I grew up watching Movin On as well. That will be so cool to paint it in that paint scheme. Kenworth called it Apache paint scheme. Looking forward to seeing the finished job.
Grasshopper is the wrong proportions for horizontal arrows. He is just not long enough. I think the existing scheme suits his shape better. Arrow might work better diagonally, but that would entail undoing the work you have already done.
Dane thank you for the truckers lounge. When i hear you talk about your child hood with trucks it brings back the same memories for me. I have been driving truck off and on since 1984 and i love it . I drive a tri axle roll-off for a local wood recycling center. seeing all those old trucks reminds me of the good old days. Thank You again Jeff Cumer
Jeff I thank you for watching. It really is my pleasure to do so, my highest respect for all you Drivers who are and have been out there gittin it done every day. Hat tipped to you.😬👍
Yes that’s definitely Mack territory there. The guitar you’re referring to is the new Epiphone Les Paul Special. They’ve really stepped up their game and have become the working man’s guitars as Gibson has shifted to the “Investment” custom shop priority these days.
I wasn't sure you were going to open up the lounge today. Glad to grab a coffee and see Grasshopper and the work done this week! Always lot's of fun stuff packed into the visit! Magazines that bring back memories and make us smile. Safe travels and God bless and keep us posted!
Grasshopper is definitely coming along very nicely! Can’t wait to hear it running also. BTW don’t forget to do something with paint on Sarge. That blue and green clash.
Hey Dane I used to see it in the old days with trucks of shutters. You should paint a grasshopper on the shutters, so they flap open and close and you can see it.
I remember the days when there were truck dealers all over the place and they had trucks on the lots that were built for owner operators! I used to love going to the dealerships and looking at the trucks and getting brochures! Great memories! Sure do miss those days?
I watched " Movin On " when I was growing up too. Never missed an episode. I grew up around trucks. I'm a 3rd generation truck driver. My grandfather bought his first log truck in 1934. In 1973 he ordered a new KW that was going to be his last new log truck, and it was. In 1974 he was nearly killed while loading in the woods. He taught me how to drive in his log truck at the mills and up in the woods in 1970 when I was 9 years old. I thought the 5x4 transmissions were the coolest thing there was. I still remember it was all I could do to push in the clutch.
Grasshopper looking good. Lets of good progress made on its restoration left side is looking sharp with the new paint and tailpipe added. Keep up the great work

Hey Dane, i didn't know you were a guitar player. Makes me like you even more, been a professional musician for over 50 years. Toured the world and all over the US
Your 79 K100 KW was a sweet looking truck. My mom's cousin ordered a new K100 that could almost pass as a twin to yours. The biggest difference is that his was a 1984. He also had 5 long nose W900's with 36 inch crawl through sleepers. 2 of them were V-12's, 1 was a 3408, and 2 of them were 1693's. He ordered all of them new in the 70's. Each had matching paint. They were white and had two small red stripes down the side and the fenders were red too. They were highly optioned trucks that were loaded with chrome and polished aluminum. They were highway trucks and they worked year round, but they were still so immaculate you could have literally eaten off of the frame rails. You can probably tell by the comments I posted today that I grew up in a KW and Pete family 😎 and I carried on the tradition for 40 years. The only exception was a 1966 Mack log truck that my grandfather ordered new because he got tired of his friends telling him that the Macks made really good log trucks. Six months after he got it, he went back to the KW dealer that our family always dealt with and ordered another new KW, and when it came in, he traded in the Mack.
Grasshopper is coming along great Dane can't wait to see it when it is done it will look awesome thank you for restoring this beautiful classic truck enjoy all your videos please keep them coming your friends from Minnesota

Keep those k100s going. By far the best truck put on the market in 1978 price in 1978 was $ 55800 special order 400 big cam 1 rto 12513 4.33 gears. I carried extra fuel buttons s and would carnk to the fuel up with in 10 mins . Only used these in the Smokies and Appalachian mountains. 6 gear 45 miles and hour with 50k on the deck. No problems with those mole hills. 26 coming east out of Memphis going east was one steep short hill. But don't underestimate the ozarks. Had everything paid for soon as the fuel pump made more than I did a week it was time to find something else to do. Driving wasn't one of them I don't own it all and the company had company trucks I didn't even walk in the door. Took to much grease.

Just a retired trucker that can't sleep, sitting here at 5:00a.m ramblin on about the old days... It's funny that you showed the Overdrive magazine. I started getting those when I was a kid too. It's been a long time since I drove a truck with radiator shutters. The last one was a 66 narrow nose Pete log truck that I drove in the 80's. I absolutely loved that truck... If I remember correctly they are aluminum. How do you think it would look if you polished the louvers instead of painting them ? In 40 years of driving I drove several new Pete's and KW's that were really nice. They were highly spec'd trucks with lots of chrome and polished aluminum. One of the KW's had an ISX 525 that was sent out and had all of the pollution garbage taken off, and they did some other things to it too. It had an incredible amount of horsepower, but even with all of the power and modern conveniences, the 66 Pete is still my favorite truck...
O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Did you get to take Sarge out for a spin?!? I know you had plenty of work to do, but there should always be time for a quick spin. Thanks for the update on GH. I can’t wait to see her! I’m learning so much about the old K100s. My dad had a 69 K100 that was such a brief memory when I was a kid. It caught fire out on the road outside Grayson, KY & burnt right down to the rails. I cried my little eyes out when my dad got the call because I thought my brother was killed in it. I was glad to find he was ok! That truck was instrumental in me beginning to love trucks! So, is this gonna reflect a Movin On cabover?! COOL! Should be really something! Those 4070 IH were quite nice. We had a single axle with a 238 Detroit. That thing g hauled lots of styrofoam over the years for us! What a truck! I’ve had a great start to a Monday morning…taking my son to school & watching your video & now the sun coming up! GREAT STUFF! I have something coming out soon…those old truck stops always had lots of truck posters. Blessings! 🥰😎✌️
You guys with post 1978 cabovers or w9 they got that shield over the front brakes you can completely unhook them put a quick release valve in there just to move your slack adjusters By doing this there were no pull what so ever on the front end. This was done soon as we got it home from kw. Still has the original kingpins u-joints in that truck. Another secret buy a case or two of cooking grade silicone and spray all of your electric all of your airlines and it will keep Moser airlines from drying out and rotting. I went through four DOT inspections and they never said a word about my front. 😅 That's why it 32 years when I sold it at the original kingpins u-joints can I had to replace the power divider cuz the copper bushing was paper thin . Just decided to replace the old transmission clutch power divider. Back to work 4:00 a.m. next. I live in Columbus Ohio I picked that transmission up a new Philadelphia Ohio at 4:30 in best thing about that cabover was changing a transmission.
