I bikepacked from Pittsburgh to DC this past May for my 70th birthday, riding my trusty FX 6. I used WTB Byway 700x40s. They have a smooth center strip that rides like a road tire, and then has diamond patterned tread on the shoulders for when things get a little crunchy. The bike is perfectly adequate for bikepacking and gravel if you prefer a flat bar bike.

what do u weigh? i preordered an fx6 sport and weigh around 206#
160lbs. Total weight is less than Trek’s maximum weight limit, 300 lbs.
