Be very careful with Google Maps! The planed route will disappear once your phone has no Internet connection for a while. I was in the middle of the woods, in between hills with no reception. I needed to check which path to take and was greeted with "Not connected to the Internet". After that the planned route will not be displayed anymore until your phone reconnects. This is really bad if you plan to rely on it.
Which one would you recommend if I would like plan a trip and have it record where I went so that I can show people later in a youtube video. Also which one can record the route I use over a trip or is that even possible? So 2 routes...planned route and actual used route
Any of the apps suggested in this video can record your routes, then to share them you can use this app in this video. ruclips.net/video/azp5HkeYjDc/видео.html
I think Google maps has some good features but they haven't upgraded their maps since they first started, and the fact that they tried to get me to drive my truck off a cliff.
I don't want to use the annoying voice navigation talking through my music and phone calls and would rather use a simple beep or sound alert and look at the screen to know what turn or exit is. Google Maps sound/beep alert only makes a noise AFTER I miss my exit or turn and it is re-routing. There is no option to have it just make a beep sound BEFORE I turn or go on an exit and can quickly look at the screen. What is the point of the beep alert only when it is rerouting??????
Is there a GPS app that you can input the Lat & Long coordinates and then guide you there? I own 15 acres in a dense forest area that I have the property boundary coordinates to, but I’d like to be able to FIND them using GPS. All the apps I have only show me where I’m at not to where I’d like to go.
Which app would you reccommend to do expeditions with? I used Viewranger in the past but its gone over to Outdooractive which has very low quality maps avaialble. Im in need of highly detaild maps of elevations, creeks etc. Plus i'd like to put in POI with different icons... cant find anything like viewranger... I've been collecting data with viewranger for years, really sucks thats its gone over to Outdoor active and quality got alot worse... I hope you can help me out!
I don’t find the info I need. We hike in the boondocks in our area and would like to know how we can mark the truck position and save the route we take so we can come back to the truck.
I downloaded and tried to use OSMAnd and all I got was a blank screen. It wants me to download the whole area of Oregon and I don't want to do that, I don't have that much space on my phone to spare. And anytime I try the search option and search for something that I know is nearby it tells me that there is nothing of the sort anywhere nearby. I just can't understand how to use it at all.
It's a very heavy featured app. I'm working on a video tutorial for beginners and advanced to fully explain the app. I recommend using Windy Maps for something simple. 👌
FML! I just can't find a Google alternative in the US that is not affiliated with And optimally I want a Maps app that I can import my Google Maps saved places so I don't lose them And I certainly wouldn't want to make a list of all of them and go one-by-one and search for the mall and save them all again in a different app. I guess. Apparently there's no escaping the grip of Google and their evil plan for us.
@@TheOneGoodRoad Yes I had that phone too, for like a good 3 and a half year ish battery became quite bad so I switched to a S10+. But props how you put this video in perspective very nice detailed and stuff, maybe someday u could test "GPS Navigation & Maps" really really nice free app to find your way around. (Offline too)
Yeah I had that happen with my battery too and the screen did start degrade bit with "burn in" mostly from display navigation apps so much... 😅 Is that the name of the app you recommend can't seem to find it if you can share a link thx. I'm always looking for new video ideas to share. 😉👋
@@TheOneGoodRoad Yes in the play store it's called "Offline GPS" it has a green icon with a white arrow in it but if you download the app it's called "GPS Navigation & maps" it's based of Syigic and I think you have all the premium features too. 😉👌

ayy yoo😂😂😂😂😂 same here, they almost had me walk thru a wall
Hey! Nice review! btw do you have an app to make your android nav buttons so thin?
Just the standard Samsung UI you can thin them in the settings gives you more screen to work with.
Hey mate, do you reccomend any apps for importing GPX files and then following them? Cheers
Osmand and even Google maps can do it via Google my maps.
@@TheOneGoodRoad Awesome! Just tried both and all good, thanks mate!

Yes OSM you can do this but it can only guide you in a straight line to the GPS Coordinates
Thanks. I'm thinking about going to cell gps from garmin on my dualsport. Quite helpful. Sam.

OSMand+
When you start your route do you switch off 4G?
Depends if I want to save on battery.
@@TheOneGoodRoad So it's possible to navigate without 4G?
Definitely. Download offline maps and your good to go.
I looking for tracking. Drive and walk somewhere to find my way back.
Like a Vista gps.
Cheers

You have to make a pin and save the pin (or simply save the GPS location)
@@TheOneGoodRoad Thank you.

holy shit what a fingernail mate! thanks for the vid though.
It's for guitar! But thx 😂

Ride with GPS, great route mapping tool
Is there an app that can read aloud the various locations I bypass as I drive by?

I'm pretty sure you can export that information then upload it into other applications?
But I can't figure out how... 🤔😔
just ditch your saved places
Is apple maps really the only one that shows stop signs and traffic lights?
Nope, osm maps do
Waze is good
Any apps I missed? Let me know!
MAPS.ME is my all time favourite, i've been using it multiple years, great for offline navigation and bike touring
