  • What a great little journey this was
    40 kilometres across the Northumbrian/ Scottish border over the Cheviot Hills.
    From Byrness village to the old Roman camps at Chew Green then onto the English-Scottish border ridge where we camped for two nights until walking out of the beautiful Cheviot College valley with its white painted buildings and memorial to the brave airmen who lost their lives in this remote place.
    The weather was with us for once and we had bright sunshine, blue skies and a good dose of Cheviot wind.

    Loved this one Graham, from start to finish. A really nice route to hike over a couple of days, with a couple of good pals (who really did look like superheroes). Good call's on the water conservation / harvesting, and also on the use of the Refuge Huts. Big thumbs up from me :)

      Thanks Donna, I really enjoyed this little mini adventure. For me, it’s about what life’s all about, a few days complete freedom in the hills with good friends. The water was a concern but tbh it added a little bit to the enjoyment of it all, having to source it and problem solve ATB, Graham 👍👍

    Hi Graham, great walk and video
    Never walked that part, the hills look nice and rolling,
    Water is hard to find and heavy to carry, choices choices.

      Definitely one of the safer bothy/ mountain huts, I would've thought. There are some bothies I won't go back to full stop because of people I've met though, so you are right to be cautious!

    I used to know parts of that walk like the back of my hand … is there still a Log Book in the first Refuge Hut to record use ? … also there was a small map inside indicating the location of a Spring behind the Hut and just over the Border Fence .

    • @grahamswildcamping
      @grahamswildcamping  10 месяцев назад

      Yes, the log book was there but it was full, and felt a bit thin as if people had been tearing pages from it. It did indicate that the hut is well used, as you'd expect, on the Pennine Way. I did look for water directions but I didn't see any- I might have just missed them. Thanks for watching, Graham 👍👍
