Welcome to another Mortal Kombat 11 video!
Now with the official release of Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath today I wanted to celebrate it by educating you all on a character that many of you many have missed from the 80's, this Is of course Robocop!
So In today video I will be talking about the origin of the Robocop, the events that unfolded In the first movie, a brief summary of 2 and 3 (as they aren’t very good or do much for the character), what Is the future of the Robocop franchise and what Is his connection to the Terminator series!
As this will in fact not be the first time the two have clashed!
Anywho I hope you all enjoy this video as I had alot of fun putting this together! Im well aware that many of you a still somewhat newer fans to the Mortal Kombat franchise and the Robocop series may have come out before many of you were born (including myself), so making this was alot of fun and did allow me to watch the series that I have missed for many years!

Sorry for your loss. I'm so glad you get to enjoy this now. I too used to watch Robocop and The Terminator with my father before his demise in 2016. Seeing these get the recognition it rightfully deserves but unfortunately lost at one point makes me incredibly happy!

2014 Robocop was directed by Jose Padilla, Neil was suppose to direct the new retcon sequel “Robocop returns” before he dropped out of the project
Yes I was confused. blomkamp also got dropped from Alien 5. He never gets his chance to make his own 80s sequel. Granted, his only good movie is district 9 lol

There was also a series of four made for TV movies for Robocop about what happened to him after the main three movies, they're actually pretty good, and are respectively titled "Dark Justice" "Meltdown" "Resurrection" and "Crash and Burn"

I was more in shock. It was BRUTAL!
Robocop 1 and 2 were no holds barred. heavy drugs, assault, showing corruption, dismemberment etc...
Robocop 3 was some studio or OCP exec trying to make the series family friendly which turned out garbage.
As a kid i always imagined Robocop being a far ahead sequel to the 2nd terminator.
Skynet was canceled, but OCP later created their own new AI.
Ergo AI doomsday is inevitable.
Loved Robocop the second was cool the third Sucked.

One night, my mom told me about Robocop and let me watch the 1st movie, I was enjoying the movie until I gotten sleepy. I went to bed and never came back to watch the rest of the movie, lol, I'll probably will once my summer vacay hits. Thanks for the video bro, awesome job! :D

Fun Fact: Robocop was inspired by the British comic 'Judge Dredd'. One of Robocop's alternate skins in MK11 also reflects this.

The remake sucks dude. That's why the next RoboCop movie will ignore it and be a direct sequel to RoboCop 1
Rewatched RoboCop yeaterday. I never picked up on the fact Murphy is PURPOSELY reassigned to the most crime infested district. They needed bodies to create the RoboCop prototype, promised to the CEO as viable alternative to the malfunctioning ED-209 a few scenes earlier.
The writing for first RoboCop was sharp!
Every time he said 'Boddicker' wrong...it just made me cringe. And also the way he said ED's name. Have you actually seen the movie?
I just commented on the same thing, it was like nails being scraped on chalk board or a dentists drill, that's how much it made me cringe lol
I think it would be kind of cool in MK11 that if you pick Robocop as your player character, you'd have to fight RoboCain as a second-to-last boss, or even had RoboCain as another player character

Also my guess on the one line they did show about why the terminator didnt recognize RoboCop despite RoboCop remembering him is mostly due to the fact it's a different one of the same model since there have been others looking like the "Arnie" version over time. (Example: the T-800 in T3)

And for you youngsters. The voice actor for RoboCop in Mortal Kombat 11 is Peter Weller, who is the Actor who played RoboCop in the first 2 original films
There use to be a robocop live action tv show somewhere in the early 90s I think it only lasted maybe 2 seasons the show tried to show him trying to reconnect with his human side

You missed the reference of the live action TV series of Robocop and the mini series Robocop: Prime Directives. The TV series picks up after the first Robocop movie. The mini series Prime Directives takes place further in the future where Robocop’s son is an adult and works at OCP, and Robocop’s friend from his former life becomes an updated/upgraded Robocop.
The remake was not directed by Blomkamp. This video is poorly researched & pieced together.
What also made Robocop 1 movie quite good was it captured a lot of the crime anxiety and distinct class warfare of the '80s at time which resonated with many people.
Other films where notable for this as well - Escape from New York and They Live.
Robocop was a satire on corporate and establishment culture as well general capitalist commerce.
There is high crime and poverty - Which are proven results of a lopsided and poor Economy, but during all that there is advanced benefits to the top few who could afford it.
I can't wait for the Robocop versus Shang Tsung rematch!

Man, I love 99% of your content and am a regular viewer, but I have one piece of constructive criticism. You really need to back off the word "somewhat." You repeat it to a distracting degree, but you use it correctly in a sentence less than half the time.

Thanks for the look back on Robocop. Robocop was one of the first Rated R movies I watched...back in 1st grade, lol. But man, do I DESPISE his portrayal in the game. If anything, I really dislike the “skins” that were made for him. It’s just not “Robocop” to me. Heck, the recent rebooted black armored Robocop would’ve been a cool option or his classic armor in black. But, just like the Old Man told Dick Jones after ED-209 killed Mr. Kenny, “I’m very disappointed”. This is one DLC character I’d say, “I’d buy that for a dollar”.
They fact that I’m old enough that you have to give a history of robocop and why he is awesome makes me sad lol
Don’t forget the that OCP intentionally placed Murphy I’m the line of fire. There is a line which says something like “we’ve placed candidates in high probability areas AND they are refused backup when attempting to get the Bodicker gang making his death ever more tragic.
I am buying this DLC just for Murphy... My favorite action figure from my childhood, and i was born in '87 :D
We seriously need a remake of the classic Sega Genesis game: Robocop vs the Terminator!
Don't forget the Robocop miniseries that happened in early 2000s. Also there was a super nintendo game (probably sega and arcade too but not sure) that was Robocop vs terminator. Probably based off the comic.
I liked how in the Deus Ex game when your infiltrating the police HQ in the vents you hear 2 cops talking and one of them is named Alex Murphy and his partner tries telling him about the movie, Murphy mistakes it for that Van Damm cyborg movie cause as he puts it "I'm not into much sci-fi" 😂
Robocop 2 was an ok sequel.
It explored more about the inner goings of OCP, a deadly scary antagonist with Cain as a robot with good action and ended with Robocop hinting to end OCP.
The only downside is they ignored the Alex Murphy/Robocop progression from the first film
Robocop 3 was just pure garbage that could have been been the product of studio executives or OCP executives.
2 is my favorite but I agree that 3 is hot trash. The first 2 were dark gritty. The 3rd seemed like it was trying to be lighter and comical. It was cartoonish and corny. I bet the studios were trying to target the younger audience to boost toy and merch sales. Hence the PG rating instead of the R rating like the first 2
Good video, but it had one crucial fact related error. neill blomkamp did NOT direct the 2014 remake. Jose Padiha did. Blomkamp was initially attached as the director for the Robocop Returns project, before dropping out. Fun fact: The Robocop Returns project which as you mentioned is to be a direct sequel to the original Robocop is being written by Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner. The original writers of the 1987 film.
Gotta admit that Robocop 2 and 3 are guilty pleasures.
There was also a live action TV series in the 1990s. Which I was a huge fan of.
I didn't have a problem with Robocop 2 & 3. It's just, it was not focusing on Murphy entirely, as my opinion. Because if they opened up a bit of Murphy's life, then maybe both movies wouldn't be as little bad.
They actually do refer to Caine as "RoboCop 2" in the film. RoboCaine was a moniker that people came up with later.
Robocop is my dad's favorite film. It was released the year I came into this world.

At first I was effy about robocop in mk11 but after playing him I’m glad nrs added him in the game. And besides, Robocop vs. Terminator is a badass match up.

I know it's his accent. Which makes the pronunciation "Boddicker" in Clarence Boddicker sound different. Plus, these Detroit accents tend to get tricky. Saw the movie when it came out and the rest when the came out. Plus the Canadian production 4 part movie which you forgot to add that influenced the dual draw system. The 002 Robocop body had a gun draw in each leg. Reason why in MK11, Robocop can draw from both sides.
The main reason that Robocop is in MK11 Is cuz he is after Kano who actually teleported to his own Timeline using Kronika's help

I am aware of Robocop, I was born in the 1980s and watched the first movie and even the cartoon. I even practised the gun twirl several times.

José Padilha directed the 2014 reboot. The ninjas in Robocop 3 were androids not cyborgs.
You forgot to mention the 1994 live-action RoboCop: The Series and the 2001 Mini-series RoboCop: Prime Directives which serves as the conclusion of Murphy's character arc.
With Mortal Kombat 11 we now have the perfect Robocop and Terminator crossover. I loved Robocop as a kid. To me, Robocop was like Buzz Lightyear. Robocop 1 and 3 were my favourite RoboCop movies. Robocop 2 and the 2014 reboot were the worst Robocop movie. Robocop 3 was the "Dark Knight Rises" of the Robocop trilogy. Robocop 3 was better than the reboot. Peter Weller will always be Robocop. Robert John Burke was just as good and I liked the voice.
2014 Robocop wasn't directed by Neil Blomkamp. It was directed by José Padilha.
Blomkamp was in the talk of and even confirmed to direct the sequel to original 1987, which I was REALLY looking forward to but he no longer is...

I beg to differ when it comes to RoboCop 3. There was one scene in particular that bothered me(loyal as a puppy scene). The Film was still great in my opinion.
Robocop 3 was trash. It was cartoonish as hell. It had a PG rating when 1 and 2 had an R rating, and Peter Weller was no longer RoboCop/ Alex Murphy.

Remember, he was hand picked to be sent to that precinct by OCP to go to that violent district because his moral compass fit the criteria desired for the RoboCop program.
