@@idontwannabeyouanymore9841 in my country, we follow the French system, so 6 years of medical school (I guess it's the same as doing college years then medical school in the US, I don't really know). Yes, in the first year, we are close to 500 in certain universities (although we were only about 300 in mine). We had two exams with various units and the average of our exam results was our final score (0 to 20 out of 20 points, again following the French system). After the first year, we could choose between human medical school, veterinary, dentistry or paramedic programs (if the results were not satisfying, aka less than 10 final points, we could redo the year or choose to go to the paramedic programs). The following years, we are less numerous and we have internship at university hospitals, which we also have to validate to pass the year. Exams are pretty much the same as in the first year, except that starting from the third year, there is only one exam at the end of the year.. Hope my explanation was understandable 😅
I'm a student of pharmacy & your active recall technique is way to go. God bless you and Ali Abdaal. My grades have taken a quantum leap ever since.🔥🔥🔥🔥
Your videos have literally allowed me to get straight A's in nursing school! Huge inspiration and I look forward to hearing more about your tips and tricks
im so glad i got to watch this! im an incoming 3rd year medical student and ive only started doing active recall last semester and it really is life changing. cant wait to explore more of your videos!
Thank you for all your videos especially those on studying. They have been really helpful and eye opening. I admire your faith in God as well, I am a Christian too. Keep up the great work, it's very much appreciated.
my first video of you and I am in love with you already 😂...and I am so happy I found you I also want to do medicine and I've been looking for a beautiful black lady studying medicine ...just for motivation And I've got it... Let me just go and binge on you videos
Unfortunately I dont have the luxury of time. Im in Physician Assistant school and for some of the modules I only get 1 week total to learn the information. However, I will start following your advice. I think i may have failed an exam today, so I want to figure myself out and bounce back. I want to learn and retain the information. You are very inspiring 🙃
@@fruitypebbles4147 Thank you for the suggestion! I have tried it multiple times and I never finish creating my cards. I love the idea. I need to work on making sure I create my cards though. Thanks again!
Is so much pressure I'm feeling behind, cause I learnig so much more studying by myselfie, with exams, classes, the important part for me is study on MY time, I get lost trying keep up the others, this ends now, I want to be my best version (if this have any mistake say to me, please, english isn´t my maternal language)
Hey P! I have been practicing active recall for over a year and it has done wonders but I still find myself struggling with time management. I feel like active recall and time management would be the ultimate combo honestly so your time management video is needed . 🥺
Hey Nella, I am considering Medical school hence the reason for me watching your videos. You are truly an inspiration and thank you for sharing your tips and your journey. My concern is this Nella, and it causes much anxiety here. I love the textbooks, but I learn better through videos and of course hands-on. So my question is, if there are recommended textbooks to be read - which came from the lecturer of that particular course - weren't you afraid that you may have missed vital information which you needed to learn? I feel as if since the books are recommended, that you must read them to pass the class. Please help!..and thanks in advance. Congratulations on your accomplishments. I aspire to also rank 1st in medical school. All the best!
Hi i am also in medical school and i studied Biochemistry using active recall and Biophysics using my old study technices and these are the results: 5 Biochemy and 2 Biophysics Thanks for your advice! 🎉🎉
Hi Petty. Please can you give a list of RUclips channels that you recommend for medical students. I also learn better when I watch videos, so it would be a really big help if you do. Thanks.
I LOVED THIS VIDEO!! Also, I’m currently still a high school student but I’ll be applying for colleges this coming school year. I think it would be really cool if you could make a video explaining your journey from high school to medical school! 🙌🙌
Guys I just feel like active recall is only for some courses but not all, how can you use this in physics or chemistry or mathematics? Since what’s more important is solving exercices than knowing definitions
Exactly what you’ve just said, if you have to solve things then the more you practice that equation etc you’re using active recall. The whole point is for memory. When you do practice papers, equations, teach someone a theory etc that’s active recall. So it works for anything
I also find it very difficult because apart from studying medicine, we need to do research, social work, learn languages, do international rotations, etc. 😓
No it’s not 1st out of all the students I definitely WAS NOT though I don’t know where I actually ranked. What I mean as I explained in the video was I finished with a first class degree with honours which is the highest level you can get :)
Wait, you got 8 from the final exam. So how did you become 1st in class( or I misunderstood?) In the lithuanian group, that would be at the end of average. 50-60% students got 9s and 10s. Was the bar that low in foreigers group?
I said 1st class. 80% is a first class. I’m talking about degree classification (UK metrics) But yes in general though the average for internationals is lower than Lithuanians. FOR ME an 8 is amazing and I’m using UK metric where 70-80%+ is a first class. I wouldnt say the bar is THAT LOW loool abit obnoxious but hey 😂 Also the final exam is used to rank but it’s not what’s used for your degree. Your degree is the average of all your years combined of which mine is actually 9.2 ☺️
I also suffered from the "look at other people " mentality, instead of focusing on myself
"Temporary discomfort, for an absolute permanent gain" You are an inspiration ❤️
After two years of ranking 2nd in medical school, I ranked first this school year as well! Happy for you
can i know how the ranking system in y'all country ? is it meaning that you rank 1st out of 500 other students in med school ?
