Nice job man. People don’t appreciate working with less forgiving materials and the difficulties of doing so. Your’s turned out really cool man. And it was a blessing to others. Win win.
Dude, I think I watched all of your videos within the past 2 weeks. I really appreciate your passion for what you do. I can tell you that somehow you inspire me to do what I love too. Thank you and keep up the good work.
WOW! That is amazing and thank you so much for all of your support. I'm truly passionate about what I do and I'm so happy to hear that comes across in my videos. Good luck in your own journey and let me know what your favorite video is so far if you can.
One pro-tip is to superglue or epoxy the threaded inserts in. This will help prevent them from working loose over time as the wood expands & contracts.
Great tip but one thing to keep in mind is that I like these fasteners because if the screw threds ever strip then you can remove the insert and then install a new one easy. Great tip though either way and thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for that inspiring video, I saw it probably 20 times and created my own version of that for my son who is a pianist. That's a great (And heavy) project 🙂
Man, this channel it's just amazing! I'm mean, the guy who makes such things is a brilliant maker. I don't understand why the channel doesn't have a large ammount of viewrs. Congratulations for your job, man! I appreciate a lot. Keep going, your content it's amazing. Hello from Niterói (Rio de Janeiro), Brazil.
I want piano keys now and a violin and a guitar. Hee hee. Black walnut grows like crazy here, it’s almost invasive. I have two pipe clamps, only complaint they’re unwieldy to store. WD 40 works well too. Total boat has a new casting resin, that allows for a thicker pour.
Love this!! Her reaction at the end was priceless!! Great job!! I just watched a video where they didn’t do epoxy on both sides and the wood ended up warping because the environmental elements were different (they used different wood than you) so I’m so glad yours turned out amazing!!Is there a difference that you’ve seen with heat guns vs torch when working with epoxy?
Thank you so much for watching and your kind words Brittney. No issues with this table on warping and I don't expect to do to the thickness of the slab. I'll keep you posted if anything happens in the future though.
@@BYOTools I did a 2" thick yellow cedar slab table and had cupping from not completely encased in resin. The bottom not being finished with epoxy allowed all the moisture change to happen through that plane. It was heartbreaking and will never make that mistake again. I'm glad you got away with it this time.
@@akgrown75 uuuuuugh! That sounds horrible. So sorry to hear that. I’ve never worked with cedar on a table before. Walnut seems like it doesn’t cup like cedar wood.
Awesome again Brent. I don't know how you come up with these ideas- you have a gift. Side note- I have my kit from Maker to build the scrap wood cart that you built a few years ago. Did you ever post the materials list and lengths of pipe? Thanks for posting!!!
Thanks so much for watching and the kind words Roger. Its greatly appreciated and love that your taking on that project. In all honest I haven't made the plans yet but at min 2:25 those are the actual dimensions that I used for the pipe so I hope that helps at least. Take a look and let me know if you have any questions. If you do I'll be happy to answer them.
I have not worked with multiple epoxy layers. Even after sanding with 320 grit, the epoxy manifests scratches/swirl marks. Applying the flood coat hides/obscures all the scratch marks left in the previous pour? And multiple previous pours adhere to each other perfectly so you don’t see the impact of previous pours just like you would when applying multiple layers of a wood finish (e.g., varnish/shellac/poly)?
Great questions Art and thanks so much for watching. Yes the flood coat completely absorbs all of the scratches or 320 makes a crystal clear finish. And yes that is also correct with multiple pours blending together. Good luck on your own epoxy projects.
I actually did fill a few holes but some of the larger ones where the coolest ones in my opinion and the more you pock at it the worst it will probably get :) thanks for watching though bud and the support as always.
The reaction from the family took the video from 10 to 100. Amazing piece by the way.
Couldn't agree more Alec :) Thanks so much for watching.
This video rocked. It made me misty eyed. Not fair 😋

@@BYOTools I forgot to tell you that I got your shirt in the mail a few weeks ago. I'll send you a picture.

Are you able to make a chaise lounge chair?
Haha not planing on it but why do you ask? Outdoor or indoor?
