    good day sir. could it be that the Neon tetra your trying to breed might have been in bred for several generations causing such large amounts of deformed fry? I always get better results when i get from several sources to groom as breeders. it has been effective on my other breeding projects. but i have to say i have not tried neons before.

    • @bothetetrabreeder8734
      @bothetetrabreeder8734  Год назад +1

      Yes, that's also one of my thoughts. Some of the neon tetras I put together in the jar were indeed siblings of my previous batch. However, I cannot say for sure as the percentage of deformity is close to 100 percent. With hundreds of fry hatched, there should be some that are healthy. Another thought I had is that I might have used the flashlight on them too much, which could have led to the ill development of the fry. However, that alone couldn't explain the 100% deformity. I am very perplexed. I will make more attempts after the temperature has cooled down.
      Thanks very much for your suggestion!

      Thanks for your comment. But I don't think this action will harm the fry. When they are still in the embryo stage, they are insensitive and don't get startled until they have hatched. I just had a fairly good survival rate for my last batch of cardinal tetras, and almost all of them are in good condition. I think it's about providing them with an undisturbed environment after they have hatched.

    The object of the second sentence is “water.” One does not say “a water.” The sentence should read:

    I’m very impressed with the super success you are having breeding neon tetra. I do believe that you will soon discover how to prevent pathogens (like fungus) from destroying eggs and fry. I felt the males you used, as breeding stock, looked a bit low-grade (like they suffered “hollow belly”). Perhaps better, breeding stock would produce more, viable fry.
