Haha, when I was rocking a huge bushy moustache I got compliments by men on a daily basis. Some women loved it but a lot of them hated it (including my wife). Now I am back to being clean shaven and I mostly just keep my whole beard to a 1-3 day stubble which my wife loves. Luckily I have a strong jaw, which helps a lot.
I shave Sunday and Wednesday allowing for just the right amount of even stubble growth without anything obnoxious.
That's been a long time favorite for myself, too.
According to Ashley:

As a guy with a patchy beard, finding a barber who can do a great line up will help you immensely
It's true. Good definition on the neck line and the cheeks make any thin or patchy beard 3x better looking right away.

I tried growing a full beard, but it looked rather patch and hair stood-up to much, so just going with my nice classic circle beard.

Some men cannot shave due to a tendency towards ingrown hairs that can lead to permanent scarring and other complications. It's very common in black men and other people with curly, wiry hair.

Thinking of just shaving my whole beard with a clean shave. Last time I just made a effort to shave the neck beard. Where I also tried fading/trimming the side burns a little bit, so they are not too far off from the beard. I think i have like a whole month growing my beard so far. I was just going to clean it up today since I already made the lines the last time i shaved my neck beard. I might just clean shave everything off

I'm sporting a full beard today but I spent the last 12 years shaving with strictly a straight razor. I got great shaves and my skin was always smooth and appealing. I see grungy guys who refuse to shave and, for some reason, like the itchy beard growth all over their face, necks and the back of the neck...so ugly.
I have a question Ashley, is a soul patch ok WITH a mustache? Would that balance it out instead of it being by itself?

assuming the shape is good and doesn't look like you stuck your face into an ink-rimmed coffee cup, I'm going to go out on a limb and say S&P is great. Every woman I've talked to about it says that my beard's greying sections (mostly the middle and the bottom corners) look great. I generally associate with women in their 30s to 50s and they universally seem to like the greys - on men, that is; not on themselves where applicable, heh.

Doing anything to your facial hair at all other than just shaving it all off just advertises that you care about your appearance more than what a man should. Let your hair do what it wants to do, or get rid of it. Anything else is effeminate vanity.
Simply shave. A clean-shaven face always says: clean, tidy, professional and inspires confidence.
