As popular as they were, Berlin were still vastly underrated during their heyday. Absolutely one of the top acts of the 80’s new wave, definitely top 10, maybe even top 5.
This instantly transports me back to 1984. I was born in 1967. I lived in Huntington Beach in the 80s, graduated high school in 1985, worked at Music Plus on Beach Blvd. - the best place to live and work in the 80s! Coke in the backroom (the store was always clean! Haha!) Was exposed to ALL the music genres. TicketMaster in the store. Lots of concerts at Irvine Meadows. Such an incredible time to be alive! If only I'd known what a unique time in history it was... I would have taken more pictures and savored the years.
Totally agree, this was their peak when the band that pretty much did it themselves and forced their way into the new wave conversation collected themselves, got some backing and put out some great tunes. Wish they had stuck it out a little longer, things happen I guess. This was THE Berlin song for me.
This song really shows off the power of Terri's voice. I remember back in 1984 being impressed by how effortless her singing sounded, even though the vocal quality was excellent. It takes a very well-developed voice to do that.
I was a rocker and if it wasn’t for this video I never would have taken a closer look at Berlin. Love Life wound up being one of my favorite albums and new wave dance music isn’t even my thing. Beautiful haunting song. Great drums. Great guitar work. Beautifully shot video too.
I'll never forget the first time I heard this song. My reaction - where did Terri Nunn get those pipes? Prior to this she always sang in a wispy little voice, but on this one she knocked it out of the park!
This song was not a hit , but should have been. " Love Life " chalk full of John Crawford great songs , but Geffen underworked it. Capitol spent more on Missing Persons.
This entire album is 🔥! People always wanna carry on about “Take My Breath Away”, and I just scream inside “No!! It’s this song and the entire ‘Love Life’ album!!”
Berlin is an iconic band of the alternative 80’s. If there is a more robust and dynamic female vocalist than Terri Nunn I’d REALLY like to know who that is.
This should have been a James Bond theme ... GREAT SONG! Loved that they played this in concert when I saw them in 2019. Terri Nunn actually commented that (super) fans get upset when they don't play this one and I for one am soooo glad they played it ... FANTASTIC SHOW! Danced my ass off (like harder even than if I was at a club) ... The band was great (John Crawford, Dave Diamond) and Nunn still has the pipes! I'd go again tbh ...
I remember seeing this video on MTV when I was 14 in ‘84, not to mention that I feel awesome for my age in general today. I didn’t have that much interest in this video at the time, but now I really like this song and play it quite frequently. And what’s with Terri Nunn doing the Miranda rights? You have the right to remain silent and enjoy this song! Lol
First time I've heard this in at least 36 years and I'd never seen the video until now. I'm hooked all over again. Absolutely timeless. This could come out in 2021 and chart in the top ten.
And to think Terri Nunn was close to getting the part of -Princess Leia in Star Wars- I think she would have been good... But, Carrie Fisher will eternally own that character, may the force of her soul always RIP. Berlin was a fantastic band, the Love Life LP was proof of it , a great album. Terri Nunn has a super voice, saw them four times in concert, she's awesome !
If Terri were Leia Jabba would have drooled himself to death and Han would've have never been frozen in carbonite because nothing can freeze around a girl that hot!
"Sweet surrender found me on my knees / My eyes were full of love, I could not see / You left the scene of the crime, hit and run" Does she mean what I think she means, or do I just have a very dirty mind?
Jyminy Love Life was just reissued on CD. It’s one of the bonus tracks. It’s under Rubellan Remasters. They’re on FB. I got a copy via Amazon. They hope to reissue the other Berlin titles.

You are spot on! Absolutely right! I would go see them in concert in a heart beat when the world goes back to normal!!
OMG you're so right! Try to get tickets to see them now! Worth every penny!!!
Bad. Promoter's.
@@coindude69 I saw them in 2019 right before the lockdown ... Phenomenal still!

1967 here too!! Love this band ❤
Any aspiring female singers need to watch this video and see how it's done
This song is Berlin at its finest moment. Should have been a huge hit!! Amazing vocals by Terri Nunn and that beat from the rest of the Band rocks!!!
I agree Terri's Vocals are incredible!
Should have been a James Bond theme, too!

Always said this would be a great James Bond song
I said the same thing from the husband
Your right, it would !
Fuck Yea it would be! Even the title of the movie!!
Same great chords as 007!

Top/Legendary Rock female voices
Pat Benatar
Ann Wilson
Terri Nunn
Aimee Mann
I saw them in 2019 and she still has those pipes! :)
Pleasure Victim and Love Life among the best 1980s a!bums. Totally dig Berlin. Peace always, Generation X.
So underrated and beautiful
Easily one of their best, extremely underrated😀😀
I believe that somewhere in the world, there are people who feel the same emotions that I feel when I listen to masterpieces like this song.
Yeah, I feel you sister
Their best song, hands down!
I was a rocker and if it wasn’t for this video I never would have taken a closer look at Berlin. Love Life wound up being one of my favorite albums and new wave dance music isn’t even my thing. Beautiful haunting song. Great drums. Great guitar work. Beautifully shot video too.
I absolutely love Berlin. All my favs from the 80s!!!!
Among my favorites. Rocking song with Terri killing it on vocals.
Her voice always makes me shiver.
1000 percent!
Man, what a voice. She had such fire.
Best ! Still gives me goosebumps after all this years ! I had the original on cassette !
Me too!! "Love Life"
"Pleasure Victim"
This song ALWAYS moves me ...
Another Berlin gem which I had totally forgot about.
This and The Metro are criminally underrated
There aren't many women vocalists who sing rock convincingly, but Terri Nunn nailed it.
It's 2019.
@@chrissycrunch There still aren't many.
Janis Joplin, Suzi Quatro, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Chrissie Hynde, PAT BENATAR, and tons of others.
Much BETTER than MADONNA...
MaskedMan66 Ahhhh...sorry, just my opinion but I NEVER liked Janis Joplin! Don’t want to offend anyone but basically NO to J.J.
Whenever I hear Berlin I think of Boy Scouts, Transformers and Atari man those were the best days of my life. I wish I could go back to the 80's.
Wtf??????
The 1980s really was such a wonderful decade. 😊
Awesome!!! Just as incredible today as it was in '84!
Love Life is still one of my favorite albums.
I still have the CD. Lol
Terri s voice n beauty is magical. Always brings back happy memories from mid 80s
Gawd Berlin is so underrated and forgotten! But I love about 30 of their songs!!! ❤️✌🏻❤️
I am sure 46,000 of those 46,734 views are mine.... this song is just that good !
This Song and Vocal by Teri....Amazing 🎹😎👍💙💜
Classic Berlin. One of all time favorite songs from this amazing band 👍✌️🎶😎
I'll never forget the first time I heard this song. My reaction - where did Terri Nunn get those pipes? Prior to this she always sang in a wispy little voice, but on this one she knocked it out of the park!
Incredible vocals!
Berlin was so underrated and they were so great. Love Life is a beautiful record.
Sounds like a bond theme love it
Their best song in my opinion. I absolutely wore out that Love Life cassette!
This song was not a hit , but should have been. " Love Life " chalk full of John Crawford great songs , but Geffen underworked it. Capitol spent more on Missing Persons.
It's one of my favorites..still gives me chills
This entire album is 🔥! People always wanna carry on about “Take My Breath Away”, and I just scream inside “No!! It’s this song and the entire ‘Love Life’ album!!”
Crank it loud! 2023, Love you Terri.
Their first two albums reside in my top ten favorite albums of all time.
The lyrics are incredible. Criminal.

Annie Lennox... both are ⚡️⚡️
@@robotlife Annie IS a tremendous talent, and a worthy challenger for the “title”.
Pat Benatar. Ann Wilson of Heart. Annie Lennox.
@@theredheadsaidNYC Great list! I don't think they are superior than Terri, but on par for sure.
Terri Nunn's vocals are stunning but the rest of the band is 'on point' as well. On this track I especially love what Ric Olsen does on guitar.
Oh my. I love it so much. Can't believe I didn't know this song until now

"Sweet surrender found me on my knees / My eyes were full of love, I could not see / You left the scene of the crime, hit and run"

Berlin such a cool ass 80s band!

LUV THE 80S.
Dislikes? Such voice, emotion and music. Got to wonder what those people do like (I'd rather not know) Maybe jealous females?
LUV THIS GIRL.
Eternally awesome!!!
entered Billboard June 30, 1984 ..reached #74
I had a single version that had background vocals on it back in the day. Would love to hear that mix again!

Agreed!
Great song! I never seen this video though. Very cool.
I want a Carpenter Brut remix/update of this one. The vocals are flawless ❤️

Imagine you are in a relationship, he (bass player) writes this song about the two of you and now you have to sing it...
She always looks at John when singing the last verse live since he rejoined the band.
Power of Egypt ☆☆☆
Super cool then....super cool now!
Best song ever Terri!!!!
Damn it Girl why am I attracted to maniacs? Or is it ME? Heavens to Betsy!

The guitar solo reminds me of Real Life? Any connection there?
And this was the song that heralded me into my teen years. Teri Nunn is still hot AF.

This Definitely should of been a Bond theme❤ 0️⃣0️⃣7️⃣🔫
Terri Nunn!!!
Great song, great group... Diamond's classic 80's porn stash, lol!
I'm very surprised some Rapper hasn't used parts of this song as a sampler for a Rap song🖕
man, Terri was stunning with the blond w/black tips. yikes.
