1:04:15 opponent was as confused as you because he couldn’t exile anything (that’s why he was hovering over the cards) the answer was they were all lands skyclave can not exile lands
Ive been saying it for years! #1 reason why Tibalt (OG) is amazing is because everyone else thinks its bad, so they don’t waste removal on it. Took 24th at scg regionals with tibalt cause people let it stick too long
I know you use it for the upper part of the text, but there are a few times where you could have activated the bottom part of Nexus to make some shapeshifters with your open mana for some "free" bodies.
Maskwood Nexus needed to be on the field to pull off the instant kill. If he activated it there then he would have only been able to get the few natural gods in the deck. At the time there wasn't enough mana to do both so waiting was the correct play.
Seth being surprised that Vorinclex stops Binding from working... I'm literally just dying here laughing. Seth please, you've been talking about how insane Vorinclex is at shutting down Sagas literally since the new set released.
The skyclave apparition couldn’t target any of your creatures because ashaya makes them lands. Skyclave is non-land permanents. Pretty sweet interaction! Also yeah nexus makes tokens 🤣
I think a one of Purphoros would make this deck more consistent. When Maskwood isn't on the field it allows you to potentially still get a world tree win by pulling out your gods and giving them all haste. You also mentioned "waiting a turn" if the Terror burn plan doesn't work immediately. This fixes that issue by letting you attack with everything right away. It also goes well with Goldspan when you draw it by letting you put it into play for 3 mana and then making a treasure immediately. You can turn on your legendary creatures with Esika faster as well and use the tap for mana ability right away and also get Magda to tap for treasures.
thank you! i wasn’t so sure about it, but i figured not every intro has to be super memey, and some can just be a bit niche, so i decided to include it, and all the positive feedback has made me really happy! :)
Seth: I really just wanna activate the world tree! Also seth: 21:27 already has mana for world tree and doesnt do it. He still got there but like, he gets so excited sometimes he doesnt even see the line.
I was wondering this myself. Control opponent offered to let seth kill his win condition but he instead chose to fight a losing race against a potentially unlockable 7/7
Am I the only one who thinks that the eldrazi processors where way ahead of their time? They really would help keep adventure and foretell cards in check plus it would encourage this magical thing called interaction.
I miss when you showed what the opponent was playing. It was really helpful when I first started playing magic to learn all the decks in the meta, and I'm sure it is for other beginners too.
13:45 any reason not to block here? It forces them to go off UU counter magic if they want it back and also has to either play that or hold counter magic once they untap. 1:23:53 Was this recorded before or after you did the jund vorinclex deck? Monoblackmagic did a deck using the gods in the side and just been a jund midrange/control deck although that was BO1 maybe have 3 to grab in the side and rest for matchups for BO3.
Btw between all the Maskwood Nexus posts, I don't see anyone mentioning that Ashaya turns off Skyclave Apparition since the latter says "nonland" and Ashaya turns all creatures into lands :)
7:45 you had world tree activation because of the treasures making two mana off the goldspan dragon; seems like adding a few theros gods could make tree activations pretty insane without nexus too
I think just playing Gods and no Maskwood Nexus is better as you said at the end. With Goldspan making treasures tap for 2 getting up to 10/11 mana is easy!
Ok, ignoring the primary piloting punt, this deck looks really fun and seems to have a lot of potential. I disagree a bit with the build however. I would have expected see both Birgi and Tergrid at least once. Either they come out as gods with the Tree even without the Nexus or you can cast their back side if they are on your hand which I feel are well worth it. (If nothing else at least to bait some artifact removal to protect your Nexus down the line.) Also I wonder if Svella would work in the deck. I know he is slow ramp but at least more permanent than treasures. Less synergistic with the dragon I guess but might be worth testing. And last but not least why not play the Path to the World Tree. You are already 5 color so why not bait out some artifact+enchantment removal on turn 2? Plus "draw two cards" man, "draw two cards" (for only 9 mana, Tomer would be proud.)
I play something sort of like that... it didnt came to my mind use the terror of the peaks... But i use mystic reflection on carterhoof behemoth or thieves guild enforcer after casting and resolving phylath. To say that is clunky is an understatement but boy thats some fun way to win
Why concede at 1:15:51? Is there something I'm missing? The bridge is still some action and a 1/4 dork isn't much pressure, they have more cards but Seth still has comeback potential
The deck looks sweet, despite the games being extremely laggy ^^ Also, I love you Seth, it's a good idea to have a filmed intro, but could you maybe consider asking for a good camera as a business expense ?
So with the world tree play and then using nexus to turn everything into Gods, wouldn't it also be a decent idea to put like one copy of Crashing Drawbridge in so that you can tap it after ETB giving EVERYTHING else haste? or throw in Kenrith the Returned King if you know you could have one Red to pay for all creatures gain trample and haste?
@@KarmicMishap Didn't even think of that! Yeah, they're dead to Terror of the Peaks. I sent in my comment while watching and wasn't at that part in the video yet.
The moment where the opponent is confused and trying to figure out why Skyclave apparition couldn't exile Seth's creatures AND Seth doesn't realize what is happening is hilarious. Because Ashaya turns all of the creatures into lands as well they're no longer legal targets for skyclave apparition since it can only hit nonland permanents with cmc 4 or less.
Doesn't deal 2 damage to opponent with Kothys because he wants to activate world tree instead and the 2 damage plus attacking would kill them. Doesn't realize he could use the mana produced by Kothys and the land in hand to activate world tree without attacking. Seth pls, the cards have text and do things!
still love your videos but, I kinda miss the deck techs, yes they were a little bit long sometimes and a little to comprehensive, but this is a litte bit to short and without closeups of key cards i forget most of them until the games. i think the way you did them on much abrew was a nice compromise, just 2-3 minutes, but with a litte explanation and a picture for the important cards.
(Around 8:40) It is quite likely you would have gotten it game one of the video. Pity, the opponent was right was probably to scoop, still a pity though.
Hey love the show and all the guys on the goldfish crew. Is there any possibility of you guys ever trying DnD on something like twitch? If there was enough demand of course
1:15:52 Why would you scoop here? All's they have is a 1/4 and you have the mana for prismatic Bridge, I still feel like there's a game here especially because you have gold spans that can fly in for the kill
I'm not upset about the maskwood tokens, but I am upset at the concession at 1:15 in Match 5 Game 1. They had a 1/4 and you had a prismatic bridge, meaning you were ahead on board. Why would you concede?
Question: is 7-mana Tibalt better than 7-mana Karn? Is cheating Tibalt into play a more powerful deck than Tron? Though it's almost certainly less consistent.
to be fair Eldraine is the set that keeps gruul midrang/aggro being a thing. Its also the set that keeps mono red winning even when they lose the board (thanks to Cleave and the giant, the most used red card in standard) and kinda is the deck that keeps Rogues being good because without drown and the refill that deck will runout of gas pretty quickly. Eldraine is just too strong-
Huh. I guess we should have made some 2/2's...
Love ya Seth never change
I've half finished a draft with Nexus, elves, and the tribal fun keeps rolling.
Came here to say just that. Lol, my three year old was asking what was wrong as I'm screaming at the tv, "USE THE NEXUS!"
you went the entire video dying from not making them
Anyone else losing their minds watching Seth repeatedly not making 2/2 shapeshifters with Nexus?
Yup. Literally 3/4 of the commenters.
Based on the commente, yes :)
1:04:15 opponent was as confused as you because he couldn’t exile anything (that’s why he was hovering over the cards) the answer was they were all lands skyclave can not exile lands
That's exactly what I came here to say! It's why I love Ashaya! So good against a lot of types of removal
Its made even more funny by the fact that Seth doesn’t realize it either
Just because it’s a card in the deck name doesn’t mean Seth is going to read the text on it. That’s why we’re here
There are too many words these days. Who has time to read all of them?
Hey seth you know maskwood has an activated ability right?
does he know that maskwood makes tokens? lol
It's Seth, the answer is "Of course not" ma dude 😂 we love you Seth
hopefully that's the explanation cuz many turns i was just very confused
I guess he don't.
It's the "hidden" mode of maskwood lol

Why are you not making 2/2 changlings during this game 40:30

These recent intros are really good!
Finally, Against the Odds is back to standard. Been a minute.
These meme intros are the greatest addition to this channel. Superb job editor
7:05 Goldspan Dragon doubles the mana from your treasures. You had enough to activate World Tree.
I came to the comments to make this comment....
I noticed that too. He could have activated it after blockers are declared, but the board would be vulnerable to a board wipe on opponent's next turn.
He was wanting to wait and get both nexus and the worldtree
Maskwood Nexus needed to be on the field to pull off the instant kill. If he activated it there then he would have only been able to get the few natural gods in the deck. At the time there wasn't enough mana to do both so waiting was the correct play.
