I've been jamming Vorinclex as my commander in Brawl and winning about 70% of my games not because the deck is good, but because opponents punt almost every single time. So many times an opponent spams "Good Game" and drops Ugin with 3 counters, then quits.
PFFFFT! I'mma be honest, that's nothing short of what the Ugin spammers deserve XD reminds me of how I beat a 5 color super value deck with 5 color Party in brawl. Hehehe, suck that Ugin!
So, I've been playing a list similar to this after seeing your version crop up on mtgazone. The list as-is is pretty great, but I made some alterations based on your Twitter recommendation, personal preference, and better BO1 consistency. My changes: I cut all 4 Lukkas. I know your Twitter recommended 2, but I didn't see the point when t4/5 Vorinclex is often good enough I added the following cards: Third Heartless Act [I like the instant speed] One Extinction Event [all our creatures are even] One Massacre Wurm [flex spot, I like the card but 4th Heartless Act is probably better] One more basic, bumping it to 25 lands to make it less likely to miss the 6th land drop for a foretold Ugin [happened twice when testing the original list]. This deck is super basic hungry and I ran out of basics more often than I'd like in the base version. My final land situation was: 1x Mountain [cutting Lukka meant you only need 1 red source at a time for Tibalt, and you can still play Valki if you don't have it] 4x Darkbore Pathway 4x Fabled Passage 1x Ketria Triome [so you can fetch red off of Binding] 1x Zagoth Triome [I felt I'd rather have an extra basic than more B/G duals for Binding] 1x Castle Locthwain 6x Forest 7x Swamp I cut all the red duals since the deck only needs 1 for Tibalt and it has 16 ways to find one past the two actual lands [Cultivate, Binding, Solemn, Fabled Passage]. I changed the Snow Lands to regular basics because I'm playing BO1 and not playing Blood on the Snow, so they're a liability on the off chance an opponent is playing Redaine. Edit: Additionally, I tried to make this deck work with Gyruda, since Lukka and Cultivate are the only odds, but losing Cultivate is a huge problem for the deck. Do not recommend. Edit 2: Beyond Ugin and Vorinclex[obvious], the cards that have most impressed me are Dream Devourer, Binding the Old Gods, and Valki/Tibalt. Dream Devourer is _way_ better ramp than I gave it credit for, and I was high enough on the card I crafted 4 day 1; it's been overperforming, especially vs aggressive decks. Binding the Old Gods is just a nice clean 2-for-1, but it feels so good to have an answer to everything that also helps ramp to Ugin. I've yet to drop a game where Tibalt hits the battlefield, and Valki on 2 to snipe Anax from Mono-Red is an absolute beating for their curve.
Sounds like good updates. I'm current at two Lukka and added in Extinction Events to replace the two I cut. Also very much agree about Dream Devourer, it's really good and a lot more playable than I thought it would be.
I too made a few tweaks that i think are really nice. I replaced the Lukkas with 2 Goldpsan dragon added 2 extinction event and instead of Lilliana i am running GB nissa. Foretelling goldspan is insane. Nissa and goldspan helps with even more ramp so now we have more ways to cast vorinclex and tibalt ahead of schedule.
My first reaction was to remove all the luccas. What about an elspeth’s nightmare or two or a couple great henges for added bustedness ( vorinclex would double counters on creatures)
Yeah, I didn't really either until I started playing with it. It's a big reason why I think Vorinclex is so good in Standard. Shutting down the opponent's counters (and Sagas) is actually a pretty strong form of protection in the current meta.
ngl, i think the deck would be a lot weaker without it. Almost wanna say it carried the deck. Non conditional removal and ramp on a card for 4 mana, when he plays deck that needs to hit 6 mana asap. How do you play against that?... Busted-oppressive.

Vorinclex is so good because so many things utilize counter mechanics, and by itself doubles the power of your own while hating your opponent's. I don't know yet if it's completely game breaking since the meta might be able to adapt to less counter reliant mechanics and since it's got zero protection, permission and removal could be enough to prevent it from completely taking over like Uro and Omnath did. Buuuttt, we don't really know yet though, there's so much ramp that Vorinclex decks could be too much. Either way, freaking great matches!

Yeah, right now they aren't on Arena videos but are on MTGO videos. The problem we ran into is that we had to shrink down the overlay so much that it wasn't very readable (or keep it big and cover stuff on the screen). Hopefully we can make some more changes to get them back into Arena video as well.
I've been running Abzan control with Vorinclex + Kaya + Garruk + Ugin and it is absolutely brutal. Eerie Ultimatum lets you put Vorinclex into play alongside all your planeswalkers, which doubles there starting loyalty and lets you ultimate all of them the turn you play the ultimatum. Once Kaya is ulted, you get a free copy of any of your planeswalkers or Vorinclex, every turn (e.g. you can -7 your free Ugin every turn to clear the board).
I mean Vorinclex has a wall of text, but that 6/6 trample haste pretty much wins on its own from my experince. 😅 the other effects are a really nice bonus though.
Fun fact: Emergent Ultimatum allows you to cast the other side of the dual cards from Kaldheim so you can search for Valki with it and get Tibalt. In fact I'm brewing up a list already for the deck!
What would you exchange for the 4 lucca's? I have barely any of them and don't think they're necessary for the deck. More ramp? More early game removal?
Isn't it possible to replace Lukka with Vivien? This way the mana is easier to achieve and you can T5 Vivien get a blocker, T6 tick Vivien down, play Vorinclex, get Tibalt? Not sure about if it's working this way, but should be. Tibalt cant ult right away, but gets +4 with the Vorinclex on the battlefield.
Unfortunately it doesn't work with Vivien. Just tested it on arena myself since I was already testing ways to cheat him in. I think it's because Vivien only allows you to put a creature onto the battlefield, where as other ways to put him in such as G-Wave or Emergent allow you to put any thing into play.
Ideas for future jank: Haunting Voyage Clerics (For Vito + Righteous Valkyrie combo kill). In search of Greatness + Sagas/Omens (there's also that red spell that requires you to sacrifice a creature or enchantment to deal 5)
Vorinclex is actually lowkey good into the meta. While he doesn’t counter the actual Adventure cards, he stops Sagas from working, makes it so Ugin cant reset the board, and makes it so Great Henge doesnt pump the team. Some notes after watching the video. Lukka clearly needs to go. He never got cast and felt bad to draw. It’d be best to likely replace it with either removal (Eliminate) or maybe Klothys just due to it providing both ramp and nice life gain to let you survive. Also I think Blood in the Snow should be Extinction Event. Its just a cheaper board wipe and you need board wipes asap when you need them.

I think that pulling Lukka for a Klothys and 3 Kroxa mainboard would be my first alteration. The idea is solid, but this isn't Lukka's list. Also, I'm not sure about Blood on the Ice or Frost Bite here. I really love Scooze next to Vorinclex too... Man, this is a playable standard Jund and I'm stoked about that. And I know this isn't my list, I'm just thinking via text.
Seth you should try abzan with Kaya instead of lukka. If she ultimates you can keep looping pieces of the combo also your mana is better with triomes. You can get away with running a savai triome and/or a world tree and maybe a mountain for tibalt.
I just realise most if not all of the things in that deck are historic, so things that care about historic or legendary could be something to keep in mind

I think so. Tibalt is worth it and if we're already splashing for Tibalt it's not that much of a stretch to just be a full Jund deck.

I tried to ECD a Vorinclex on day one of Kaldheim and thought it was a bug that it didn’t work. Holy shit, I JUST realized why...
Seth you should try abzan with Kaya instead of lukka. If she ultimates you can keep looping pieces of the combo also your mana is better with triomes. You can get away with running a savai triome and/or a world tree and maybe a mountain for tibalt.
Or play sultai with Emergent Ultimatum and cast Tibalt, Vori, and what ever else.

I just realise most if not all of the things in that deck are historic, so things that care about historic or legendary could be something to keep in mind
What about Varragoth instead of Lukka?
I'm pretty medium on Varragoth, could try it though!
@@MTGGoldfish could be removed pretty easily, but maybe the set up is easier than with Lukka.
