Great video and well explained, used to remove on a 981 GT4 to replace a power window switch and also took the opportunity to clean the speaker cover from the reverse side due to the previous owner spilling something.
the advice for getting into the main body of the door was really useful - the front of my drivers window seems slightly loose so need to take a look in there. had the door card off last week but wasn't sure about those clips so took a rain check.
Great videos, really appreciated! I would really love if you could make a video to show how to remove the rear side windows and also how to remove the lower, outside wind sealing (the one which runs below the mirror triangle)
Probably won’t have any glass removal videos. The trim that runs along the top of the door under the wind triangle is a pice of aluminum tightly attached to rubber. It is just fitted into the top of the door with friction. It can be lifted vertically from the open end of the door then work forward. Just don’t separate the aluminum from the rubber, it’s very difficult to fit them together again. Also don’t bend the aluminum. I’ll probably get a video out on that sometime.
Great video I had to remove the panel to change the side airbag. Unfortunately after reassembly a I got a “door latch continuously actuated” in diagnostic, which is not true. Any ideas of why would this happen?
Hmm. I would start by pulling and reseating the electrical harness. Double check no pins are damaged. Did you remove the door latch mechanism for any reason? There’s a connector there too I think
Extremely clear videos, thanks. I watched this because I want to replace the door trim on my 718 Cayman. This is the full length aluminium trim. Yours looks like brushed aluminium. This can be specced in many different finishes and even in matching leather. My car has a leather finish and want to change it to the more common bright aluminium finish. From your video I couldn't see how this trim could be removed or even if you need to remove the door card. Are you able to throw any light on how these trim pieces could be replaced? There are lots of videos on replacing the matching dashboard pieces but I couldn't find any on replacing the door trim inserts.
The trim is plastic welded in to the door. Technically it only comes with the door card. However it has been done. You will have to do a deep search on either Rennlist or 718forum where someone shares their experience doing it. Basically need to glue on the new trim after breaking the plastic welds from the old.

Appreciate the detailed removal. Will come in handy for speaker upgrade.
Really good, easy to understand and informative video. As you stated, much better system than most other manufactures.
Super helpful stuff. Recently got a GT4 and had to remove the panel to check the speakers. Thanks!
Thanks!
You rock!

Great disassembly video, best I've seen. I have this annoying rattle in my door so this video will help a lot when I get to doing it!
This helped me a ton when I had to replace my mirror just this week. Thank you!
Really clear and easily followed - thank you.
Excellent precise instructions. Made the job simple!
Excellent, now I might try modifying the under door puddle light thanks Danial
Awesome quality, thanks!
Thanks!!

@@JetFuelOnly any tips on the rear window in written form? I am asking because I am looking to upgrade my trim strips by aluminium ones
@markusbenz4357 I don’t have that info as of yet. Im a little overloaded with personal life right now but I intend to look into it.
On some 981-911-718 the water based tree hugger adhesive fails and door panel separates. Common problem so removing door panel to reglue is necessary.
