- One look at the sales numbers and you will know that the days of the humble sedan are limited. Be it compact hatchbacks that are made to look like SUVs or luxury rollers like the Volvo XC60, everyone now wants an SUV. And there are valid reasons to prefer one; they are more practical, have better ground clearance and tackle our ever-evolving road condition with ease. However, most of these so-called utility vehicles live out their lives in the city anyway where you don't really need that extra utility.
Have we forgotten that in the same family, and surprisingly for the same price, you also get a sedan - the beautiful Volvo S90. Is picking the SUV a no-brainer, or is the sedan, known for its comfort and driving dynamics, and purpose-built for cities, packing a few punches we might have forgotten about. In this video, we will let these updated 2021 Volvos give us the answer.

If road condition is perfect in your surroundings then One should prefer sedan always😁. Suv offer ground clearance but sedan offer more premium look and more stability and no body roll. Everybody has their own choices , I prefer Sedan Always😄
I would pick neither cause I don't have anything north of 15 lakhs to spend on a car😂😂😂

It's actually 6-5. You see, a car is only as good as it stops. XC60 stopped by good 5.5 metres before. I think it deserved a point there.

I think XC90 makes most sense in Volvo's line up in India.
We do prefer crossover is because of our beautiful road conditions
One point was missed out, that is parking issue in the city limits (as this review considered in city condition). More length of the car, more issue for the space.
Sedan, always Sedan. I have one and I love it. Ignore the regular road wala Mercedes or BMW or AUDIs. If you want to stand apart, get the awesome Volvos.
When will you guys will start talking about the ADAS features on them ?? How can you miss the Camera on the windshield behind the IRVM ? we do so much to develop those and its the most complex functions of them all. Radars are integrated too. No mention of them !!
Agree with you bro, ADAS and other features should be given more importance by us Indians.
I bought a XC 60. My previous one was BMW 320d.The confidence of XC 60 when riding on a rough patch, speed breaker is something remarkable. The most import is the commanding driver position…

My take: Ignore both the ss90 and xc 90 and go with the v90. best of both worlds
I think a very important point the reviewer has missed is that Volvo has overpriced its SUVs in India obviously due to the craze for the SUVs. If one checks Volvo's US website, prices of S90 and XC90 are quite similar. Ofcourse there are various packages on offer however, both Flagship Sedan S90 and Flagship SUV XC90 are similarly priced. However, XC90 is costlier by over 30 lacs in India then the S90. On the other hand, in the US, XC60 is priced in the same range as the S60 which was sold in India around 45 lacs ex-showroom ( very similar in price with the XC40 ) while in India they are charging 20 lacs more for the XC60 then the S60. Similar pricing can be observed in the UK. In conclusion, Indian consumers are getting the S90 sedan at a good price while the SUVs are highly overpriced.
If the sedans offer a ground clearance of 160-170 mm, u can cover most of the roads in india keeping the underbelly of ur car unscathed. My preference is sedan unless the real SUVs(e.g.- Range Rover's, Jeeps) come into picture.

@@piril6135 I would assume your question was sarcastic. Although the majority of mass market sedans offer around 150-160 mm, the luxury segment sedans sits a lot lower to the ground, don't they?

Xc60 is a station wagon though! Should have compared with the xc90! But ofcourse, sedans all the way long better than a suv!

Yeah China will get a small amount too as the tax rates are way below ours.( aboit 50% including state) ..
If you work hard and buy a German triumvirate instead of a volvo, it may make sense...as you are contributing in your own decent way to our GDP...otherwise there is no point in proclaiming avoiding China products and such fake petty petriotisms.. i have owned both cars. S90 looks much better but XC60 is better drive. If I was rich I'll buy both cars at the same time but...
