This series has cemented Cody as my favorite player. Cody just seems to care so much about the game, and the people who play it. He's seems a true competitor that wants all those around him to improve. And showing that by giving people legitimate advice both on their mentality and their play. Keep doing what you do cody!!

My thoughts, perspective, and advice for anyone.
I would love to see Hbox fight to the top again. I understand where he is coming from. I have had my fair share of achievement and struggles with new problems to deal with. While my friends don't understand and they would minimize the problem by saying "well, at least you got a job in this" or "I never made it there"
I wish I can tell anyone who is in college or others who are trying hard to achieve themselves, life doesn't get easier for you just because you made a career for yourself. Especially with mental health.
I spend a LOT of time working on mental health, so when I get that awesome job, I can focus a little more on my career. Truth is, people suck and you have to deal with them. I come to accept that but I don't let it affect how I approach others. The biggest thing I've learned is being ok with myself, my surroundings, and what I can control. When I stop focusing on others around me. It helps me 10x in my job and my work. I'm not perfect and I know I wont be. All I can do is be better. I know I might fail, but I dust myself off and keep walking forward. I have been told by a lot of people that I am one of the most stubborn and driven people they know. I used to hate hearing that but now, I accept that. Learning to accept or to acknowledge your flaws is also a huge step. That you can fix those in time. Also accepting that Time has no boundaries when it comes to “length”
I think what Hbox needs is a few friends he can fail or fall to without having to be burned so hard. Which is a huge problem for him. I can relate to this. Mental health and having people watching you is tense, and something I had back away from. Unfortunately, this is a tricky area. because you learn, it's no one's job to be your friend/ therapist. You have to balance your emotional problems with positive interactions. So you don't burn those relationships. Also not everyone is made to deal with the issues. You have to be okay with that.
Cody, what you are doing is great. However, You both are learning to grow. So learn boundaries on when you 2 can talk about mental health stuff and days where you 2 just play games for fun. Balance is key. You both are opening up to each other. This is great but you can over do it if there is an outlet for the emotional connections for you 2. Trust me, you can burn each out by just having these talks a lot. It’s a common pattern I see with Hbox. No offence.
Good luck and happy growth guys. Cheers

Maybe this is a banal thought but I wonder if Hbox should play a different character in ultimate. Obviously that wouldn't resolve most of his issues, but it strikes me that playing a puff with similar moves but fundamentally different timing would inherently mix up his muscle memory in a way that playing a straight up different character with a dissimilar moveset wouldn't. It'd at least be one less problem imo

I do wish I could have a 1 on 1 with hbox even though I'm a nobody. Hbox needs to imagine that he has nothing to lose in order to be hungry again just like he did on his rise to #1. Peak HGod is truly scary, ending matches in less than a minute, putting serious mental pressure on the opponent that the slightest thing will lead to a stock loss.
Hbox also needs to develop puff further with new tech, reads, punishes and situations. Much like Axe as the sole torch bearer for Pikachu in top 100, there is no one else who will do that job for them.
Axe said it himself that he hasn't really been developing pika which is imo, the reason why he is currently stagnant. Constructive criticism aside, I enjoy Hbox, Axe and the rest of the melee scene.

So this is a really interesting conversation. I'm watching this as a Christian, and so there are many times throughout this video where I am in love with the vulnerability of Juan and Cody, and I think that Cody is blessed with a brilliant head on his shoulders. Like even the part at the end where he says, I could be wrong about this so please talk to others too. Man that's so great, like honestly that's amazing advice. And so I'm watching this and they get to the topic of mental health. And I just think it's so interesting, because to me, hungry boxes avoiding because of fear. He even admits that, and that's really interesting. It's a testament to his maturity that he would admit his raw emotions. And the whole time I'm watching this I'm just thinking to myself, man the answer is Jesus. Like legitimately, hungrybox has this desire but it is in conflict to another desire. I've gone through this as a Christian, like I've had to choose between two almost career choices and who knows what my life would have been like if I had chosen the other. But the fear and anxiety that was present in that moment of choice I knew, as a child of God that the fear was not coming from within me. The Bible says that God has not given us a spirit of fear or timidity. Meaning that every bit of fear that shows up in my life as a Christian did not come from me. Or at the very least if a thought of fear did arise in my head, I don't have to submit to it as reality. My reality is Jesus, my reality is salvation, my reality is a future and a hope, my reality is communion with the god of the universe who died on the cross in human form to pay for that communion. Like this is what is missing in this conversation, and I respect the heck out of both of these individuals do not misunderstand me I am literally just linking out loud voice to text writing this out as I'm driving. But I was just awestruck, that these two young men could have such vulnerability and transparency into the way that they are thinking and talking about each other's passions. Like genuinely, Juan, I don't know what your spiritual life is like, but if you do not confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then I would start with that. Because let's say hypothetically that hungrybox was a Christian and God's will for his life was to use melee as an opportunity to evangelize and build relationships and bring people into the kingdom. Man you want to know what the first idea would have come to my mind when Slippy came out, I am going to use this to influence people and spread the good news of Jesus Christ. I'm saying a lot of things, and I doubt anybody was going to read this but in the small chance that this gets seen by anyone and maybe even hungry box, or Cody, this is my piece of advice. Stream melee, like you stream ultimate. That's it man. I'm not trying to call y'all to Christianity, I believe that the Lord will send or has sent people in your life to do that, that's not why I'm here. I'm just a guy who was thinking a lot of things as I was watching this video and I wanted to get them out, I'm probably going to write this down in my drone too. Man much respect much love to you Cody and to you hungry box, you guys are inspirations and I love y'all's melee.💚

Hbox has such a mental block with online. At the end of the day the better players gonna win. It’s obvious what needs to change. Play the game against top players more.

Yeah, but it’s so hard to *stay* the best in the world because like Hbox was saying, you’ve achieved everything... and now what?
It’s an easier excuse that “this one doesn’t count” and give yourself a break without telling yourself that’s what you’re doing
It’s a lot more fun to be Scarface in the first half of the movie even though he’s in a lot worse place objectively. Because he’s climbing. Whereas once you have everything, it’s just keeping it or losing it. You gain nothing.
Armada may have been the best in the world at his peak, but mang0 continuing to love the game and stay competing is also a kind of greatness. Because it’s really hard to just *stay* at the top

I really like Hbox, but dude just complains so much about online, man. Almost seems like a defensive mechanism, as iBDW said.
