Today, I'm trying the Strymon BlueSky V.2 as part of the release of their new generation of pedals!
Expect even more shimmery ambient guitar goodness!
I'll make a comparison demo on Thursday to compare V.1 with V.2 of the Strymon BlueSky and show you what has been improved on the newer version of the BlueSky.

The mod does sound better to me than the mod on the original BlueSky. Shimmer perhaps slightly better. Hard to tell.

Is there a discernible difference in the resolution and clarity of the decay in long ambient washes and tails from V1 to V2?
Awesome - much needed upgrade to a great pedal. Does it have trails when switch between a favorite and the primary reverb?
You can set it up yourself depending on if you play the pedal in true bypass or buffered bypass mode, so yes!
Did the original have trails when switching off the favorite function? Mine always cuts out immediately.

Sound #10 convinced me that I wouldn't be losing very much by upgrading from the Cloudburst to the BlueSky. Plus the BlueSky has much more versatility & features.

@@DanielC__ I thought I could get by with just the BlueSky but ended up cramming the Cloudburst back on there. So yes, I'm running both and they sound glorious together.

Les deux sont pas mal dans les meilleures côté son! La Immerse offre plus d'algorithmes, donc j'irais avec la BlueSky si je veux utiliser les fonctions MIDI et expression pedal, et la Immerse si je souhaite jouer avec la pédale plus simplement sans besoin de fonctions extra!

hey there, sorry to ask an unrelated question, but on your ZVEX instant lo fi junkie pedal demo, you play a plucking tune around 1:11. Can I ask if this is from something?
Great strategy to get my attention, my friend, because I usually just have the time to reply to comments on my latest videos - I don't have time to answer on all my 800 other videos (that is too much, that would be a full time job!). The answer to your question is: it was completely improvised and there is no reference to a tune that I remember of on that passage. Cheers!

Which amp are u using?
I'm looking at this one and the tremolo Flint pedal, but I'm confused, #4 has tremolo and the Flint also has spring reverb and if I buy these two I have 3 spring reverb engines because I also have the Volante, any thoughts?
No one needs both Flint and Bluesky, that's just excessive.
@@es5679 so can you suggest an other tremolo in same quality?
@@mortensaaugaard5795 If you want a decent tremolo, go for the Flint. I've had it for a couple of years and it's a great pedal. Since you also have spring reverb on the Volante, you might be in less need of the favourite switch that the Bluesky offers.

I recently bought a BlueSky. Is this good enough to send the older one back and buy a V2 instead? What’s the USB-C on the back of the unit for?
MIDI over USB and firmware updates
If you can return it, it's absolutely a good idea to upgrade, the pedal sound is improved on top on the MIDI and USB. The V1 pedals also will lose a ton of resell value if you want to change pedal in the future.
@@Behemoth92 even though my V1 is slightly past the return window, my Sweetwater rep is going to make the V2 upgrade happen.

@@thefam9179 I was able to return the blueSky V1 outside of the return window because Sweetwater is awesome. I decided to buy a BigSky though because the price difference between that and the blueSky V2 is only $100.
Did you use the FLINT for sound 4?
Nope it's just the BlueSky! Their new Spring algorithm adds an octave down with adjustable LFO speed as you turn the shimmer knob. Very interesting!

Hey Greg! I remember you. Went to CEGEP Marie-Victorin around 2010-2011, although I didn't get you as a teacher. I don't know of any way to get a Freeze function with the Blue Sky, that function is only available on their bigger pedal, the Big Sky. I love the timeline and have it on my tourboard since it came out.

I would like to have a better dtape sound, which goes more towards el cap(so I would save space)
a smaller footprint, maybe some more crazy new algorithms to play around with.
I know there's the Volante but I think the timeline is unbeatable.
you got some alternatives which can hold up to the timeline? let me know.

@@finnhertwig2964 Insert *emotional damage* meme here. At least for those two, the sounds did not change, but I really want the MIDI and mono/stereo switches. I received my Big Sky today but this one should not (HOPEFULLY) get a V2 for a little while.

remember when Boss released the CE-2 Chorus?. .everyone lost their minds it was so cool, so fresh and just spread things out so well. For the next five to ten years the effect was used ad nausea till it become a cliche’ That’s what the shimmer effects reminds me off. Sound awesome the first time, pretty cool the second time and after the third use of the effect it’s like. .really? That again?. . especially in the extremes settings that sound like a fake church pipe organ. The whole thing is becoming boring.
It's a lot better with the big Sky because you can decide what the 2 pitches are and how loud they are, but I agree that with this pedal, the shimmer gets boring fast. It's still good at low mix but annoying if the shimmer is loud IMO.
agreed. i’ll keep my V1 BlueSky i rarely use the shimmer cause i’m not a worship leader lol
@@Behemoth92 Most Shimmer Features get annoying if over-done.
I would agree with you, John, except that now I feel there are WAY more people who say that shimmer has been overused than actual people using it! I can't name anything recent where shimmer has been overused (or even used at all). I used to be of those who didn't like shimmer for that reason, but I'm starting to like it again!
