As the world reels from the World Central Kitchen attack in which seven aid workers in Gaza were struck and killed by three separate Israeli missiles while delivering aid for starving Palestinians, we speak with prominent Israeli scholar Neve Gordon about Israel's history of weaponizing food access in the Gaza Strip via the destruction of Palestinian agricultural land, labor restrictions and blockade, "controlling and managing the population through food insecurity." Neve Gordon is a professor of human rights law and author of multiple books on Israel's occupation of Palestine whose latest essay for The New York Review of Books is titled "The Road to Famine in Gaza." Now as aid deliveries dry up amid fears of further attacks on humanitarian workers, Gordon emphasizes that "Israel has been controlling the food basket and using it as a weapon since the beginning of the occupation until today."

The European countries, the USA, and others take pride in endorsing the values of Enlightenment, human rights, freedom of speech, and democracy. However, in the last six months, it was clearly to be seen how economic, military and political interests hide behind the label of good and friendly allies, and the guilt of the holocaust. Every violent death of an innocent person, irrespective of its magnitude, is a guilt of a whole nation. These countries must learn to come off the hypocrisy of ostentatiously championing human rights and at the same time supplying weapons. Israel cannot be so important that all these countries lose sight of their ethical principles, that is, in the last resort, their sanity.
I think the ethical standards are a myth. Their hypocrisy has never been more clear

This attack on the World Central Kitchen’s convoy was NOT unintentional! The Israelis can’t help but brag about how much they know of where their targets are located and how accurately they’re able to strike them. The fact that there were three separate attacks in a row speaks to the intentionality of the attacks. To claim that this was an accident is pure falderal. For the humanitarian aid workers to coordinate with the IDF is to sign their own death warrants these days. They’d probably be better off to make clandestine arrangements to provide the needed assistance, and certainly NOT to share that information with the United States government. That government is NOT trustworthy!

I don't know how Israel is covering it other that they are hiding it. What is most shocking is that America's mainstream media is still siding with Israel and hardly covering anything horrible in Gaza at all. They could not avoid covering the deliberate deaths of the hunger aid workers but many still are calling it an accident and are waiting for Israel to "investigate" it.

Prof Neve Gordon is among the very few who mentioned why Oct 7 happened. Thank you. The whole media needs to repeat this REALITY of why Oct 7 happened. Without it no words make sense at all.

The world community needs access to reality on the ground. We need deeper understanding on starvation and the combined effects of lack of clean water, access to medical care, and necessary intravenous electrolytes. How many infants are dying due lack of maternal nutrition during pregnancy, what are the numbers of infants born small for gestational age, premature births, low birth weight.? Can these babies be rescued by giving them frozen donated breast milk? What are the consequences of starvation on muscle wasting, neural and brain development? What kinds of supplies are needed? How do we get the supplies to these children? At what point are the consequences irreversible? Who is documenting this forced starvation? how and what kinds of data is being tracked? Where is stored? Where is it sent?
This interview falls short on addressing the very issues at hand. The cries and helplessness of these mothers is shattering. The world community must gain more comprehensive understanding of the gravity - short and long term consequences- what we can do. The ongoing atrocities must be stopped- truth must be disclosed, recorded and acted on.
The president of Egypt is also responsible as he could use military to see the trucks through the gate.

Israel is not starving Gazans. In fact, that is Hamas. Israel inspects the trucks. The trucks go through the gate. There they sit. 2 months ago, the UN requested that Israel stop inspecting on Saturdays. They simply haven't got the capacity to deliver the aid at the pace it is being cleared for delivery by the IDF.
There are no death camps in Gaza. Point to one. Do you know what a death camp is? The Jews do. Learn.
Programs? None of them either. Point to one.
Gas? Where?
White phosphorous? Where?
Ethnic cleansing? Where?
Clearly not all himanbeingsrthinkingbeings.
I can imagine books being written just on the single subject of Palestinian people being victims of their food being withheld as weapon to kill them, by Israeli colonists. There could be a library of new subjects of books all about this century of cruelty to Palestinian people by mainly the colonists, and America.

Malnutrition among *children* is spreading fast and reaching devastating and unprecedented levels in Gaza . Supplies of nutritious food have virtually run out, and for many families, the threat of dying from hunger is already real.

Anyone remember the movie wargames? It was the first time that i realised that nations do projections, concerning political , economic and military decisions it will have to make 5, 10, 20 years in the future. Being a U..K. citizen i know we do it and i have no doubt America does it so i wondered how those projections would work out, concerning Israel. At present it is viewed as a proxy in the region but is that now changing, at present No given concerns over Iran but could it become politically nescessary to cut those ties?. If you look at the political demographics of Israel there have been major changes over the past few decades. The birth rate of those with moderate to left leaning with secular views is declining add to that growing emigration of this class. Add to this the purposeful policy of having large family's amongst the religious right and conservatives has seen the rise to power of Likud and it's allies and that will see it consolidated in the future given that israeli youth are more conservative than any time in its past. Extremist religious groups have positions of power in ministerial posts and there is a growing policy towards the idea of a greater Israel. This will turn Israel into a " supposed " defensive nature to an overtly expansionist one. We could already be seeing that occuring. This projection would seriously affect U.K. and U.S. foreign policy concerning the oil rich middle east states and also their own internal politics considering how Israel is now being viewed as committing genocide in many quaters. So the question asked should be. Should we stop military aid and political support to Israel to stem its move to a more extreme outlook especially as it has nuclear capabilities? My answer would be YES and as soon as possible

Meanwhile, the occupiers are watching these types of news clips, while enjoying their family meals made from foods grown on stolen Palestinian land.
I'll never forget seeing a woman in a group blocking aid trucks (with the ok of the military who are supposed to get civilians out). And she was rocking her fat baby and laughing while no aid got 200 yards further (where I know another mother was rocking her hungry scared wounded child without hope).

One mistake here: no "democratic elections" ever in Gaza. That is one of the many Palestinian problems.
No Constitution, no free elections, heavy religious weight for a desperate people, unuseful peace demonstrations and diplomatic efforts.
Let us dream: only a forceful peace by a dissuasive international force, then a full civilian experts corpse could achieve the huge task needed there.
First humanitarian building and medical aid.
Second, quite essential, separate states and religions through Constitutions.
Third international survey of definitive borders.
Then negociations on reciprocical rights.
It will never happen because our "democracies" have no will and no strategy.
