Defending Biggin Hill Airfield From German Bomber Raid | DCS

- I'm currently off work with illness. In the meantime I am creating some small missions for the guys to complete. Today I ask them to defend Biggin Hill airfield in 1940 England from a Luftwaffe JU-88 and FW-190 raid. This is not a realistic re-enactment but rather a fun intercept. Let's see how the boys do!

Secondly as a fellow chronic illness sufferer I'd like to wish Cap all the best, and pass on an order. You look after yourself Cap, I hope you recover well, but take the time you need! I'm sure the boys will patrol the airspace while you do, and we'll still be here to keep an eye on them!

Hi Cap. My prayers are with you! If it's Cancer again , stay positive, you can beat it. I've beat it 3 times now in 9 years. Here's a tip. Strong tea with honey and 2 shots of Rum really settles the nausea. For other tips hit me up. Stay Strong.

Anyone remember that episode of Black Sheep Squadron when the B-17 commander said he didn't want any fighter support because he thought the Flying Fortresses could defend themselves and Pappy kept ignorning him and had his squadron fly escort for them? Great episode.

Fire: my condolences on the collision, but, boy was it photogenic! The tail of that bomber went right through your plane like an hot knife through butter. Plus, you hit it a full combat velocity, which sent your 2 severed parts flying in opposite directions.
This is why we attack from the rear.

Cap, I too have a chronic debilitating illness, just as someone said above, we get it, put yourself first, stay as well as you can. And I think this mission showed you’ve no worries about the guys covering when you need time out. 👍

Only yesterday I watched "The Shamrock Spitfire", about the tragically short, yet brilliant career of Brendan 'Paddy' Fincane. He was credited with 28 kills and became the youngest Wing Commander in RAF history at 21! He led No. 452 Squadron (Australians from the RAAF including Keith 'Bluey' Truscott).
It's a low-budget work, but very well done in my opinion. I expected it to be a complete farce and was rather pleasantly surprised by it.
I found this video to be very interesting for the differences in the video. There was a definite difference in sound quality/performance (?) that I put down to a difference in software/hardware/settings (?). NOT a complaint - just something I noted and found interesting.
Well done all round lads! My only suggestion would be "more Spits, less Jugs!" lol

Cap to Firedad "One day you will end up leading this band of mistfits" And today was it :), Get well Cap and great going there only 4 players yet still able to stop the attack, Good old Mossie second engine there to take the slack.
It's only 4 fighters, but one of those probably is full of cannons, while the other three have 6 or 8 .50 cals. Quite a lot more firepower than the Hurricanes and Spitfires would have had.
Well done Firedad, you are no Cap, but you are the best Firedad we could ask for! Thanks to Poosh, Cannonball and Fox Four Dark! Whilst Cap is out, I am happy that his duties are so well looked after by Team America (F... Yeah....)

FYI, both the RAF and the USAAF discouraged ramming attacks in that era. For verisimilitude, perhaps we should strive for a limit to that sort of thing. 😂

I've seen elsewhere that the lead bomber should be made "immortal" in the ME, because if you shoot it down, it can disrupt the whole formation and prevent execution of the task.
Also, vertical pure pursuit, is still pure pursuit. If you don't take the formations forward movement into consideration, your pursuit curve will flatten out and put you in a tail chase whether it's vertical or lateral (a tail chase is also pure pursuit).

The ground crew can patch those aircraft up and get them ready for flight again.

The "Jug" had Eight .50 calibre machine guns, four in each wing! Thassa lot of lead hitting the target in a single burst! The Republic Thunderbolt P-47 worked over German planes the same as my paper shredder does on envelopes!
