    I drove this 35 years ago. Two lanes and funeral markers on the side of the road with a wrecked car way down below.

    Try this in 1958 riding on an old bus going uphill and seeing all those cars down in the ravine.

      Same, only it was 1988 for me. An 18 wheeler was actually still burning at the bottom. I was 7 years old. 💯

      @@alvarado8557 yup, I remember going thru this as a kid in the 80s and seeing the crumpled and charred remains of vehicles down below.

      Same here. I remember as a kid seeing lots of semi trucks smashed at the bottom of the mountain.

      @@RoadTripInsights El espinazo del diablo (The spine of the devil) between Durango and Sinaloa its even worse but since its mostly used by the locals there the accidents are rare.
      Back in 2015 before our government did a clean up removing the wrecks before that year you could still see wrecks that happened in the 70s 80s and 90s we also theorized the older wreckages were related to the ghosts, from the legends I remember I saw an old cabover truck very mangled I think It was an International transtar from the 70s.

    This is the scariest?! It's got two lanes and it's wide and beautiful and has tons of guardrails! I'm sure it's unnerving to be up that high but we have so many winding, poorly maintained mountain highways with no guardrails up here in Alta California that are utter deathtraps compared to this modern version of the road.

    • @RoadTripInsights
      @RoadTripInsights  4 месяца назад

      It had a lot of notoriety back in the days and is still dangerous during winter months with black ice, especially for truck drivers.

      @@RoadTripInsights actually after watching your video and some research, I realized that this is the road my dad has told me stories about when he went to Mexico one time in the 70s and saw big rigs going over the side of this terrifying road. Like all dads he tends to exaggerate but this one turned out to be true!

      Is this newly built? My dad would say La Rumors was the scariest hwy in Mexico back in the 1980s. Watching this video, it doesn't seen too scary if you drive slowly.
