The WRC is the FIA World Rally Championship, a tough motorsport using rally cars on real roads around the world. Watch the best rally drivers battle on gravel and asphalt roads with mud, rain, dust, ice and heat! Watch high speed action as the rally drivers power slide and drift round narrow corners, go flat out over a big jump or through a watersplash, handbrake turn round a hairpin, survive a big moment, or have a massive crash! Rally requires maximum attack and careful tactics to become world rally champion.
Each rally has timed sections called special stages, on closed roads. Drivers complete these stages as quickly as possible. A co-driver reads pace notes that explain the hazards ahead. Rally drivers use the same rally car to travel to each stage on public roads, following normal traffic regulations. The crew which completes all the stages in the shortest time is the rally winner. Championship points are won using the same scoring system as Formula 1. The championship is administered by Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motorsport's world governing body.
Over 30 countries have hosted WRC rallies. Rally Monte Carlo, Rally Argentina, Rally Finland, Rally Portugal, Tour de Corse on Corsica, France, Rally Sardegna on Sardinia, Italy, Safari Rally in Kenya, Acropolis Rally in Greece, Rally New Zealand, Rally Australia, Rally Japan, Rally GB, Rally Catalunya, Rallye Deutschland, Rally Mexico and many more.
Some of the world's greatest drivers have won the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers, like Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz, Walter Röhrl, Stig Blomqvist, Petter Solberg, Ott Tänak. The list of world rally champions includes many Finnish rally drivers like Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen, Ari Vatanen, Marcus Grönholm, Hannu Mikkola. French drivers have had success with Sébastien Ogier, and 9 times world champion Sébastien Loeb. Famous drivers from other motorsports have come to try rally driving like Ken Block from Rallycross, and Robert Kubica and Kimi Räikkönen from F1.
Car companies compete for the prestigious FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers awarded to the most successful WRC constructor. Winners include Citroen, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Peugeot. Ford have had success with the Ford Escort, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta when the M-Sport team won in 2017.
The 1980's featured the iconic Group B rally cars like the Lancia 037 and Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and Audi Quattro.
Japan dominated the 1990s with the Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, and Toyota Celica and Toyota Corolla. Toyota returned to the WRC in 2017 with the Toyota Yaris WRC, winning in 2018. The 2019 championship was won by Hyundai with the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. Find out about the latest winners and champions at www.wrc.com

It's unbelievable that the WRC had a non-stop run of 14 years whereby the Champion was someone named Sebastien. Ott Tanak was the lucky one to break the chain last year!
And from 2010-2013, both the F1 World Champion & the World Rally Champion is named Sebastian/Sebastien!

Sebastian Loeb is the without a doubt one of the greatest drivers of all times his record is one thing but his natural talent behind the wheel of any type of car is another
80 wins, 120 podiums and a staggering 9 consecutive world titles and that’s not all either he’s also won 4 ROC titles and 1 ROC nations cup title
And look at the drivers he’s faced in his time and beaten in the wrc alone
    Colin McRae
    Carlos Sainz
    Marcus Gronholm
    Petter Solberg
    Sebastian Ogier
    Richard Burns
    Tommi Makinen

I feel the same way about Seb as I did Schumi, I liked them when they first began winning 1 or 2 championships, but, I grew tired of them after winning 3, 4 , 5 etc! Take nothing away from the talent, just personally, I don't like seeing the same person winning over and over and over again................

Loeb was/is the greatest, no doubt about it. however, he broke the sport for me, for me, WRC is all about the intense split second battles right down to the finnish line. sadly, with Loeb and Ogier we dont have that.. Maybe it´s time for some sort of weight penalty system? where you have to start with a heavier car the next day if you lead, or the next rally if you win? so that we could get back that intense fights...

isn't it enough that the fastest car has to be road sweeper to the rest of the pack? If you ask me that's a disadvantage in itself which Loeb fell victim to a lot of 'go slow tactics' before the rules were changed in 2012.

  • @Skuggan84
    @Skuggan84 10 лет назад +1

yeah, he has really impressed me. i knew he would be ok on tarmac, but on gravel? and THAT fast?, that is impressive. let´s se what he can do next season.
Latvala has also found his pace in the last few rallies.
However, Hirvonen has probably passed his best, after the big crash in finland he has not been the same. and Sordo, well.. he can be fast on Tarmac, but thats about it really.

Pandemonium Lig, you my friend should get your facts straight first.
Not one person on here has uttered the words Sebastian Loeb was not a legend, he certainly was, in fact I'm disappointed he's getting such little coverage in his last ever event.
Despite this, I don't go back on what I said, look at the Mcrae Makkinen days, where rallies were decided by tenths of a second, not minutes, think about how much more exciting that was and HOW MUCH MORE POPULAR THE SPORT WAS FOR IT!!!!

  • @chrisygta4life

Yeah, Grönholm was the last true character in the WRC. Loeb was incredible as a driver, but boring. Hirvonen, Neuville, Ogier all suffer from the same lack of personality. I'm supporting Latvala now, because he seems to be the most honest and takes the most risks for a victory.

Loeb Is like 0.. Sorry but Kankkunen Is Absolutely the best of all time not Loeb that win without competitors, with an out of shape co-driver and only for Citroen.. KKK win in gr B gr A First wrc and (modern wrc Subaru padle shift argentina and Finland 99) all this with makinen rohrl McRae Sainz Biasion panizzi burns mikkola Salonen Auriol Vatanen Alen Blonqvist like competitors.. not villagra Duval Wilson rautenback gardemaister as loeb had, they were not fast drivers. Somebody rember a strong opponent for Loeb ? Ok Gronholm, and then ??? nobody else..consider that hirvonen was not a great driver, that gronholm retired in 2007 and ran with the 307 wrc which was the worst car in history, that solberg ran with the subaru that from 2004 onwards has never been competitive .. and that the rest were mediocre drivers like duval, wilson ecc. Better 4 very strong titles that 9 Easy and weak titles. Put Loeb in the 80 or 90 years.. maybe he win an handshake but not for sure 9 titles.
.. did he win in rallycross? NO (Solberg win 2 time), did dakar win? no, (Kankkunen win the 88 Dakar) returning to the wrc did he win? no, he win in the wtcc ? No, because he has found real opponents, Rohrl won the pikes peak on the gravel without electronics beating vatanen, loeb same race on the asphalt with a spaceship against anyone. Evidently he is not so strong. Look Sainz.. 57 years old and win the Dakar 2020.. the same was KKK that win Dakar in 1988, and also, Carlos developed Subaru Ford Toyota polo wrc and Peugeot and mini for the Dakar, Loeb drive only for Citroen, with cars full of electronics easier to drive, sainz and 90's drivers win with the H gearbox. Its all logical Loeb Is not the best. the 9 titles were clearly won without opponents, the subaru after 2003 was no longer competitive, gronholm retired in 2007 and in 2004/05 he ran with the 307 which is the worst wrc in history .. ogier sent away by Citroen because was a good opponent ..sorry but the rankings don't lie, just look at the top 6 drivers of the rankings of those years, any wrc race from 2005 to 2012 if you find a strong driver and opponent for Loeb let us know. Come on please..
Its logical.. 9 titles ? Yes but in wich way ? Ps forza team Lancia forever
