Greg Davies's father made sure that his son was born on Welsh soil so that when Greg became a rugby international, he would play for Wales. Fortunately for comedy, Greg showed little talent for rugby, but he retains a sense of connection to his Welsh roots and, two years after his dad's death, wants to know more about them. Greg gets more than he bargained for when he identifies a wayward great-grandfather but is rewarded when the trail leads further back to the deepest Welsh roots anyone could wish for.

I thinks it's cool that the death of his ancestor lead to a local legend. Pretty neat.

He was in my class at school. I didn't realise it was him for years until he went back to visit our old school 😲😂

Fascinating genealogy, all the way through. I also can’t help but think that Dr. Tarleton who witnessed the drowning was a relation to the famous Revolutionary War soldier Banastre Tarleton, whose family came from Liverpool, which is not far from North Wales.

Although it is a very sad story of his great grandfather's death, somehow it is interesting to have a relative who - in death - became a local ghost story

Horses - for those who don't know, and care to know- are afraid of moving water.

Horses have poor depth perception, they aren’t afraid of water. I’ve ridden horses in the sea in Barbados and I think they enjoyed it even more than me!

@@rhiburgess5616 Sorry,, I was just quoting from a program on horse(back) trekking. But do note I said moving water.
They do seem to like to swim; but I don't know if that's because of how they enter the water - they also panic when caught by floods.
      And horse can be trained.

@@papagarth I definitely think it's the unknown/shock factor - as you say with floods and unfamiliar situations. They can't anticipate what the water is going to do or how to navigate. But also agree that they can be trained - the ones I rode loved swimming and would go right out to the breakwater barriers so that the water was up over their backs and up to my middle!

One of his great grandfathers was reputedly tall, the son of Evan, who drowned.
