  • Entry video for HGTV series Hometown Takeover. There is so much more about Olney that could have been included in this video. I apologize to all those we weren't able to put in this video. Hopefully the television folks can make a whole series about our great town.

I live in Keller and one of my students said they were visiting their family farm in Olney. I’ve lived in Texas my whole life and had never heard of this town. I decided to look into it and it looks like a totally awesome place to be my wife and I have discussed moving at some point in the next year or so and maybe we will consider Olney.

Well you succeeded in making me cry. I love my hometown. I grew up playing piano at the FBC btw. That church was a big part of my life as a youth. I was born and graduated high school in Olney before heading to UNT in Denton to study music. I am ever so impressed with your video. Over the years I have found it quite difficult to explain to people what a great and unique place it really is. There is a sense of pride among everyone and a love for one another like I have never seen anywhere else in my lifetime. I spent over 2 decades on the road playing music in the U.S., Canada and Mexico and never have I run across a place like it! Your video and words are spot on. I will flat out wear my friends out w/ this video. Great job and thanks.

My granny and granddad owned J & Al's cafe on main street. They also owned the car wash, laundry and Pat's Motel. I moved to Olney in 1971 and lived among the fine people until 1987. Our family farm, 9 miles north of town is where I spent my summers as a boy. Some of the friends I made in Olney are still my very best friends today. I agree with Gary Mitchell, who is one of my best friends.
