This video is awesome, really enjoyed this. you three guys should get a TV show. when you get three guys who are equally as passionate about arcades together it makes great viewing. Great job!
The video was great. But being there in person with you guys was a whole hell of a lot the best time of my life. It was a pleasure meeting you 3 in person.
Great video John, Jow & Phet! I want to make it next year so much! Enjoyed the walkthrough, he has a really nice collection of games! Congrats to you and Jow on the Pole Position and the Paperboy high scores!
Great tour video. I totally agree about the Mr DO cabinet. They are some of the nicest design ever. I have a Universal's Zero Hour arcade cabinet, very obscure game but the art is off the hook. 12 artists not talking to each other, cannot describe it better, but it's awesome!
My thoughts on some of these games: Battle Gear 2: From what I played of it on PS2, sort of a Gran Turismo meets Wangan Midnight or Initial D, pretty tough to get into but kinda fun. Not sure what's different in the arcade version though. Bagman: ayyiyi is about right... that game IS tough! Assault: Played it a couple times in the arcade, rediscovered it on Namco Museum on PSX! (Tons of fun with the dual analog controls) Ikari Warriors: Actually that just makes me miss Time Soldiers!! Almost the same setup with the 8-direction/8-way rotation joystick that you just can't get in MAME! Great video as always!
Man, I'd leave that song that isn't done alone and title it "Unfinished!" My wife and I went on a 5 mile run tonight and looped this tune over and over. Awesome song the way that it is! For some reason, I can imagine this song playing in a VW ad. :)
Karate Champ is like the best game ever, you've been playing the NES version. The arcade version of Karate Champ was the first fighting game I ever played. I was in an amusement park in the UK in 1984, a buddy and I was playing the "Player vs Player" until they closed for the night :)
Nice video John! Recently sold my special space ace and dragons lair laserdiscs. They came from a german company called ''software corner'' several years ago. I decided to go on with daphne because i had too many issues with my pioneer CLD1600 laserdisc, cables and connection. Unfortunately but works flawlessly in one of my sega cabs.
That was a massive arcade with a great selection of stuff to play, I would have loved to play that black hole. That's my second favorite pin next to Adams family.
More great stuff John! Would be nice to see the restaurant you guys had breakfast at that was so good. We need to find you a volunteer cameraman for next time!
Looks like a fun event, I hope to make it up one of these years, but I wish it wasn't during college football season. It looks like the airport has the same games they had when I was up there in spring/summer 2012. I really wish I still had work up there to do so I could check the place out on the company dime.
I actually beat Ghouls 'n' Ghosts. You have to run through the whole game twice. The end result was hysterical; so many misspellings... it was obvious they never expected anyone to actually beat it.
I almost went this year being a new fan of the podcast. I realized I had the long weekend last minute. Missed opportunity. (But I probably would have gotten ebola at Logan lol) Definitely planning on next year for sure! I was disappointed you didn't include the security footage of you "podcasters are climbing on top of the games!" :) - Guss
John, did i miss it, or did you once again walk right by the 4 player demolition derby cocktail without even mentioning it? That game is awesome and deserves some respect!
Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport has an arcade in the Humphrey terrminal, according to the map, and I'm sure the Lindbergh one has at least one.
Hmmm a data east Commando, is that any more of less collectible than a Capcom Commando, I wonder... a heck of a tour, of a heck of an arcade, Thanks for the video, I would to have liked to see some video of the tournament, but oh well, you should bring a travel charger, or a backup battery when you do these things, but that's just me...
Hi John, I watch all your videos. I recently got a Point blank 2 arcade machine, but it is missing the harness to connect the guns, I was wondering if you could help me out. Thanks! -Dario
Thank you for the fast response John. Suzo Happ seems quite expensive for a harness, I currently run my own arcade business, check out my website: www.dbarcades.com. Just getting started, not doing bad at all. So you know I know Gene from Vintage Arcade Superstore, nice videos John!!!
Ebola? I remember Ebola... when everyone freaked out for no reason. Not that we already have all these other things we deal with on a day to day basis that can already kill us. Grinkers is awesome!! I can see another influx of participants now that the Funspot tournament has been cancelled! :(
Hey John, Awesome video! I was at the Grinkfest last year. Unfortunately I was out of town this year, so I couldn't make it. :( Hey what's the name of the tune in the video? Running a 10k soon and want to throw this on my playlist! Jason
The two songs in the video are by my band and can be downloaded here for free: No Vocals (unfinished song!!! Not done.): soundcloud.com/thekillscreens/no-vocals Sloom: soundcloud.com/thekillscreens/sloom
Three thirty in the morning Not a soul in sight The city's lookin' like a ghost town On a moonless summer night Raindrops on the windshield There's a storm movin' in He's headin' back from somewhere That he never should have been And It's Johns Arcade... And It's Johns Arcade...
Great video John really enjoyed that. I'm not sure if you should put rtype in your basement. Personally it seems too difficult, switch it for galaga .its one of the most enjoyable games to play. Also switch mortal kombat for street fighter and you need a Simpsons machine in your basement :-)
Oh hell yeah, that was one of the best parts. I usually stop as soon as it gets to the title slate at the end, but I noticed there was more when I hovered over the end with my cursor. Good vid. I just saw Shawn last night at Gorfchampion's party. He was talking a lot about Grinkers. (this is jimbodeanny from klov)
Still don't get how you sold your Baby Pac Man. I mean that's like a cool game to have in a collection. Everyone remembers seeing that weird pinball/Pacman type of game and sucking at it. Glad to hear you are getting it back. Make sure to show us the day you do. And of course this arcade DOES have a Street Fighter II cabinet. A true vintage arcade should. SHO RYU KEN!
Hey John I want a Baby Pacman again myself..I have had a couple of them in the past and parted one that was completely water damaged so have a ton of parts to fix the next one I get :-) !
Hey I'm getting a battle gear 2 machine for free this weekend. Guy just wants it out of his garage. The one monitor will come on and work fine then the next time it will not. He claims a whack on the side of the cab will get it to kick in. Would that be that connector on the neck of the tube? Can you pull that off and re seat it without discharging the monitor? Or are you just asking to get zapped doing that? Lol thanks Matt
Could be anything. Could be a loose connection. Could be a cold solder joint. Could be something really simple! Just dive in and see what you find! :) And, yes... discharge the monitor before you start messing with it and pulling it out. Be careful!
Bally Sente i a cartage system John, like Nintendo VS the cards have a list of security chip the are cross compatible so many games,,,but there is i think one security chip covers most rom sets, ask Richie Knücklez hes kinda the leading expert on Bally Sente he has most or all games i think, the company was bought by Nolan Bushnell he advent the cartage thing Richie`s talk with Nolan about it a few times :)
John keep making videos buddy. We need them to distract us from this crazy world we live in.
This video is awesome, really enjoyed this. you three guys should get a TV show. when you get three guys who are equally as passionate about arcades together it makes great viewing. Great job!
Holy hell, what an awesome arcade!!! I'm so glad there are still arcades out there that aren't Dave and Busters. Nice video, dude!
Love your walk-through arcade videos. Streamed this years and last years video of these walk-through's on my big screen.
The video was great. But being there in person with you guys was a whole hell of a lot the best time of my life. It was a pleasure meeting you 3 in person.
Loved the acrade walk around talking about the games!!!! Way fun!
Great video John, Jow & Phet! I want to make it next year so much! Enjoyed the walkthrough, he has a really nice collection of games! Congrats to you and Jow on the Pole Position and the Paperboy high scores!
The Grinkers news makes me so sad. These were the best arcade related trips of all time.
it really is a shame
Great tour video. I totally agree about the Mr DO cabinet. They are some of the nicest design ever. I have a Universal's Zero Hour arcade cabinet, very obscure game but the art is off the hook. 12 artists not talking to each other, cannot describe it better, but it's awesome!

LOL! Thanks. :) We are gonna add vocals and clean it a little. That's just one nights worth of work. We can make it better! Glad you like it.
Karate Champ is like the best game ever, you've been playing the NES version. The arcade version of Karate Champ was the first fighting game I ever played. I was in an amusement park in the UK in 1984, a buddy and I was playing the "Player vs Player" until they closed for the night :)

Great vid john
When you commented on the food fight cab you said you liked food games lol that made me laugh out loud
Great stuff buddy
I do like Food Games. They are always good. :) Burgertime especially.
This place is f****** AWESOME Beer and games I love it!
What a freaking weekend that was. I miss my #BROS. HA. Can't wait for Grinkfest 2015!
That was a massive arcade with a great selection of stuff to play, I would have loved to play that black hole. That's my second favorite pin next to Adams family.

Great Video, Seems like a nice place and filled with so much nostalgia.
Great video John...really enjoyed watching.
Thanks, Stuart!!
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech Christmas gift to yourself. Baby pacman. Would look cool in your basement arcade extravaganza :-) :-)
This really is a great video! I subscribed to your feed a week ago and have probably watched like 5 hours so far.
+jesse wedel Awesome, thanks!
thank you! I'm actually spending more time watching your videos than actually playing lol
The Silver Strike in the airport is definitely a Gauntlet with a marquee cut down to standard size and the sides of the CP cut to make it narrower.
Great Video John! I'd love to make a trip there next year. Let me know when you guys go! Quality vid, can't say it enough. Thanks for sharing!
CONGO BONGO RULES!!! Used to play at an ice cream shop and it was a blast. Got it on Mame and its as good as ever.
I actually beat Ghouls 'n' Ghosts. You have to run through the whole game twice. The end result was hysterical; so many misspellings... it was obvious they never expected anyone to actually beat it.
Great Video of the trip mate. You need to get the Roof finished in the Basement
I'm going to do all I can to make it out there in 2015. This will be the event not to miss.
Yeah, do it! It was beyond fun.
Great stuff as usual John!!
I almost went this year being a new fan of the podcast. I realized I had the long weekend last minute. Missed opportunity. Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport has an arcade in the Humphrey terrminal, according to the map, and I'm sure the Lindbergh one has at least one.
so did the third one already happen? if it did, and the video is already out, can someone post a link or something?
Looks like you guys had a blast. Great video
Dude I'm from Australia and I will do my best to be there at Grinkers for next year. $1 beer, amazing arcade games, wow what an Awesome place.
You must do it!
:))
I was lucky enough to have played Timber. Lor of fun.
Great video John. By the way that's my old Mr. Do. I sold it to Steve a few months ago. I miss it but I'm glad it went to a good home.
No way, really!? You should have sold it to me. :D
Yes! just uploaded.. no HD yet I'll have to wait to see it.
Great tour. Thanks for the video.
John, I was told I need a Namco Harness which connects next to the jamma, that will allow the guns to work. Any ideas? Thanks again!!
it can't be very complicated. make it? can you find the manual with wiring diagram.
Looked like a lot of fun, did the guy from Japan ever show up?
What’s the name of the song playing at 2:59? I love this song.
John that was Gauntlet: Dark Legacy in the airport.
Yeah, I thought so! Thanks for confirming. :)
One great game I didn't see. ZAXXON!! Maybe I missed it :-(
How is your golden tee complete led marquee updated to the current day? What did you do to change this from the last time it was updated from IT games
I am pretty sure I changed the date in the setup menu and then it updated the sign. Not sure, really.
Stop with all the Xevious hate! It may seem outdated today, but back then, it was mind blowing! Still play it all the time in my HyperSpin cabinet.
+Adam D Yeah me too love it
I'm pretty sure the 1942 cab is an old Volfied cab...
Hi John, I watch all your videos. I recently got a Point blank 2 arcade machine, but it is missing the harness to connect the guns, I was wondering if you could help me out. Thanks!
-Dario
That's a cool game! that's a fairly new game. I wonder if Suzo Happ would have those parts. They sell the guns.
Amaaaaazing brother John! Yes Hector can beat me at excitebike.
Thank you, brother Kalan!
Ebola? I remember Ebola... when everyone freaked out for no reason. Not that we already have all these other things we deal with on a day to day basis that can already kill us. Grinkers is awesome!! I can see another influx of participants now that the Funspot tournament has been cancelled! :(
John.... Focus on the turtles arcade... Don't get distracted!
And I was all like ...
WTF ?!?!?!
I saw the Citgo sign. You live near Boston?
I flew out of Logan. :)
Great vid.
Keep it up John!
Howdy ya'll,
Amazing classic Arcade, and classic Arcade games !!
??? Ahh...12:42, did someone have an accident.......?!?! Hope not...
Grinker’s grand Palace is very far away from Jacksonville and Florida
Hey John,
Awesome video! I was at the Grinkfest last year. Unfortunately I was out of town this year, so I couldn't make it. :(

LOL! That's it. :) I used to know the words to that song.
Great video John really enjoyed that. I'm not sure if you should put rtype in your basement. Personally it seems too difficult, switch it for galaga .its one of the most enjoyable games to play. Also switch mortal kombat for street fighter and you need a Simpsons machine in your basement :-)
From what I see hes into classics. Simpsons? Not so much.
Haha and here I thought you and Shawn were going to break into song, "Heart-Shaped-Boxers" when you commented on his boxers.
Finally someone commented on the video after the credits! :)
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech LOL More hotel room shenanigans:-) :-)

Not like i need to have 1080p to see drunk John's face ^^ i watch it now..
Great video, nice to see the three Arcade Outsiders commenting together all those games, spoiler: not much drunken John.
Zedai Skywalker No drunk John in this vid. :) Well, I think I was drunk when I was filming that Warlords game for a buck segment. :)
the 1942 that's there is the williams 1942
loved the film John, thank you. Isn't it a bit strange that in the 80's arcades were full of teenagers and nowadays they are full of middle-aged men?
Great video
great video!!!
1:12:43 Did that girl piss herself?
That was my question.
Came here to post this.
Uh......
they have glass of beer to go :)
Arcade Outsiders!!!
Xevious is great you don't know what you are talking about. You just haven't given the game a chance.

Your right Simpsons probably not a classic. John likes pacman so how about pacland? It's got a great cab and game is prity good :)
*pretty
I just got a Popeye, I'm getting rid of it. Hope I don't miss mine too. Ha ha.
Real shame Grinker's had to close permanently due to covid
I didn’t actually know they were going to do that.
Yes, I know. Didn't I say it was a cartridge system to Shawn? I was looking for him to interact with me on the topic and I got nothing. :)
lol ha ha ha ok
