Leonardo Vinci created operas with a unique character and real sense of drama. Argentinian countertenor Franco Fagioli is considered a specialist of the Neapolitan composer’s work. Together with the Greek baroque ensemble Armonia Atenea and conductor George Petrou, Fagioli invites you to a Vinci Gala at the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival.

Excellent! Its sound range is not only particularly large, but powerful in all registers. Alt's timbre is beautiful, he shows the exceptional flexibility of his voice with great technical knowledge. Not only is he the best male singer I have ever heard, who sings with extraordinary expressiveness on stage, but he is also an excellent stage performer. His humor and sense of drama are both excellent. It is worthy of its role model, Bartoli.
There is a fullness to his voice that is uncommon among counter tenors. He has a classic operatic Italianate edge to his voice that is fascinating.

Come si fa a non commuoversi ascoltando "Gelido in ogni vena"? Questa aria è un piccolo grande capolavoro, una delle più belle perle di cui sono disseminate le opere di Vinci, vero genio della musica vocale di tutti i tempi. Si capisce come il rivale Porpora fosse roso dall'invidia verso Vinci! Sentando musiche come queste direbbe: "Basta, mi arrendo. Non arriverò mai a comporre musica così bella!" E Fagioli di queste meraviglie è formidabile e insuperabile interprete.
How can you not get emotional listening to "Gelido in ogni vena"? This aria is a great little masterpiece, one of the most beautiful pearls scattered throughout the operas of Vinci, a true genius of vocal music of all time. It is clear how his rival Porpora was consumed with envy towards Vinci! Hearing music like this he would say: "Enough, I give up. I will never be able to compose such beautiful music!" And Fagioli is a formidable and unsurpassed interpreter of these wonders.
Vinci is writing for the singer, Petrou brings this to life with his fabolous orchestra and lets Fagioli shine. Magic.
A totally fascinating phenomenal and most excellent vocalist.

I did not know our planet made music this good!
And interesting to think that, before the 20th Century, there was really no bad music on the whole planet. Although maybe Chinese opera was still a bit of an acquired taste.
@@stevenklimecky4918 Ha! I think so. Yeah, the only Chinese opera I've heard is The Peony Pavilion-really liked the vocal style.

Ich hatte das Glück diesen Gala Abend live zu erleben - wie von einer anderen Welt! Franco Fagioli habe ich immer als absolut umwerfenden Counter erleben dürfen, live oder auf CD/DVD. An diesem Abend hat er sich aber selbst übertroffen... Sowas Schönes, da fehlen einem die Worte um das zu beschreiben. Ich höre diese Aufzeichnung immer wieder und bin immer wieder überwältigt.
Ich war leider nicht dabei, aber seine Darbietungen sind wie immer umwerfend. Werde ihn im März 2023 in Berlin erleben dürfen.
Es espectacular el dominio que tiene de la voz y la técnica, impecable, felicidades Franco.

yo también, cuando fui a escucharlo por primera vez en el Auditorio de Belgrano, era tan jovencito! una maravilla!!
Callas a montré comment chanter le bel canto romantique, les Horne/Ramey/Blake/Merritt ont révolutionné le chant rossinien. Ce que fait Fagioli avec les rôles de castrat est du même niveau. Et si certains préfèrent les gazouillis de chanteurs à physique avantageux, c'est leur affaire.

.....à apprécier absolument le chant "gelido in ogni vena" vers 32:30 , terriblement émotionnel, intériorisé, il s'étire en intensité dramatique jusqu'à la fin . Les expressions du visage de Franco Fagioli sont tellement criantes de souffrance.. ! C'est ma version préférée, celle qui me fascine le plus . Vers 36:3O c'est une prière ... Vers 38:46 Georges Petrou lui-même murmure quelques paroles du chant d'un air accablé.....A la fin il lève vers le ciel un regard d'attente ou d'espoir qui ne vient pas, alors il les referme, c'est fini . Franco et sa grande richesse d'expressions, parfois tellement subtiles....

@Oscar Ocean Nice! I try and sing along with Franco too! And usually hurt my throat! So interesting that these texts were set to music by many different composers. I love the musical setting by Porpora as well.

Просто нашему поколению с появлением вокальной технике конт тенор. Оперы: Гендель, Винчи, Порпора…., с исчезновением кастратов все эти произведения незаслуженно были забыты (неисполнимы, либо исполнялись баритонами или меццо сопрано). Не перестаю удивляться природе человеческого голоса и на вершине этой «природы» находится Franco Figioli
Удивительно работоспособный, за десять лет напел уйму барочной музыки. Видно, что человек получвет обалденный драйв от пения, и он передаётся нам. Редкой красоты голос.
А все контратенаровые арии из Артаксеркса Леонардо Винчи просто шедевральны. И Миненко, и Барна-Сабадус, и Ченчич были на высоте.
@@irinameshkova2832 я всего один раз слушал конт тенора в живом исполнении с фортепиано, в Мехико приезжал Philippe Jaroussky, концерт проходил на одном дыхании и на бис Филипп спел песню «своим разговорным голосом»- баритоном, чем публику поставил в ступор, выходя из зала люди делили эмоции между восторгом и «что это было?». Слышал что в 2012-м году при постановке оперы Винчи «Артасерсе» кое как насобирали 6 контр теноров (3+дублирующие 3), спустя почти 10 лет конт теноров стало достаточным, но Франко на сегодня лучший!

@@MrLevqro В ютубе есть четырёхчасовой спектакль, с таймкодом. Я слушаю бесконечно уже лет семь, совсем не надоедает. Винчи крутой.:))
Just exquisite! I first encountered Maestro Fagioli online in Arbace in Arteserse. He and the rest of that cast are true gems. I'm studying voice and am focusing for now on Baroque soprano arias with lots of movement. I would love to add Vinci to my repertoire. Is there a program available for this concert? I'd like to know what the pieces are.
