Edit: to explain my original thinking. I thought that sm64 Mario would make sense because in the og game, you become classic 2d Mario. so my thinking was then in the remake you would become classic 3d Mario.

Well it can't really age horrendously because this is the best idea so if Nintendo doesn't do it, it's a failure on Nintendo for not following the best idea.
I remember that 8-bit curtain trick only working ONE time per file. This time they might let you do it multiple times. ..Maybe different past Marios will show up 🤓
I loved it so much as a kid that i saved in a separate slot right before it so i could return to do the trick when i wanted

My biggest hopes are that they redo the Secret Boxes and the Level Bonuses. I hate that you have only one chance to get some of the Secret Boxes.

There's literally only one missable box though, and it's about as well kept of a secret as the warp zone in 1-2 is. Which is to say, not at all.
@@Wendy_O._KoopaI think he means the fact that you only get ONE single shot at it… and we all know the grid like movement in SMRPG wasn’t easy sometimes when rushed to pull off a specific movement or jump. 🤷♂️
@@dexgray4581 Yes, but it's extremely early in the game, so even if you forgot to save, you've only lost ten minutes. However, since you do know about it, save beforehand, and you get infinite tries. I guess they could make the Toads hanging out there later that one pixel taller... or however much that translated to in 3D, but this seems like a _really_ small issue to me.
@@dexgray4581. Iirc you can leave the room and go back in and Toad will appear again. Just don't go into the next room. Going outside the castle and back in should be fine

I do agree, that would be a very fun easter egg, and as another comment pointed out, getting to repeat to keep winding the clock back be amazingly fun.

I loved seeing 8-bit Mario appear (and how seamlessly he does) in Super Mario Odyssey. My boy loves playing it and I'll catch myself sitting and watching him while I have snack and a beer. Don't worry, I share my snacks, but not the beer LOL
This is such an obvious change to make that there's a 0% chance it happens. Nintendo literally never does obvious things. It's like they have brainstorming sessions as such: "What's the most obvious ideas or changes people expect us to do? Okay, now everyone is forbidden from ever doing anything on this list".

the issue with it being like this, is that when you leave the curtains it plays the og mario theme and when you try leaving the room mario becomes small and the hurry up jingle plays and mario runs back to behind the curtains to go back to normal

Here's an idea: Make it a random transformation. Like, it's one several different versions of Mario that comes out rather than exclusively one type. A great way to make every playthrough a bit unique since most would just go in once and leave after getting a chuckle from the easter egg.
Yeah, that would be fair, but the Mario RPGs generally go back to the 8 bit version, including Paper Mario TTYD in the Moon Base, which gave us 8-bit partner sprites too
I think you should be able to do so multiple times and you'll get multiple game style options of Mario Sprites. Then it'd be like a kid in one of those three revolving doors

They should have it so that Mario comes out looking like he did in 3D World, seeing as 3D World is now roughly the same age SMB1 was when Mario RPG first came out.

If I’m not mistaken, the instructions were mistranslated in the English version, so the button presses have to be timed with the music or something. I think it was a recent DYKG video that had Mario RPG trivia about that.

Remember Super Mario Odyssey, how you can get a costume that is just a voxel shaped Mario hat for only 9999 coins and when you wear it, it turns Mario into a perfectly recreated model of the voxel shaped Mario Amiibo? I bet they're just gonna re-use that model again and barely change it for the 3D animation alone!
I don't know if this could work, the reason why it fit so well at the time was because the background music also changed to that of SMB.
If Mario became his SNES SMRPG self, the music changing to SMB wouldn't make sense. They would have to play the SNES version of Booster Tower, which could be very clever or just kill the entire joke.
