Jimmy, my husband and I have moved twice, conceived and birthed a child in the spance of watching your content. I say all of that to give weight to put I'm about to say: As a fan: My husband and I LOVE your content and are always checking to see if you've posted. As a friend: Do what you have fun doing. There's a reason so many people started watching you play. Someone is always going to have something to say; you cant make everyone happy. There's a season for everything and there's nothing wrong with taking a break if you need one. 🤷♀️ It's hard to produce excellent work that you're proud of if you're dreading doing the work. 🤔
There's a good tip I got from Soundsmith that's helped me a lot. Learn to recognise when the wick is getting low, or when you're starting to get burnt out and take a break. More frequent breaks means shorter burnouts.
Just wanted to let you know that I really do love your background music. It blends in nicely with whatever's going on and it's never jarring or awkward 10/10 much love
love this behind the scenes look! Been here since the first episode and you've always stood out as a content creator with great humor as well as great production value and an awesome chill approach to the game. cheers
not really a question, but I am really interested in cinematography, although I never studied such a thing. I have a list of "best videos ever made" with my selection of yt videos that I've found to be extremely captivativating over the years. This consists of just very few videos, but your video "RuneScape: An MMO Split In Half" made it to that list after the first time I've seen it. I've watched that video at least 15 times and probably will watch it again many more. I love your work a lot and I will support everything you'll do in this style! Keep up the amazingness!
J1mmy I think you are the peoples champion of OSRS. We will watch any content and support you on everything you do. I know what it’s like to get in your head and only see the negatives but always remember we will support you in everything you do!
I would love for this series to continue. Side note: around 7:05 you talk about the inconsistent zoom, and I feel like zooming for one character and zooming out for yourself can empathize you are a different character. While they were inconsistent, they do portray a difference in who is talking visually.
Really enjoying this, thanks. Love your background music and B-roll. Noticed it on your first video and all your videos with it afterward. All the best J1mmy, don't get burned out. Cheers
Not a question, but I wanted to stop in and say that the ending to By Release Episode 3 is one of my favorite moments by far. As someone who spent his entire childhood stuck in f2p, and only recently really got into members, the feeling of not only standing behind that gate, imagining what could be on the other side, but also that triumphant moment of stepping through it for the first time; it all resonated so strongly with me. You managed to capture the emotions of my child and adult self, and when I binge the whole series during my grinds, my eyes still well up at the end of ep 3. Anyway, thanks for taking time to read this, and keep doing what you do. It's been a blast.
Hope that you can push through this burnout! I love your videos a lot, and I'm glad you're not just doing Osrs videos as well. Would you ever consider doing a long series on a different RPG like Skyrim or something? I would watch the heck out of that.
I personally really liked the longer intros, it felt very professional and like it was an actual tv show/movie and that we were about to watch something special
But be do worry about you J1mmy, we all want you to be as happy as you make us when we watch your amazing series, we all love you and we hope you're doing okay 💕
I hate to hear that jim is burned out /: but he has been doing by release for what almost 3 years? Must be extremely tiring. I’ve actually watched episode 1-38 of by release 3 times. It’s pretty dope seeing some of the behind the scenes stuff
14:45 I felt that bit in my soul. I've been working 3 months on a video that's barely 10 minutes so far because my live commentary in early clips is just unusable, and my workflow is pretty terrible. Would love to see more of these if you enjoyed making it
Dude I seriously want you to know, you're my second favorite OSRS RUclipsr behind Link and Rargh. Like, that rates you higher than Settled and his swamp-man series. You're rated higher on my list than B0aty and Torvesta, Virtoso and Tanzoo, and the other 100 shitty little so-called youtubers that are out there. I absolutely love every episode that you release, almost as much as I love watching Link and Rargh beat each other to a pulp. And your original music is cream of the crop. Literal cream. Of a crop. Love you Also thank god you're an audiophile like me. 90% of RUclipsrs need to buy a decent vocal microphone, then add some compression and EQ, but they don't. And you do. Which is great.
Don't want to rush if you are planning to say in a later video, but if you don't mind me asking. What has been your favorite quest you got to play and comment on? I enjoy the genuine excitement you seem to have had on them, but wanted to know which you feel was your fave from both a playing and commentary prospective.
I always forget the actual amount of time and effort you put in to the videos. And that’s not even including the time to get your account to the requirements for the episodes you’re making. Just take a break man, you’ve earned it
Hey Jimmy! first off, thank you for all the content that you create. I thoroughly enjoy every video that you produce for us. My question is were you always a pc gamer or did you also grow up with consoles like the ps1/2 or any Nintendo consoles?
Post release! When you (on the rare instances you do) record talking to a camera, do you memorize your script or have some other way of saying your script well staring into the camera?
speaking of learning a new premiere trick every week, you can make a preset of the transform effect that you can just drop onto any clip and get the same zoom settings every time. No need to control C + control Z like you mention at 7:35
Could you elaborate more on your role as president of your university's hockey team? Do you like hockey in general or was it something that was an opportunity at the time?
I guess this question isn't really production related but more about the gameplay side of things, but how has playing the By Release account made you feel about Ironman accounts in general? Like are you enjoying the difference in gameplay as opposed to the normal OSRS experience? Or would you be hating it if it weren't for the By Release restrictions/format? Love the series btw, and can't wait for the Valorant video!
Hey big dawg, you gotta take some time to yourself. Can’t enjoy your continent if you aren’t enjoying making it. Take your time, and we’ll be waiting for your return.
Tbh as much criticism as you give yourself for your early episodes they were by far the best. I’m not saying the new eps aren’t good but they just don’t compare to the early months of this series. I whole heartedly enjoyed the first 10-15 eps.
As much as I love the series, once it's over do you have a game plan in mind on what to do next? Is there another big runescape series in the works or would you take the opportunity to lean more heavily into the non RS gaming scene?
Completely unrelated to most of the series, but I do have a question that I'd love an answer to: Sandy confessions, the hand in the sand song you made for episode 27, lived in my head absolutely rent free. It was so addictive to listen to I went and put the lyrics along with proper annotation on Genius lyrics, as far as I know, this was the first of your songs to be put there. I was content with that, but spotify releases etc got me to revisit the page, and there is a second annotation by a "J1mmyByRelease" on Genius, and I just have to know if it was you that did it! Genius says the account made a lyrics edit proposal, but it won't let me view the proposal, I really hope I didn't get any lyrics wrong, cause I spent wayyy too long writing them all up ahaha
Hey man, I appreciated the landscape shots when you did them. It reminded me of nintendo 64 games ( legend of zelda oot and mm specifically). It was both artistically really well done and nostalgic. If it was something that helped you produce videos definitely make them again. It’s nice to listen to your viewers but the viewers are not the ones making the videos. You are. I know views are important to you, however I doubt those intros would be the reason people stop following you.
Jim, as a long-time aspiring wannabe Runescape YTer and musician, how exactly does your process for writing, recording, and mastering your songs go? I'm a self taught drummer and producer and hearing the Recipe for Disaster song blew my mind.
What was the thought process behind doing a handheld, corded microphone for your monologues? Personally I really like it because it contributes to the feel that this series is a throwback to when things weren't refined/clean in MMOs, but I'm curious if that's what you were actually thinking as well.
Aye jimbob, I'm curious about your setup. I want to make my own videos one day. What capture card do you use/recommend? As a fan of sound do you use a mixer for your microphone and audio? What mic do you use? (It sounds great!) Do you record video on a camera or webcam? Thanks for the laughs, never stop being yourself bub.
So what are you gonna do when you have to do client of kourend, because they retroactively made the clue scroll one with veos a req for it which means continuity is broken
What happens when you get the quest cape? Is the series over? Obviously osrs will still have more quests once you catch up, so will there be extra by release vids?
this series should definitely be titled "Post Release"
Or pre release
Yes
Please
Hot take: the long intros / extended dolly shots with accompanying music are my favorite part.
The intros were lit
Aye.
I always liked the longer intros personally

Can't believe this series is two years old man, feels like it started yesterday. Love it jimmy boy kisses for you x
haha i feel you bro I've been feeling super burnt out lately. it comes in waves
Even the savage robot gets burnt out being the best
Make another hide n seek when youre up to it, that vid was a good time
There's a good tip I got from Soundsmith that's helped me a lot. Learn to recognise when the wick is getting low, or when you're starting to get burnt out and take a break. More frequent breaks means shorter burnouts.
hahahahahaw0w
check out this tim allen biker boy
The intro to that episode was great. Ignore the sweaty high octane gamers who can’t relax for 30 seconds to relive old times in this old game.
Just wanted to let you know that I really do love your background music. It blends in nicely with whatever's going on and it's never jarring or awkward 10/10 much love
“I had euphoria all over the place”
Gross get some tissues or something
J1mmy: I’m on a time crunch
Also J1mmy: spends 27 hours in 3 days on Civ 6
Love these behind the scenes series so much!
By Release has taught me more about Runescape lore than my 15+ years playing the game. Thank you so fucking much lmao
Gotta say i do really appreciate your sound design. Your BGM is always on point.
just want you to know the little things you add and spend so much time on, while not always acknowledged, are always appreciated x
love this behind the scenes look! Been here since the first episode and you've always stood out as a content creator with great humor as well as great production value and an awesome chill approach to the game. cheers
People complained about the intros? Man I miss those intros :(
You making Kevin scream is always a bonus x

I think this man has gone insane under the pressure.
?

Thanks for showing the real stuff, it's why I love your stuff
I would love for this series to continue. Loved ep 2's intro :( Was the best one imo
Bro, I loved "according to j1m" and I enjoyed you're early vids
Such an amazing siries clears up so much wilst giving a hint of nostalgia
Love whatever you post j1m, you're a good guy
I fricken love the intro on this eppisode lol, I been putting by release on like every night. Thank you
The spice for big quests is awesome
Really enjoying this, thanks.
Love your background music and B-roll.
Noticed it on your first video and all your videos with it afterward.
All the best J1mmy, don't get burned out.
Cheers
Yo I appreciate all the work you put into the background music. I always notice it, and definitely love it
omg i love this content so much
What's the most difficult part of making By Release? There's so much that goes into these.
I LOVED the intros btw, they were great. Long or not, it made it feel like it was a quality piece.
Not a question, but I wanted to stop in and say that the ending to By Release Episode 3 is one of my favorite moments by far.

I honestly really enjoyed the longer intro. For the start of the series it works really well. Then you switch to a shorter one.
I personally really liked the longer intros, it felt very professional and like it was an actual tv show/movie and that we were about to watch something special
really wanted to see you and settled duke it out in gg love your intros you the man jim
That intro from episode 2 gave me Life is Strange vibes, it had me going "Hey, wtf why do I feel feelings and wanna cry?"
But be do worry about you J1mmy, we all want you to be as happy as you make us when we watch your amazing series, we all love you and we hope you're doing okay 💕
Love this stuff thanks!!
Feel free to make as much of these as you want
Didn't know you went to KU, class of 2018 here! Totally agree with the sheer amount of unnecessary classes required.
You're a pretty cool cat Jimbo 👍
You doing great 🥰
I'm proud of you Dad!
Damn right about the roofs!
You could always get framed to guest on these episodes. I dont know how it would help I just like when kevin funny screams
I can't believe Jimmy is a Jayhawk. Of all the universities he could have gone to, he went to my rivals. SMH my head
Would love a long outro on the final episode with pan shots
I hate to hear that jim is burned out /: but he has been doing by release for what almost 3 years? Must be extremely tiring. I’ve actually watched episode 1-38 of by release 3 times. It’s pretty dope seeing some of the behind the scenes stuff
I didn’t know Jimmy was a Connoisseur of the art piece known as Euphoria
YO HOLD UP ROCK CHALK KS BOIS
14:45 I felt that bit in my soul. I've been working 3 months on a video that's barely 10 minutes so far because my live commentary in early clips is just unusable, and my workflow is pretty terrible. Would love to see more of these if you enjoyed making it
ROCK CHALK BABYYYYYY
I loved the long intros 💔

I liked the intros
Hey J1mmy, not sure if you know but fixed mode used to be the only way you could play.
As someone who is doing Film and Writing at University, that book might be a godsend. Also, least someone has put our useless degree to good use 🤣
I always forget the actual amount of time and effort you put in to the videos. And that’s not even including the time to get your account to the requirements for the episodes you’re making.
Just take a break man, you’ve earned it
Man he said "According to Jim." I miss that shit :(
I actually loved the intro to #2. Still curious what the song is called, despite being behind the paywall, it's very chill!
I cannot believe you went to KU, youre telling me I could have met you and had no idea you were so close?!
Nice video bro
j1mmy, i see you
I had no idea you were a jayhawk! Rock chalk
I hope next episode has a 20 minute intro
Amazing. 6k views and only 1 dislike! J1mmy has an amazing community!
Hey Jimmy! first off, thank you for all the content that you create. I thoroughly enjoy every video that you produce for us.

just saw this and funny enough, troh taught me that the other day!! it’s crazy how often new things/tricks pop up on premiere
@@J1mmy ayy nice! Rimworld video was great btw :]
Could you elaborate more on your role as president of your university's hockey team? Do you like hockey in general or was it something that was an opportunity at the time?
What’s your plan once you finish all the quests?

Can you talk about some of the edits you have done for this series?
Hey big dawg, you gotta take some time to yourself. Can’t enjoy your continent if you aren’t enjoying making it. Take your time, and we’ll be waiting for your return.
Hey Jim, just finished watching the episode. One question, how ya feeling man? Hope you've been well irl ❤️

10:53 Mom look! He showed my comment on screen!
What audio plugins did you buy and use and what do each of them do that stocks don't?

Do you have any rappers/musicians that you feel like influenced your music? I swear Bones gets stuck in my head at least once a month
What was the thought process behind doing a handheld, corded microphone for your monologues? Funny you say you got negative feedback about that intro. I thought it was fantastic even after seeing it a few times.
Hey on your songs do you compose them from scratch, or do you use existing songs Weird Al Yankovic style?
"thank God this game is broken"
~j1mmy
Why is 9rain so good looking? And is he a Wheel of time fan? I ask him every video of his, but he never answers haha
I’m from Lawrence and I’m just curious are you also or did you just like KU’s program?
Hey jim what's up with not playing on fixed? Smh...
Don't get burnt out man! Like you said, go back to the roots. Make shorter episodes with one quest in it. We'll still eat it up haha. 🤣
