- The Buffalo Braves were an American professional basketball franchise based in Buffalo, New York. The Braves competed in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member club of the league's Eastern Conference Atlantic Division from 1970 until 1978. In 1978, Braves owner John Y. Brown Jr. swapped franchises with then-Boston Celtics owner Irv Levin, who then moved the team to San Diego, where it was renamed the San Diego Clippers. The franchise moved to Los Angeles in 1984, and is now known as the Los Angeles Clippers.

I liked Buffalo’s track meet style of play. Especially noted during the 74-75 season when they went 49-33.
Bob McAdoo was the guy who was snubbed big time when the NBA was naming the league's 50 best players. He wasn't on the list and he deserved to be on the list more than some of the guys who were honored. The Euroleague had a far better appreciation for him than the NBA.
Mcadoo should've been there before Shaq and Bill Walton. Hell Bob Mcadoo won 3 scoring titles, rookie of the year, and he was the mvp in 1975. Are you kidding me!
@@kevinlawrence8580 couldn't agree with you more!
At least they finally gave him recognition on the 75 team
@@GrandmasterDinnerRoll better late than never. True.
Made 75 thankfully. Hasn't been a center to average 30 a game 3 straight seasons since
Randy Smith should have had more reps in this content....he was the engine that got the offense going...
Amen.
I’m about to move to Buffalo and I think Buffalo needs a NBA team
You are so right sir and buffalo is a cool city
It's about time they need to stop shiting on us..the city been wanting a nba team for years
Ha! No. Can't support it.
Beautiful Uniforms. Very 1990's Hornets.
They were beautiful, especially after having such ugly ones in the first 2 years.
The Buffalo Braves didn't fail because of poor attendance but because they were given poor home dates at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium--the Buffalo Sabres (NHL) were given first choice of game days at the arena and then the Canisius College team second choice-leaving whatever dates were left to the Braves. The Braves tried to negotiate with the Canisius management and they absolutely refused--the Buffalo NY market simply couldn't build a separate arena for the Braves hence the team was sold and moved to San Diego and ultimately then moved to LA as the Clippers
it would been better if they had stayed in buffalo
Interesting. I went to a few Braves games, and I always wondered why they moved. Why did they trade Mcadoo to the Knicks?
slip satch he must have been getting advice from Phyllis George.
No.. they were done in by the owner. If you read about them you will see that the owner wanted to move them, so he switched ownership when the owner from the Celtics. They never had a chance with that owner
@@keveedarts3693 yes owner is guilty ,maybe braves would be play in bufallo today
2 teams that need to come back to the NBA is the buffalo braves the suppersonic
would love to see a team in Buffalo--but would the same problems exist? having to share an arena with the Sabres--also the population base in Erie County may not be able to support two professional teams
Braves are still in the league.... as the Clippers
@@bufnyfan1 thet have two now and they could support the braves still they drew well but left for different reasons not lack of fan support
I find it so hard to believe that Gail Goodrich ( a Great Player ) is an East Coast guy in Connecticut and has left the LA Area ( California ) jWOW . Gail was a All Time Great in College and the NBA
Another Forgotten was Teammate Randy Smith’s Defensive Ability!
Nice video. Thanks for uploading it. #BenchOnaQUEST #ClipperNation
bring back clippers to buffalo
Bring the Braves back to Buffalo as an expansion franchise. Move the Clippers to San Diego.
@@mach6893 i dont believe that nba ever back nba team to buffallo ,i wish that nba back to buffallo san diego pittsburgh andst louis beacuse of history.
Funny how Ernie D made no mention of Randy Smith. Ernie was a very entertaining point guard, but players like Randy were physically surpassing Ernie's importance beyond passing by that time in the league. Ernie couldn't cover the bigger, faster guards that were becoming commonplace. I don't think Ernie would have had a long career despite the injury.
Do you have anything maybe on the Chicago Stags or Chicago Packers?
Syracuse Nationals
You would think that NBATV could spell Dr. Jack's last name correctly? Ramsay not Ramsey.
how on earth did bill walton make the nba top 50 list ahead of mcadoo?
I remember the 74 75 buffalo Braves. Mcadoo and the braves strong team. But they were overshadowed by their hockey team Sabres. Couldn't compete with them. So they moved to so cal.
Now tell the other 95% of the real story.
the first Mac Attack before the big Mac
Peter Vecsey...ugh!!!!
I lived in buffalo in the 1970s...some great teams and bob was a great player but Boston had the great John havlicek and they were often the team that knocked the braves out of the playoffs
