This was absolutely brilliant. Love the time lapse. Such a tricky project - I'd never appreciated how much fine detail goes into it. Incredible work mate
I’ve watched dozens of DIY videos and by far this is the best-looking design. The way the chimney flue wraps back over the dome and topped with an old-world pot spark arrester is just art. The chamfered arch entry is (pizza) chef’s kiss. Well done man.
I’ve been looking for the last few days on oven builds as it’s my project this for this year and then this pops up and o have to say it the best I’ve seen so far, absolutely lovely build great quality workmanship and nice to watch, well done sir. Deserves more views
Thankyou for the kind words! I’ve been watching loads of pizza oven videos lately as I’m planning on building another pizza oven for myself so I’m trying to get as much inspiration as I can.
Of the 100's of pizza oven builds on RUclips this is my favourite, thanks for posting. The dark angled outer brick and herringbone tile entry point look fantastic, so do the quarry tiles. Nice thick substantial chimney.. you put many builds to shame with this one, very stylish mate well done. Don't mind if I borrow most of this! It'll take twice as long but I'll finish the dome with brick instead of painting it
Thankyou so much! I’m glad you’ve taken some ideas from this. The detailing was the customers ideas so I can’t take the credit for that. I plan to do my own this summer which will top this one! Please share with me when you finish your oven 😃
Absolutely amazing! Perfection to it’s finest! Would love to see you post the regular speed version of this, maybe separate them into different segments.
Hey man I love your channel and you’ve answered a few questions for me already. When you referred to the mix you made was that for the mortar between the fire bricks?
Thanks! The mortar for the firebricks was something like 3 or 4 silica sand, 2 fireclay or grog and 1 fondu cement. You can also buy it ready made from some places (just needs mixing). I’m currently building another oven so check out the first two videos in the series if you wish
I can’t remember on this one if the insulation board was 25mm or 50mm but the one I’m doing now (I’m doing a series on my channel) I’m using 50mm thick board. On this oven I mixed my own fire cement but on this one I’m doing now I’ve bought bagged stuff that you mix up, it’s about £35 for 25kg I’ve found it for on eBay
@@SamDaviesBuilder awesome I subscribed!!! When you laid the fire brick on to the foam board was that just wet mason sand that you used or was it mixed with something
Sam thank you so much for your video but I have a question. Do I can use Thermafiber as the insulation. According to the instructions it can hold over 2000 degrees. Is the Owens and Corning brand and is the Sound and fire insulation.
No problem at all, glad you liked the video. I can’t see a problem with that insulation if it’s rated for 2000 degrees but I can’t say if it will match the ceramic blanket insulation or not
Hi Hamish can’t remember what I did on this one but there’s two ways, either screw it to the firebrick base and fill the holes after or cut ply to fit tight to the first row of bricks (then cut into quarters so it’s easier to get out afterwards) then you can screw the arm to the ply. Hope this helps!
Nice job Sam . I wouldn’t like to be paying to get one of those built from scratch like you did ,you’d have to charge a fair bit for one. Is it built at your own house. I built a base for a guy who bought a pre-made one , I charged him 1500 quid material and labour . I was doing a job a few doors down so I had all the materials available.
Thankyou. Its a lot of work isn't it, even in just the prep to get it to the stage where you can build the dome so I'm not surprised it cost that for you to do the base. This one was for a customer, luckily this customer was using some great materials and had some nice ideas for how he wanted it to look. Next pizza oven is my own so I'm quite excited for what I am going to create!

@@samsmith1182 thank you. I was lucky the customer picked up some nice materials for the project. Wait until I do mine at home and it will be even better! If I travelled for work I would take your job on but I never go more than 10 minutes away for work 🤣
Sorry I’m not sure the total amount of bricks! When I do the next oven I will count. The rotating arm is just a castor wheel (like on a little trolley) with the wheel removed and the wood bolted on in place of it. I’ll try and make a video of how to make one!

Very nice video, how many days did it take to build from laying the insulation floor till it's ready?

Hi Sam I'm wondering how the rotating arm was attached to the oven floor? It would have to be solid.

It’s calcium silicate board for underneath the base bricks. For the mix you use silica sand and fondu cement

Que tipo de ladrillo utiliza y que mezcla para asentarlo (pegarlos), gracias si fuera posible la información.
I used a fire brick and for the mix I used silica sand, fondu cement and a bit of fire clay. I think it was 3 sand, 1 cement and 1 fire clay
