When I tell people that my fave Brian Johnson era album is Flick Of The Switch, they always are like wtf you talking about. It's the first AC/DC album I got. Summer of 84 I played 4 cassettes. AC:DC: Flick Of The Switch, Mötley Crue: Shout At The Devil, Kiss: Lick It Up and Judas Priest: Defenders Of The Faith. Those albums are in my DNA. Powerage is my favorite AC/DC album too. Great ranking. Cheers from Finland!

    My ranking:
    1) Back in Black, 2) Highway to Hell, 3) High Voltage, 4) Razors Edge, 5) Dirty Deeds, and then the rest which are generally good but blur together.
A few thoughts: 1) Back in Black deserves #1 rankings because it is flawless, it does not have a weak song (unlike the rest of their albums which do have some weaker filler songs), it features 2 of their biggest hits ever, has the best music videos of any of their songs, and it sold more than any other ACDC album I believe. I think unlike any other ACDC album BiB would probably rate as a top album among all rock albums and ahead of anything else by ACDC by the average rock fan.
    2) Razors Edge should be ranked higher, I think it's better than you've given it credit. Thunderstruck alone puts it high on the list, considering that's probably one of their best songs, album has a few other big hits, and there isn't a bad song on the album.
As for Powerage being ranked best, I strongly disagree. It is a good album but offers nothing as good/popular as Back in Black, Highway to Hell, Thunderstruck, TNT, etc. It is good but just isn't great and it offers some fillers. In fact many of your higher rankings have weak filler songs.

    • @mrboulder9714
      @mrboulder9714  Месяц назад

Hi Tim. Thanks for your comment. For me, Back In Black is not flawless as I'm not that bothered by Hells Bells and Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution.
Razors Edge may have an absolute classic on it in Thunderstruck and the rest of the album is great, but it doesn't grab me quite as much as other albums.
Powerage, for me is front to back absolutely perfect. Zero bad songs with loads of energy and attitude.
      Cheers for watching fella 👍

Interesting ranking. I consider myself a “casual” AC/DC fan if that even makes sense but I’m a huge fan of Back in Black. Easily in my top 10 favorite albums. I think it’s one of several “perfect albums” in my book.

Always brings a smile to my face seeing one of your videos dude, especially as I tend to be a very stressed nervy person so a welcome distraction :)
With AC/DC, I kinda lose track from The Razor's Edge onwards really, the albums after that are ok but nothing really remarkable. I would say top albums would be Fly On the Wall which I love (except Danger which is as far from being dangerous as you can imagine), Back in Black, Powerage and Let There Be Rock.

Good to hear your thoughts on these James. The top 6 plus flick of the switch (possibly their best for me) are essential. From the 90s onwards I think they have too many tracks on the albums which dilutes them. Every album has some great songs on them but I think they suffer sometimes for not changing up the tempo. Nice touch to have them all on vinyl as well.

Great ranking, and I agree with most of your choices. Certainly think Power Up is the best thing they have done in years, and Fly on the Wall would be great if they sorted out the production. Bon Scott only passed five months before BIB came out, and they actually started recording it in April 1980. This leads me to think (and I know this is an often debated and controversial view) that most of it was written before Bon died. The later BJ era albums start to sound quite different, but I can imagine Bon's voice on a lot of the BIB songs.

Great ranking even it doesn't matter what it on top and bottom. My AC/DC collection is about 67 vinyl's at the moment so can say that I know this band. For Those About To Rock was my first AC/DC I heard as well as my first ever vinyl bought but after that I bought Bon era albums one by one just what was available in local music store and I bought all those without hearing them before so was picking in order which cover was the best. Never had any issue with different singers. Also would like to say to those who are saying that every record is the same I don't agree that at all or maybe yes in the later years but in the beginning you can hear AC/DC evolution to grow from small club to stadium size band and sound is getting bigger as well. I noticed also that you had "better" versions of Let There Be Rock and Powerage.

Stuff Upper Lip 16? I mean I guess haha. Rock or Bust I agree with and Rock the Blues away is by far one of their best in the last 20 years. Black Ice has stuff on sides 3/4 that are not memorable? How daaaaare you, stormy May Day and Money Made? Come on mang 😂😂.
Ballbreaker is great, I do agree with boogie man is cheesy, but I love the version from No Bull. Thunderstruck I could never hear that again and I would be ok with it. Fun fact Mistress for Christmas is actually about Donald Trump from back in the 80’s according to Malcolm 🤣🤣.
FTATR is good, there some duds and I agree with your thoughts on it. Snowballed ripped. Now PowerUp is one where after Demon Fire it falls off hard. No one talks Flick of the Switch?! Holy hell that’s my number two of all time. It is underrated based on the rest you are correct there. Yes Fly on the Wall is absolutely brilliant. It absolutely shreds, pounds and rocks, yeah Danger is meh haha. Dirty Deeds those sounds better live and Squealer I love. BIB is in the rightful spot on your list. As much as I love it, it’s overrated. Shoot to Thrill, Have a Drink on Me, What do you do for Money Honey is excellent. Let There Be Rock is my first vinyl I ever bought and Whole Lotta Rosie always makes me wanna sing along at top volume.
Alright High Voltage is waaaayyy higher than I expected. Highway is in a great spot. Get it Hot is the most amazing song and should have been in every dance club in America and the UK. Short song and aaaaabsolutely puts me in a perfect mood! Best track I agree.
Far as I’m concerned Powerage is the best album they’ve put out. Every song is fire. Even those Brian is my fav or the vocalists, that record sits so nicely with me as it was one of the albums I played the most along with Flick and Fly.

Yes, I expected stiff upper lip to be last place. If you would've swapped stiff upper lip and rock or bust we would probably had the same list! Maybe its a bit of nostalgia. And I need to ask out of curiosity: what copy/print is that of powerage? Pretty intresting to see that you're missing a whole track. My cd has all of the original tracks, mind you that is the 2003 remaster/reissue (digipack format). Anyhow, great ranking mr boulder 👍🤘

@@mrboulder9714 There's an Aussie version which has the songs in different order and there are parts of the actual songs which have wee extra guitar flourishes, almost sounds like a different take. My mate has both versions

Good ranking. I find it hard to disagree so far. I guess for me, i would put blow up your video, last on my lists… although I think everything past ballbreaker isnt that great. But i really do enjoy powerup. A few great riffs and some more emotion than im used to.

Great ranking. I really thought you were going Highway To Hell #1. Much to my delight you went Powerage. It really is the best. I also really love Flick Of The Switch. It was average to me when it came out. I was also 14 when it came out so I wanted another For Those About To Rock song on it. Loved that song at 12. Now? Not so much. I think the problem at the time was it didnt have that one stand out radio or video song that all their previous albums had.

Power age great, for those about to rock great, Highway to Hell great, it’s all good stuff, but you have to admit that they were hitting on all cylinders when they did back in Black, I mean, just every song is great, that’s when they really blew up

love Fly On The Wall and Blow Up Your Video, never thought of them as being part-filler.But when you're a 10 year old kid at the time you don't think of what the critics are saying or writing. My love for them has never changed.I've never thought of any song as being ooooohhhh that's just bordering on average.I wouldn't even say Danger is below par, just different to a degree. You tread different paths within the framework of what you play

A great band Ac/dc , Kiss , Judas Priest and so on?
so Queens of the stone age opened for Ac/dc or Off Spring opened ?
I would say for stiff upper lip a 2.5 stars out of 5 not horrible not great ok?
I also like Ball breaker better than Stiff upper lip!!!
    Razors Edge ,
It's your list I understand but in all fairness For those about to Rock is better than 10 th place i'm not saying it''s Highway to hell but it's better than 10th
    around 5th or so.!!!
I like Dirty Deeds it's a good album?
Back in Black I guess of all the Magazines list it's on speaks volume it's first place for their band , first place for 1980 , top albums of the 80's and it competes with albums from the 70's?
    High Voltage looks good.
Highway to hell should be 2nd place because of Back in Black why High Voltage is in first? I understand it's your list?

Nice video I enjoy the fact that your obviously a big fan! We have different tastes though! The fact that you put all the bon stuff up at the top of the list with back in black I found extremely boring and predictable, but like I said, you’re entitled to your own opinion. Also, the fact that you think fly on the wall is the second best Bryan album🙄🫢
