for magic jack.
One night on California Interstate 5 South bound freeway. A tanker truck colluded with vehicles in a 1/2 mile long 5 lanes of traffic under ground solid tunnel. It was an inferno inside that tunnel for hours till the fuel all burnt. No way to put it out. To much heat.
I clearly remember that day, I couldn’t get home from work, and people perished. I think the bridge/overpass was damaged as well, as I remember lanes on I5 south being closed. The fire was in the truck bypass, which includes that tunnel. A very sad day for some families.
How did it get all across the bridge

Terrifying to watch!!
FBI will, some how blame this on the Russians!
There needs to be every mile or 3 a place where there is no concrete wall so cars can turn areound and get to the other side and eliminate this type of traffic jams
I’m waiting for the day when places that have highways 20 odd feet below ground level become a field for ending a lot of people because of the design.
The Interstates in Ct do. But they are for emergency vehicles only.
A U-turn into traffic going 60-70 mph... Did you even think about before you posted??? SMH.
@@ffjsb has it occurred to you only the police can open the gate? and traffic is gridlocked?
@@aNYCdj There are no gates on the turnarounds on the Interstates in Ct. And the only ones I ever saw use them are emergency vehicles.
Stuck there for 3,5 hours but dispatcher said i should have passed through 🤯🤯 Poor truck and car drivers , i hope they all are safe
What did this tractor trailer crash with?
8,500 gallons of a liquid hazmat.
Not sure.
Many years ago I was first on the scene of a tanker that ran down the embankment where I-95 and Rt 8/25 connector meet in Bridgeport. Right in back of me a State Trooper pulled up. We grabbed our extinguishers and ran down the bank to try and help the driver. He was trapped in the cab and it became engulfed in flames. We stood helplessly by and listened to his screams, calling for the trooper to shoot him. He died in the flames.
Coward cop wouldn't do it would he?

These comments are not funny. Someone probably just lost their life.
No they said only minor injurys! Dont make up stuff
Yeah conspiratoids don't really care about that sort of thing. They're more into baselessly claiming everything is a conspiracy or the FBI or an "inside job" or whatever as soon as it happens so they can feel like they're smarter than they really are by being in on the secret (at least that's my admittedly pscyh-101 level speculation).
I agree with you ! Someone could be dead from this fire ! So sad ! Some of these comments are not funny !
There were no fatalities thank goodness but the highway is going to be closed for indefinitely because of the overpass that was over to tanker fire is hasta be removed
Whatever you do firefighters, don’t spray water on the flames!!! You might actually succeed…
They might succeed in making the situation worse, the water flowing in the gutter could be flaming fuel
You don't mix water with a petroleum fire. I learned that in like 5th grade.
Doesn't the FD have foam? I'd think they'd be using foam for that type of fire.
We have to call hazmat In that situation. The trucks that pull up in most situations carry 1000 gallons of water(engine truck) and depending on the fire then they call for a tanker( here that’s a truck with 3000 gallons and in other states it’s Ariel water tank) or hazmat. Hazmat being the foam truck that can fill up a……well a lot of space. I’m not part of hazmat crew and I honestly forgot how much it has.
One learns something new every day. Interesting, thank you.
You'd have to have a LOT more foam than what the average engine carries. They only carry about 5-10 gallons.
@@coolguymandudesomething The amount of water carried depends on whether it's rural or urband FD. Usually between 500-1,000. A tanker can be 2,000 on up. A foam supply vehicle and Haz-Mat crew would respond, and they'd have to set up foam operations. They're going to have to be able to flow about 1,500 gpm, which is around 50 gal. of foam a minute, and minimum of around 700 gallons of foam to even start.
@@ffjsb Yeah, I probably should have stated that I’m talking bout how are departments usually run here. Also the videos on your channel are great brother.
