Hey, I'm an environmental engineer and this video is pretty much spot on. We do a broad sense of everything environmental-related and can specialize in specific fields (air, water, waste, etc...). My job specifically is geared towards environmental compliance, which is to ensure that facilities follow local and federal regulations such as not dumping whatever toxic waste down a river. Some other environmental engineers do designs for water treatment plants if you enjoy working with structures more and love AutoCAD. Overall, there are many different routes to choose from, and we're all doing this to build a better and more sustainable future
Hey I am a highschool student, a job I think I was to work at is environmental engineering is it a interesting job? Also is there anything that I could do to get myself prepared for that job?
Shadow Walker - I don't believe that would happen at all, in fact the tendency is to increase...even with Trump's defunding companies will still have to comply with environmental standards and so forth so there will always be a need for enviromental engineers
Helena Gaifem ohh great... actually am frm India and am doing my master degree in Environmental Engineering(fresher)... is thr any job availability?? Frndssss🙌🏻
I am currently wrapping up an MSc Degree in Environmental Management and am seriously considering studying environmental engineering. This video helped a lot in getting me excited for this course!
I am working as an Environment Engineer. Completed my Masters in Environment Management and working in this department. Also I have a passion to teach students about Environment and Current Technology to resolve the problem related to Air,water and Soil. I am happy to be the part of Environment Community 🙂
Just started my studies in enviromental engineering, as a back up plan to medical studies. Had no idea what I was getting into. Now I feel super excited to study, knowing I'll be able to do what I originally wanted (helping people and enviroment), even if it wasn't the doctor career I thought I needed.
After knowing the capabilities of an engineer and their talents on making our environment as a productive one I wish that I love to be one of them. It is inspiring for me to witnessed their hardship and curiosity on doing something.
hi i'm in 10th grade right now and i'm thinking about pursuing Environmental Enginneering. could you tell me what strand i should take, the benefits and how hard it is. i have to decide now because senior high school is near. thank you i just need all the info in need to know.
@@xymarie2351 i hope it's not too late lol. Take chemistry, physics and biology. That all the necessity to study environmental engineering. And choose the suitable uni for you, cause basically not all environmental engineering in all uni is the same, some specialize in waste treatment, water treatment, solid waste treatment etc. Good luck! If you have any question just message me okay
I have choosen EI I am first year of uni now and I needed motivation, inspiration, more knowledge, more and more about it... Thank you yery very much for making such informative video...I really like it.I like illustrations a lot. I want my new dream to become true...I want to heal the world together with ones who want to heal the world too.I am your future hope, join me...My country has lack of healthy enviroment and I want to change that...pollution is poisoning everyone...air quality is really bad here.Industrial pollution, garbage everywhere...I am really sad,cuz of our irresponsibility. So make a change people :)
According to my knowledge, there is no specific degree program called environmental engineering but it is one pathway of civil engineering. You just have to select your final research related to the environmental issues or enhancements that you are interested. I guess doing post grads and become environmental is another way of specialization in this field. Anyways this is gonna be the most important engineering field very soon.🤗
I guess it depends on the university? I’m from Singapore and there is environmental engineering degree for NTU and NUS (two of the best universities in Singapore, both ranked 11th in the world)
It all depends what part of Env.Eng. you focus on. You can specialize in one or all multimedia (air, waste or water) or you could focus on modeling or permitting. I am not sure where you are from but if you do live in the USA and want to have an active role in rule interpretation and enforcement, I do recommend a job in one of the state agencies or even the EPA
However, any environmental engineer who can manage waste in the production and costs saving for the company, such as work "Waste audit","Energy audit" and Biogas .You will definitely rich.🎉🎉🎉
Marielyz Teran if you are 13 years old now, you have a lot of time to improve on math. Just keep studying as much as you can and review, especially when you are out of school, and eventually you will catch up, and it will all click. Trust me.
Marielyz Teran if you are the type of person interested in reading, I would suggest checking out A Mind for Numbers by Barbara Oakley. It helps me when I am struggling to properly study and manage my time. It also tells you better ways to understand abstract concepts like math.
I was never good at math, but I went into engineering. it gets better, just ask questions and talk to your teacher if you don’t understand. I learned this a little late, but they really just want you to succeed
If your goal is ultimately go in an engineering field, then I will suggest Math. It will give you a small edge once you enter college as unless you go through AP courses, you will be required to take most basic math (algebra, trig, calculus) courses.
A lot of people say that environmental engineering is not like this. What should I do? I love environment, that’s why I want to be environmental engineering. Tho I’m not good at maths.
Truly it depends on multiple factors. I can give you my opinion as an Env.Eng. in USA. If you choose to work in industry you will be initially assigned to one of the medias (air, water or waste). Once you get sufficient experience in each area, you may choose to stay in that field or rotate. There is also the possibility that you will be introduced to another area of Env.Eng. that is not very discussed on - permitting. You need to have permits to build or expand facilities, among a plethora of other things. You can also decided to work for a consulting firm - they typically focus more on projects and reports that some industry decided to contract out (not too advisable if you dont like math). There is also the option of working for a state or federal agency; they typically oversee that industry are following the required regulations by performing audits, reviewing permits and responding to industry or public concerns.
I got A* for bio, chem, math,Phys in IALs.....expected 3As for math,Phys, chem in IALs...I didn't do bio, would I need to do bio? In order to become an environmental engineer
If not on a permanent basis then definitely as consultants. Slaughterhouses generate a lot of effluent that is emitted into the air or water, or onto land. I am sure Environmental Engineers along with Environmental Scientists are employed to implement abatement measures in both pre-generation and end-of-pipe scenarios.
So I’m really dying here. I am going to college in the fall and I want to do either environmental or civil engineering. I’m leading more toward environmental, but what is the job itself going to be like? Is it more a desk job or is it active?
Anna Dragon did you get to choose now ? Im asking bc im 16 but I’m going to be a senior next year and I want to know what it is like bc I really want to help the environment
It's kind both, when youre sampling or having a field job, it will most likely you'll be active as heck (im one of these, and trust me it's testing your physical endurance lol). But when you choose to be researcher or designer, it will be more desk job indeed. It all depends
Im planning to pursue this course instead of finishing IT though i am with frighten math subjects cos that's what engineers are all about right? Need help...
Justin, neither is better or worse, it all depends on your interests. Do some research on the two disciplines, and look at some job descriptions for each. Which one excites you more? Did the video discussing what EEs do excite you? And contrary to what Jill says, Environmental Engineering is no longer considered a specialization of Civil Engineering. This was true a two decades ago, but no more. If fact, the NCEES recognizes each as its own profession (ie you take either a Civil or Environmental Professional Engineering Exam). Although, the two are very related, and often you'll find universities created another major for EE within their department, rather than a new department.

Environmental engineers are so important and get paid 10-15$ an hour....they deserve more
I don't think that is correct, unless it depends on the location on employment. I think they get paid $20 or more per hour.
Dylan Long I hope so, saw a video on a guy who interviewed a environmental engineer and she was getting paid $10.30 an hour
This guy keeps hiting his mic
It's the "P" sounds. He's not using a proper "pop filter" over his mic to soften it.
Thank you very much. It was really interesting, and useful video. Great job.
