    Serrated Scissors tip! Turn the serrated blade so it hits the underside of the paper ... then you don't have that fringe edge!

    With the Tim Holtz scissors, if you flip them over they should cut cleanly without the perforated edge.

    Hi Sam. Thanks so much for the great video! Just a tip on the Tim Holtz scissors...I saw a demo where he said that the scissors are only serrated on one side/edge, so if you turn the scissors over and keep the serrated edge on the bottom, the perforations won't show on your project.

    Thank you Sam for the video. I do like the Tim Holz stamp platform and yes it can be a bit harder to get a good result with the clear stamp. This is why I always use foam underneath my paper when stamping with a clear stamp. It wil give you a crisp image.

    I did buy the WRMK scoreboard/paper trimmer when I found one on clearance. It’s biggest advantage is how easy it is to do very small scores. I’m right handed and really found 1/8-1/4” scores to be an exercise in frustration trying to hold my paper and see what I was doing with my hands crossed! I probably didn’t really NEED it, but it’s a great game-changer when I am doing those small scores. Thanks for reviewing all these products. If I had seen it 10 years ago, I could have saved some money. Seems like the more expensive products were the ones I didn’t like. Fortunately, we have a thrift store nearby that accepts and sells art/craft/sewing items, so I don’t feel too bad donating. 😊

  • @Cards4Cancer
    @Cards4Cancer 4 года назад +1

    On your scoreboard from Hunky Dorey, if you take a bit of white acrylic paint on the end of your finger and run it across the ruler part, it will leave enough paint to make your numbers easily distinguishable. I hope this will help you. 💞

    • @MixedUpCraft
      @MixedUpCraft  4 года назад +1

      The numbers are raised and not inset like on the Tim Holtz Guillotine, I done that on that one and it works but it won't do ant good on the scoreboard, shame but its ok. 😀

    I'm in the US so I appreciate the heads-up on the beacon 3 in 1 glue. And also for explaining why the collall glue is good. I'd seen Sara Davies with the collall glue last year on HSN, but it wasn't interested in it because it just seemed super messy and she just kept saying it was a really great glue she wasn't explaining that it didn't have the water in it so it didn't buckle and that it would help stiffen your 3D projects. So I'm off to get some Beacon 3 in 1 and try this stuff. Just a tip for the scoreboards. With the stampin Up one you're so right it can be a pain because you end up going off the track a lot. It's a bit of a pain but if you take a piece of wax paper rub it over your card stock and then score you rarely if ever run off the track. So I just keep pieces of wax paper stuck in a little cup or something grab it running over my paper and then score. Love your videos thanks so much

    Lots of great information. I heard you say in an earlier tutorial that you just got the Brother scan n cut. Maybe do a tutorial on that or a new project using it. All of you tutorials are so inspirational to me. Thank you for all that you share. I live in the United States and it seems as though the UK has much more of a craft selection than we have. Thank you again for all of your ideas.

      Linda Hutchings ... hi Linda, until a couple or so years ago the US had much more scrapbooking supplies but we’ve always had a strong crafting back ground. One thing leads to another. I started with cross stitching. I loved doing big projects but also loved small ones that could make cards...that led to paper crafting!!! and all that entails. I’m now into mini albums your side if the pond was very helpful for me, but we are catching up fast 🥰 but I seem to have gone back to the beginning for me because I’ve found “diamond painting” which is like cross stitch but instead of thread and small stitches it’s double sided tape, or glue, on canvas that has been printed with the pattern and you put a small 2.5mm diamond (drill) on the symbol. A bit like paint by numbers. Nice “chatting to you” 💁from Liverpool 🇬🇧

    I could really use a small t-square ruler, I'll look out for one, probably at the dollar store (I'm all about inexpensive stuff). My favorite see-through rulers are the ones you can get at fabric and quilit stores for quilting. They are pricey, but super thick and sturdy; made to use with rotary cutters and they come in every shape and size. My pokey tool came from Harbor Freight (for US folk) and cost me $1.99 and came in a set of four (the other three have different shapes and are good for other crafts). Harbor Freight is also great for inexpensive metal rulers and basic plastic storage.

    Hi Sam, I, myself, do love these kind of videos you professional crafters make for us. Like Kelly I'm the US as well and have always been inspired by the crafters in the UK, Australia, etc. You are the top of my list of ladies that I follow. Maybe a couple in the US (Texas) for one forgot the other. When I go to a Michael's store I head for the magazines first to see what ones have for the "freebies" that come with the magazines.
    Keep up the fantastic work and thank you for doing this video. Gives me ideas and I have some of the items you have shown here. I'm not a professional, but do like a good looking job, and you need the good tools to help you.

    Thank you, Sam! After watching nearly all of your videos - some multiple times - I can say that I've added many of these items to my stash all ready. My favorites include the Tim Holtz stamp platform (I have the standard and two travel) and guillotine cutter. I've also added the Xcut circle cutter and hole puncher, recently. I received a combination score and guillotine tool from Crafter's Companion by mistake, they told me to keep it as it would be too much hassle to return. I don't use it, though it's nice to have a backup. I cannot get a lot of the items you use, which are not readily available in the US, but I do take care to note what you are using in your videos which helps me to find equivalents. Thanks for sharing all your creativity with us. Happy New Year!

    Thanks for the video! I'm left handed so have the Tim Holtz Tonic snips, the only truly left-handed snips I could find. As you hold them, the blade with the thumb hole has to be the one toward the right. As long as I keep the serrated blade (the one with the brand name) away from the image, the cut is clean. I agree about guillotine trimmers and have the Fiskars with the 5" x 9" platform and the 6" x 12" Tonic one made for Stampin Up several years ago.

    I bought the Xcut corner punch last year per your earlier recommendation and I LOVE IT!! Had one from CTMH and it rarely punch the corners smoothly. The Xcut always punches great - even thru several layers of cardstock. Also splurged on the Xcut single hole punch - again happy with the purchase. Really appreciate your recommendations of craft products as it is easier to spend the extra funds knowing I'm getting a great product. Have a wonderful new year!

    A really useful video Sam and I realise, thanks to you, I already have a lot of these. Your videos are so interesting that I tend to watch them in place of the awful programmes on British TV these days. Thank you so much for this video Sam.. have really enjoyed watching and will look to add to my crafting stash as a result. One thing that really stood out to me is that you 'killed' a link when a greedy supplier decided to hike his prices having benefited from your recommendation. Not many would do that and just goes to show that you care about your viewers and I also love that you advise folks to look for cheaper alternatives, especially when starting out. I really look forward to what comes next in 2020 - bless you :)

    If you turn the writing away from the edged you want to keep there will be no perforation. It is as simpel as that. Thank you for sharing. :-)

    I have no clue how to sharpen scissors. I would love if you could show how it's done. Do you have a Scan n Cut? I had wanted to purchase the higher end one, but when I watched tutorials on it, it wasn't capable of all that it promised. It wasn't cutting intricate script correctly, and it was cutting into the mat just to name two glitches.

    Sam, is there a way to get the Amazon storefront to link to Amazon.com for us American's. Many things say can't be shipped to the U.S. even though they are available on Amazon here. I hope I am explaining that where you can understand it. Can you do an affiliate link for Amazon.com as well, is I guess the easiest way to ask.

      Hi Norm, yes I know, all the bookbinders out there are probably cursing me, but in the crafting industry everyone knows them as a Pokey tool or die pick.

    Thank you for finally sharing the make of your long scissors. I have been searching for them for months! LOL. Just in case your US supporters have a problem finding them, today I found a link for them over here: store.moma.org/office/office-supplies/hay-phi-scissors/v113753.html?dwvar_v113753_color=Gold&cgid= Hope this helps. I watched your video on glue, and started to use the 3 in 1 glue. I love it. You're spot on. It does make your projects so much stronger. Thank you for researching that for us.
