  • A quick video showing what exactly "artistry" is to me for those who may still not entirely get it, and how for me it can change the feeling of a story. How story/tone alone isn't enough for me. This is not an argumentative video about what should or shouldn't be, but just me sharing my own innate experience for clarity.
Basically you have the story/writing which pertains to things like dialogue and sequence of events (and tone which pertains to themes/subject matter), while artistry is the outside elements independent of that such as music, shots, designs, sounds, colors, texture, etc. The elements that embody said things and help set an emotion for them. How said things are captured/presented. It's what for me truly brings it to life and is the defining factor for my emotional investment in a movie/show/game.
    -------
9/17/24: P.S. This is not in terms of what qualifies as art. I just call it "artistry" because Idk what you call all of those elements combined. I suppose the more accurate term is “cinematography”, but I feel that’s more exclusively about visuals. It also just sounds more technical, and I’m not speaking from a place of technicality in terms of what looks prettier digitally. Like I’m not someone who's versed in the art of filming or technology and computers. I’m just talking about the overall… style 🤷‍♂️
Also It's not that I'm discarding story or judging the story off of these elements. It's all in all about how I want a story to be conveyed stylistically. That's what's important to me. It’s a really simple concept (though I am also not serious about a perfectly well written story).
    -------
I hope I don't seem like I'm trying to shove this concept down people's throats with all these scattered videos. I just enjoy making these kinds of videos and putting them out there is all.
