I love how The Hair Trigger would actually have some use for the 2 classes who can use pistols. The scout could use it to light people on fire for the Sun on a Stick, and the engineer could use it to spycheck.
I dont see why you wouldn't just keep shooting them with the hair trigger tho it would be better then going for a melee kill and im pretty that mini crits with scouts don't do that much more damage with the melee then base damage
@@Xx_SuperPenis_xX due to the reduced clip size of the hair trigger and faster firing speed you would run out of bullets quickly, using the Sun as a finisher helps preserve longevity.

Yeah, the flaming barrels, and even the fireplace. It's functioning fire, so you can lite arrows! Sure Would Be Neat If Any Of The Other Fire Props Did That.

Scout being able to ignite an enemy on his own makes sun on a stick unironically for a new combo scout. Nothing that crazy, shooting someone twice with the scatter gun will usually be better but it’d give the scout a real reason to get its passive without just giving up their melee slot entirely
Just found you and watched your three main videos back-to-back (4 Slot Heavy, Crossbow, and this), and I gotta say, your ideas are some of the most creative I've seen. If all your main suggestions from all these videos got in the game, I think it would just be a massive positive for TF2.

This is such a thought out proposal of changes to the game, not to mention the fact you went the extra mile or ten to hire artists and designers to make it look as genuine to the in game universe and then present it all in an entertaining video format. It's... Quite beautiful. And genuine. Good luck, you and the rest of those involved in this project have a good day too.

One thing fire-based weapons could do is rather than setting afterburn itself, is that they can extend any afterburn already there, plus maybe giving a few more weapons the ability to apply it consistently.
@@PO10TIAL I imagine it ought to be, since that's how the flamethrower's particles work, since the duration depends on the amount of fire particles someone gets hit with.
"aw man, how did i miss this channel this is good content" ... "how the fuck does this guy have less than 20k subs and all these very good videos what"
As for Batsaber, C.A.P.P.E.R and Shooting Star: give current owners of Unique quality an upgrade to Strange, and owners of Strange to Unusual. Then add unique quality to item drop. Then you can re-arrange the stats for them as separate weapons instead of reskins.
@@HolySnickerPuffs Yes, but I worry that upgrading to Vintage quality might impact the pricing negatively. It's just a different colored frame on the item slot, after all.
What you did with the capper is actually something that happened in a game called era warfare, where a reskin got it's stats changed to be a reskin of another weapon
@@PO10TIAL Era warfare is one of the 3 Roblox versions of TF2, (the others being TC2 and Tetragon fortress) There was a reskin of Soldiers stock melee called the "Comically large spoon" witch had it's stats changed to be that of the market gardener
Po10, you consistently make the videos that I'd want to make if I ever got into Youtubing. Making all laser and electrical weapons use the fire/heat damage type is a 👌👌👌 suggestion, and I've been thinking along the lines included elsewhere in the vid for a long time. Cheers!
(in more detail, creating useful reskins to avoid tricky "balancing vs the market" questions has been a go-to notion of mine for a while, so I really respect that you actually made such a reskin. And the SotS, among tbh most Scout melees, would benefit gigantically from having a ball projectile. All stock melees need a boost and a distinctifier tbh, and Scout's stock would really like having a free 60 dmg ball to launch out)
this may sound silly, but i love this idea so much from a design standpoint. taking a goofy, vintage hairdryer and turning it into a pistol is a super cool design.
First of all, I think that this is a really good concept to ensure that many, many more items have great usecases. I genuinely appreciate the care you took to ensure that those reskins were handled in a way that was focused on the playerbase's needs, all the while maintaining an actually interesting design! Well done :) Second of all, this has inspired me to post about an idea I've had for a while, now. I don't have a modeller for this, so unfortunately I can't submit it for the summer update... Oh well! I would be interested to hear your take on it since you have such an apt, design oriented mind. Here it is: *The Steamy Stoker:* This weapon is a shoddily cobbled together weapon, consisting of a modified pressure washer affixed with a wide, round shower nozzle, and a small boiler chamber made of glass and metal retaining bands with a red-hot stove element inside. There are a few cracked temperature and pressure guages on the weapon as well as pipes and bolts connecting everything together. A haze of steamy, boiling water is spewed from the nozzle instead of fire, and because it's so damn hot, its damage type *is* still fire. As for the stats: +15% damage This weapon works underwater Primary fire extinguishes and then soaks both teammates *and* enemies with 0.5 seconds of continuous exposure Primary fire deals mini-crits against enemies who are still on fire Primary fire pushes against projectiles -30% ammo *No airblast* *No afterburn* This weapon allows the Pyro to have multiple new strategies, as well as finally offers a truly damage boosted "flamethrower" to their arsenal. It can still spy check, as it does apply a visible after-effect to cloaked enemies, but it's not as effective as any other primary. The mechanic about pushing projectiles completely removes the offensive capabilities of airblast, but maintains the defensive/supportive one. A pyro can spray directly into an incoming projectile to slow it and almost catch it, then can strafe to the side to curve it well away from any useful target. With the limited ammo this is risky, but it's still more defense than the phlog has! One of the strategies is, of course, a land shark. The stoker soaks enemies, and the Neon Annihilator obliterates enemies who are soaked. This is a titch more fair than the classic full crits Axtinguisher though, because you cannot stunlock the enemy into an easy melee with airblast. An interesting resurgence of puff-n-sting (douse-n-bite? soak-n-stoke?) and a buff in viability for the Neon. One can also use flare guns to combo off of the minicrits upon extinguishing enemies, which is fun! I can see some Scorch Shot/Gaspasser into w+m1 hell xD But the strategy I am most excited about is a new mechanic that I think would work amzingly with this concept. Permafire. This will be a new type of afterburn that isn't extingishable except for maybe jumping into a large basin of water, and can affect Pyros, too. It would be given to the Sharpened Volcano Fragment. This new ability of the Volcano fragment would allow you to do a reversed pyro combo, where you strike with the melee first, and then absolutely *melt* someone with the Steamthrower. Because it deals minicrits while the enemy is still on fire... and they can't be extinguished. You'll be dealing a meanacing +53% damage over the stock flamer. Provided you open with a melee strike. That's about it! Thanks for reading :)
I think that's a lot of new ideas, which seem really interesting! Honestly, it might be doable with the plugin I used, tf2maps.net/downloads/vscript-give_tf_weapon.14897/ I like the fact that it's combo focused, but still gives multiple paths to Get to the combo. I don't know how "pushes against projectiles" would work; hopefully, not like a continuous airblast. If it had similar properties to the Short Circuit alt fire, and just _fizzled_ projectiles that were fired at you, rather than reflecting them, that might be neat! There's actually a few "water" based flamethrowers on the Workshop, as is! Key among them is the steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=148354347 Summer Steamer. If you could get the VScript up and running, I'm sure that you could ask permission! Can't say it's good or bad, because with a change this big, it's hard to predict, and harder to get a playtest for. But, even if it's bad, IF you get a playtest up and running for it, that'll be worth it in it's own right!
@@PO10TIAL Hey! Thanks for the reply :), and thank you for going out of your way to provide a link for an existing model, as well, that's awesome. The pushing projectiles thing is something like a continuous airblast, but not quite. It will never reverse the direction that a projectile travels in. What it does is gradually apply velocity to the projectile in the direction that the steam hits it in, but never enough to do more than slow it. If you just stand still and spew at a projectile, it will still hit you, just slower. You can, however, jump and spew downwards to make the projectile hit the ground. Allowing for a stupidly technically complex "reflect" jump. Or you can strafe to the side to make it swerve around you by attacking its side. The Steamy Stoker basically gives the pyro bullet-time at the cost of a very sizeable amount of its limited ammo pool.
I can tell you really threw some thought into this "hot" pan of ideas. It really would make fire, as a damage type, make so much more sense. So many new weapons would deal fire damage, and by extension, afterburn. This would also make a slew of other weapons finally have a use in countering fire, as well. The way you handled the specific cases was also really cool.
I love your music choices. Especially the Zelda and Dark Cloud 2 ones 🙂 These two games were a big part of me becoming a gamer in my childhood. I also appreciate your calm and constructive tone 🙂 Keep it up!
Extremely same. I'm glad to be able to include them, in whatever it is I'm making. Dark Cloud 2, in particular, was one of my favorites growing up. I appreciate the kind words! I think a lot of TF2 content is really cynical or ironic nowadays, and while there's certainly a place for it, I wouldn't mind carving out my own niche of being genuine and thoughtful.
This video is insanely good for a channel with less than 2K subs. The thumbnail and presentation itself are both genuinely the kind of things you'd expect from a channel with 50K subs.
I'm glad you clarified that fire and afterburn would be handled separately. Afterburn is one of my least favorite mechanics in the game, so hearing you suggest that more weapons should do it was horrifying lol
I'd love to see a playable version of the teu-tonic someday, also exited 2 see more of your ideas as well, if a server ever goes up to test these things I'd jump in immediately if I got the chance to
Yeah, I mean, could you imagine if there was a long range exploding projectile that ignited in an AoE? Like, man, that'd be. That'd be insane. That'd prolly be like, for the Pyro, or something. Some kinda Shooter of Scorches. That'd be. Whoof. Glad that's not in the game.
thhese ideas are phenomenal! the hair trigger is a really cool idea for a weapon, and i do get that the goal was to keep it as close to stock as possible, but i feel that its a bit _too_ similar. weapons with more unique attributes are always nice, and i think i have an idea for how to separate it a bit more, while still keeping it in theme with both the hair trigger and the capper. what if it had a higher sustained dps than the pistol, through the fire damage and maybe increased damage, so it rewards you for staying on your target for a long time, but to counteract this, it would have an "overheat" meter, and firing the weapon would increase this meter quickly. if the meter reaches the max, it would overheat, damaging and igniting you instead. this would make players think about getting too greedy, and also fits perfectly with the hair trigger being a -colossal fire hazard- perfectly safe hair care tool, and the capper being a high tech alien ray gun probably prone to malfunctioning since the mercs dont use it properly. another idea i had was to make the ignition stat based on falloff, with it igniting enemies quicker when upclose [because of the huge fire burst], while taking more shots further away. either way, i love these ideas! great video! :>
Ive just discovered all of your videos and I LOVE them! I was curious if you ever intended to get into game design and if you had any schooling on the matter. You come up with brilliant ideas and think of every detail, cant wait for the next one :)

Reach for the skies my incredible friend! Honestly, I think there's a good shot this video goes viral... RUclips recommended it to me not too long ago, so perhaps there is a chance that the TF community gets to see this video along with your other content. Sure, it doesn't seem like you upload very much, but goddamn, if this isn't possibly the best delivered and most concise pitch I have seen in a while. I truly hope that this is a video that the TF team takes a look at for both the changes and the weapon itself. Lets see if they can't see the potential lying right in front of them.
Thank you? I think? Not sure if this means that I'm a godtier channel that got recommended, or if youtube failed the challenge of recommending godtier channels, by recommending me. Choosing to interpret it as the first one!
Now, lets say, hypothetically, that somebody once told me that the world would proceed to roll me, and made the claim that I was not, the smartest tool in the shed. Which would lead us to look at the facts and see that she was looking kind of dumb, due to the fact that she had placed her finger and her thumb, in the shape of the letter L, located on her forehead. This would mean that the years would start coming, and logically wont stop coming, that I was, hypothetically, fed to the rules, which would proceed with me hitting the ground running. Which didn’t make sense, to live for fun, in a way that your brain gets smart, yet your head gets dumb, seeing as there’s so much to do, and so much to see, so now I must pose the question, what is wrong with taking the backseat? This is due to the fact that you’ll never know if you don’t go, nor you will shine if you don’t glow. For you see, you are, at this moment, an All-Star, so get your game on, and proceed to go play, indeed, you’re an All-Star, get the show on, which would entitled you to get paid. That would mean that all that glitters, is indeed gold, and that only shooting stars, can participate in the process of breaking the mold.
the thing about fire is that its a gimmick through and through. with other gimmicks, you'd generally be comboing with other players or with a specific loadout (like the famed bushwaka+knife) fire is essentially weak on its own, and basically requires you to combo with it to do well. this is why flamethrower and flare gun is a great combo, and the scorch shot is broken because it can combo with itself, as well as why the dragons fury is so good, because it can combo with itself and requires aim, so its not a straight upgrade
there is another complication i see: melee weapon is the unspoken of 4th damage type (melee damage) so all of the melees like SoaS, batsaber, extinguisher and 3th degree in it's current form can't and should do fire damage (at least directly with the melee attack) in addition to that, most of the weapons who currently suffer from lack of fire don't suffer from lack of fire damage, but rather lack of the DoT debuff afterburn (as the vast majority of these fire boosted weapons are effected by the debuff itself rather then the damage type, so the axetiguisher, SoaS, the huntsman, Hue long heater, and all the flare guns check for the afterburn debuff to gain the bonus. the only three weapon types who benefit/suffer from this are the spycile (which now can be melted a lot more often via all the laser weapons) the vacinator (which now has to go to the fire damage type for a lot more causes) and the shields (who can actually use their fire resistances a lot more) another thing is, the shooting star, c.a.p.p.e.r and batsaber are reskins, wouldn't make sense to change their damage type but keep them the exact same (so now we have hitscan fire damages, oof) and lastly: why do we have to be content with how these weapons are now? many of them should be changed HLH's ring of fire is one of the worse things heavy has in general as even noob spies can evade it if they know to jump above the wall, SoaS and man melter still require the after burn to come from other sorces rather then have your own way to light enemies/teammate on fire the 3th degree is still a complete upgrade in addition to be a useless complete upgrade for some god forsaken reason fire or bullet damage the pompson and bison remain in the garbage and need a complete rework and buff respectively but changing the laser weapons to fire damage, yes i agree, make the cow mangler, bison pompson and short circit do fire damage this is a fine change
Honestly while a neat idea it definitely feels like something that works a bit well on Paper, mostly because I think there are two major problems with this idea that weren’t addressed. 1. Indirectly buffing weapons that really don’t need it: While the idea of adding more afterburn is nice, you would have to change some weapons to fit that mold. Specifically the Darwin’s Danger shield and the vaccinator, two weapons that completely shut down Pyro can now do it for classes that just happened to equip the wrong weapon. 2. Spy gets screwed over harder: Spy is easily the weakest class in TF2 without a doubt, due to his small health pool, poor post backstab survivability and of course when he’s revealed he’s pretty much done for, giving more classes the ability to reveal a spy with no cost when they really shouldn’t have it (Engineer specifically comes to mind) then Spy has no place in the game when so much is against him and before you bring up the spycicle it still basically removes Spy’s main mode of damage with one touch of fire. I don’t think this is a bad idea but I just think it was poorly thought out and the video didn’t really go into the issues with this sort of change outside of changing reskins for some reason. But regardless I hope you don’t take this criticism to harshly and I wish you luck on your custom weapon for the game.
I feel the phlog and flairs options can but our either alot of damage that warrants damage resistance or can put out enonugh afterburn to at least anoy people into equipping things that improve effectiveness for it My opinion may be scued as most of my play time has been pyro, but I've set entire teams on fire with just the detonator alone and or flair punched enough medic to see a switch to the vac itself There may not be alot of class diversity that deals fire damage, but the class that does do it can be incredibly effective at it This is mainly an argument for the vaccinator having that damage resistance, but I will say the other classes ability to play off it is incredible dependent on if the pyro is good at spreeding afterburn more then killing, if there is a pyro at all
Some of the weapons considered "garbage" here are questionable. The Cow Mangler is just stock but with unlimited ammo and less effective against buildings. The Short Circuit easily deleting your biggest counters is good. The Danger Shield almost completely counters scorch shot spam.
Well, half of the Short Circuit is a good weapon. The other half is a shrinky dink pistol with pisspoor range that eats through your metal like a termite through wood. Plus, like you said, it's in the same slot as the Wrangler. Doesn't matter how good something is, if it's going up against The Supreme
@@PO10TIAL there is one situation where it is superior to the Wrangler, that is pushing the cart. You cant really use a sentry to push cart (so you cant use a wrangler), and the sheer spammability of the short circuit thanks to the cart resupply is absolutely insane, so basically demos and soldiers can say goodbye to doing damage. Best used in tight corridors, like the tunnel on Badwater, Upward and Hightower.
I'd actually swap things around with the Shooting Star and Bat Saber, and add one more little change. Leave the Shooting Star as bullet damage, I think Sniper should only deal bullet damage with sniper rifles as a balancing thing, considering it's not immediately obvious what that Sniper across the map is using, and having a blanket "if I want to mitigate the threat of being sniped, I should equip something to deal with bullet damage" seems reasonable. Rolling the dice on whether that Sniper you're trying to avoid is using a damage type you're unprepared for isn't such a good idea in my book. The Bat Saber, on the other hand, could be made to deal fire damage easily. Just switch the item it's a reskin of from the stock bat to the Sun-on-a-Stick, and have that deal fire damage on hit instead of melee damage (or in addition to that, however it works for the S.V.F.). I think it makes sense, both are bright and flashy melee weapons that advertise how potentially hot they are at a glance. Besides, there's a ton of stock melee reskins already, I think it's fine to give up one to give a reskin to another.
I think the pomson needs fastest projectile speed more than anything and remove the cloak drain for the afterburn, and it'll still counters spy somewhat as well as buff it's mediocre damage in general.
2:05 Using Dark Cloud's Fairy King music, very nice 9:00 Well I'd rather not spend $20 on a video game weapon, so I wouldn't care if they were cheapened 10:45 I'd use the Hair Trigger, would definitely make the SoaS more useable
@@PO10TIAL Indeed you did I watched the other two afterwards and enjoyed them, I agree that Dark Cloud is a great game though my friend Else says the camera is terrible, which I can agree
@@rockowlgamer631 oh no, the games are horrible. I love them to death, they're some of the most influential pieces of media I've ever gotten the privilege to experience, and they're bad. Just like the Laser Weapons!
@@PO10TIAL The only problems I have with Dark Cloud is weapon durability draining a bit too fast, the characters not getting enough development like how Max and Monica did, and...........the camera can be a bit annoying. The positives outweigh it tremendously. The music, the towns, dungeons, stories (especially Queens oof), hell I loved the putting the town back together mechanics part.
I think there are some unused concepts of weapons from the pomson-themed style of weapons, so if you need to throw more fire damage-based laser weapons into the mix, that would be a great place to start.
I know Grordbort and WETA workshops had a few other designs, but I don't know if they got fully modeled, let alone particled and foleyd. I'd be down to check, though.
@@PO10TIAL Keeping to that topic, if you really want to make the Pomson shine again: increase its projectile speed a smidge, bring back the penetration it once had (might be misremembering) and add diminishing afterburn time for each player it passes through, but keep the initial afterburn time low. Now you have a harassment weapon you can shoot from your sentry nest to assist the frontlines or to assist your sentry. And the afterburn damage would make up for the decreased mag capacity, compared to the stock shotgun, while penalizing you if you miss. *Deep inhale* And, if you want to make the sun on a stick a fun weapon on top of hitting a ball of fire like the sandman's baseball, make it do afterburn damage and the duration of it based on how far you landed the hit up to a set maximum AND make the melee crits on burning players into mini crits if you add the Hair Trigger pistol as you now have more sources of afterburn damage (make the Hair Trigger ignite after 3 shots so you can ignite up to 3 players if you're accurate enough with that 9 mag capacity). All of this would make for a cool "Fire Scout **cough** Little devil **cough**" subclass and really drive home the counter fire damage loadout given how annoying scouts already are. All that being said, it would come down to LOTS of playtesting over a few months to balance out the variables of damage, afterburn damage and a few other ones as no one like being set on fire. I'll keep it at that as I'm already getting a faint idea of how the Huo Long Heater can be made better with this new fire damage renaissance.
honestly one of my main problems with laser weapons is that they have slow, "blurry" projectiles and it feels awkward to follow their trajectory with my eyes. the manmelter especially is just weird to shoot
I would not call the Mangler bad. As long as you're not crit boosted or fighting an engineer's buildings its rockets are the same as stock, you get an extra one in the magazine and you actually do have to worry about running out if rockets.
They actually nixed the 5 rockets thing a while ago. It's more or less just stock, but bad at getting critz or dealing with buildings, now. Which, is why I say it's bad. It's Fine, because what it's based on, the Rocket Launcher, is one of the best guns in the game, and it's basically just that. But when every other unlock in the slot does something genuinely unique with the concept of firing rockets, just being Fine leaves you in last place. It's definitely a better gun than something like the Pomson, but it's nonetheless something that can be improved. Hence, the video.
@@PO10TIAL Huh. I guess I spent too much time using it in MVM where I'd upgrade clip size and forgot what the default was. I still use it a lot though because of the "don't need to hunt ammo" though.

I really hope they werent messing with us when they said "items" it would be nice to have something like a minigun that actually shakes up heavy gameplay and a huntsman that actually functions differently
Please please please PLEASE keep up the content! Your videos are so well produced for a small creator. I don't even play TF2 and I've watched all of your videos so far, and have sincerely enjoyed every single one.
I'm honored! I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I can't put something I don't like out, which isn't the best for things like this. But; it DOES mean that I hold myself to an unrealistic standard, for one person! So. Y'know, I got that going for me, at least.
I'll try to keep up the pace, though. Thank you again!
8:22 weapon reskins have always been a strange case to me
Dang, all reskins are strange for you? You aughta start selling those, strange reskins are worth a mint.

Really glad theres still some innovating tf2bers left
This is such a thought out proposal of changes to the game, not to mention the fact you went the extra mile or ten to hire artists and designers to make it look as genuine to the in game universe and then present it all in an entertaining video format. It's... Quite beautiful. And genuine.
Good luck, you and the rest of those involved in this project have a good day too.
It means the world to see it all acknowledged like this. This was, by far, the biggest project I've ever done, and I'm so happy with the results. With everyone's results. Thank you for your words, oh great god of thunder.
This is good. I might dare to even call it swagular.
One thing fire-based weapons could do is rather than setting afterburn itself, is that they can extend any afterburn already there, plus maybe giving a few more weapons the ability to apply it consistently.
Hm! That's a fun idea, actually. I'll toss it to the coders, see if it's plausible.
@@PO10TIAL I imagine it ought to be, since that's how the flamethrower's particles work, since the duration depends on the amount of fire particles someone gets hit with.
Great video man. I always enjoyed hearing people talk about specific but important aspects of the game like this.
Leaving this here for the algorythm

In a fire world, people need fire solutions. We just need a fire world.
The vaccinator fire defense is basically a “fuck you pyro” button
As for Batsaber, C.A.P.P.E.R and Shooting Star: give current owners of Unique quality an upgrade to Strange, and owners of Strange to Unusual. Then add unique quality to item drop. Then you can re-arrange the stats for them as separate weapons instead of reskins.
Or upgrade them to vintage, like they used to do back in the olden days
@@HolySnickerPuffs Yes, but I worry that upgrading to Vintage quality might impact the pricing negatively. It's just a different colored frame on the item slot, after all.
Spread this around, folks! Better chance of someone from Valve seeing it.
What you did with the capper is actually something that happened in a game called era warfare, where a reskin got it's stats changed to be a reskin of another weapon
Yeah? I haven't heard about it. What happened?
@@PO10TIAL Era warfare is one of the 3 Roblox versions of TF2, (the others being TC2 and Tetragon fortress) There was a reskin of Soldiers stock melee called the "Comically large spoon" witch had it's stats changed to be that of the market gardener
Great video! Dare I say, it was…fire 🔥
Well done :)
Second of all, this has inspired me to post about an idea I've had for a while, now. I don't have a modeller for this, so unfortunately I can't submit it for the summer update... Oh well! I would be interested to hear your take on it since you have such an apt, design oriented mind. Here it is:
*The Steamy Stoker:*
This weapon is a shoddily cobbled together weapon, consisting of a modified pressure washer affixed with a wide, round shower nozzle, and a small boiler chamber made of glass and metal retaining bands with a red-hot stove element inside. There are a few cracked temperature and pressure guages on the weapon as well as pipes and bolts connecting everything together. A haze of steamy, boiling water is spewed from the nozzle instead of fire, and because it's so damn hot, its damage type *is* still fire.
As for the stats:
+15% damage
This weapon works underwater
Primary fire extinguishes and then soaks both teammates *and* enemies with 0.5 seconds of continuous exposure
Primary fire deals mini-crits against enemies who are still on fire
Primary fire pushes against projectiles
-30% ammo
*No airblast*
*No afterburn*
This weapon allows the Pyro to have multiple new strategies, as well as finally offers a truly damage boosted "flamethrower" to their arsenal.
I can see some Scorch Shot/Gaspasser into w+m1 hell xD
But the strategy I am most excited about is a new mechanic that I think would work amzingly with this concept.
Honestly, it might be doable with the plugin I used, tf2maps.net/downloads/vscript-give_tf_weapon.14897/
I like the fact that it's combo focused, but still gives multiple paths to Get to the combo.
The way you handled the specific cases was also really cool.
incredibly honored to be a part of this :,) shoot for the stars you funky little hair dryer
I'm honored! Here's hoping that I get there, yeah?
I'm glad you clarified that fire and afterburn would be handled separately.
Afterburn is one of my least favorite mechanics in the game, so hearing you suggest that more weapons should do it was horrifying lol
Yeah, I think I honestly should've put that earlier in the video. It feels pretty important.
I'd love to see a playable version of the teu-tonic someday, also exited 2 see more of your ideas as well, if a server ever goes up to test these things I'd jump in immediately if I got the chance to

Honestly now that you pointed it out, the fact that the laser weapons don't do fire damage is insane (I mean cow Mangler I get but otherwise)
All I got to say is:
Based music selection
I try to be based in everything I do.
Cool beans
thhese ideas are phenomenal! the hair trigger is a really cool idea for a weapon, and i do get that the goal was to keep it as close to stock as possible, but i feel that its a bit _too_ similar. weapons with more unique attributes are always nice, and i think i have an idea for how to separate it a bit more, while still keeping it in theme with both the hair trigger and the capper.
what if it had a higher sustained dps than the pistol, through the fire damage and maybe increased damage, so it rewards you for staying on your target for a long time, but to counteract this, it would have an "overheat" meter, and firing the weapon would increase this meter quickly. if the meter reaches the max, it would overheat, damaging and igniting you instead. this would make players think about getting too greedy, and also fits perfectly with the hair trigger being a -colossal fire hazard- perfectly safe hair care tool, and the capper being a high tech alien ray gun probably prone to malfunctioning since the mercs dont use it properly.
another idea i had was to make the ignition stat based on falloff, with it igniting enemies quicker when upclose [because of the huge fire burst], while taking more shots further away. either way, i love these ideas! great video! :>
Thank you! Appreciate both the appreciation and the neat ideas. I'll look into how something like falloff based ignition would get implemented.
The fact I saw an Active Uber in the footage for the massed Pomson test says enough about how useless the Pomson is

Yes.
It took me a minute to get that the rant of fire being a main damage type is not a bit for the beginning, but the actual video.
9:38 pretty sure portal has a line about not rubbing your face on the hard light surfaces cause your face would catch on fire.

HOLY COW (mangler) ITS DONE! I DONT HATE THIS SO MUCH ANYMORE!
Thank you! You hated it? Thank you!
Buff the speed of some of the laser projectiles, too. I want to feel like using the pomson as a psuedo-Rescue Ranger but purely for damage.
Back when the Pomson could pierce, the slow speed really worked in the guns favor. But now that it's one and done? Yeah, it's nothing but bad.
Also, could you make a video on achievement items in general? I feel like a lot of them are underpowered.
I would love to see an update like this but all it takes is time we can’t just have everything we want right now
the thing about fire is that its a gimmick through and through. with other gimmicks, you'd generally be comboing with other players or with a specific loadout (like the famed bushwaka+knife)
fire is essentially weak on its own, and basically requires you to combo with it to do well. this is why flamethrower and flare gun is a great combo, and the scorch shot is broken because it can combo with itself, as well as why the dragons fury is so good, because it can combo with itself and requires aim, so its not a straight upgrade
Glad to be your 1000 subscriber
You gotta fight Da Gaming Burrito for that honor. Glad to have you, though!
@@PO10TIAL Hell yeah

Yeah no, Daisy dopes incredible stuff. Her link's in the description; she's legit the best.
Love the idea of the Hair Trigger. Reminds me of elemental variants from Garden Warfare 2.
I aughta play GW2! I've heard good things.
there is another complication i see:
melee weapon is the unspoken of 4th damage type (melee damage)
so all of the melees like SoaS, batsaber, extinguisher and 3th degree in it's current form can't and should do fire damage (at least directly with the melee attack)
in addition to that, most of the weapons who currently suffer from lack of fire don't suffer from lack of fire damage, but rather lack of the DoT debuff afterburn (as the vast majority of these fire boosted weapons are effected by the debuff itself rather then the damage type, so the axetiguisher, SoaS, the huntsman, Hue long heater, and all the flare guns check for the afterburn debuff to gain the bonus. the only three weapon types who benefit/suffer from this are the spycile (which now can be melted a lot more often via all the laser weapons) the vacinator (which now has to go to the fire damage type for a lot more causes) and the shields (who can actually use their fire resistances a lot more)
another thing is, the shooting star, c.a.p.p.e.r and batsaber are reskins, wouldn't make sense to change their damage type but keep them the exact same (so now we have hitscan fire damages, oof)
and lastly: why do we have to be content with how these weapons are now? many of them should be changed
HLH's ring of fire is one of the worse things heavy has in general as even noob spies can evade it if they know to jump above the wall,
SoaS and man melter still require the after burn to come from other sorces rather then have your own way to light enemies/teammate on fire
the 3th degree is still a complete upgrade in addition to be a useless complete upgrade for some god forsaken reason
fire or bullet damage the pompson and bison remain in the garbage and need a complete rework and buff respectively
but changing the laser weapons to fire damage, yes i agree, make the cow mangler, bison pompson and short circit do fire damage this is a fine change
THE GLORIOUS RETURN!!!
I NEVER LEFT!
I feel the phlog and flairs options can but our either alot of damage that warrants damage resistance or can put out enonugh afterburn to at least anoy people into equipping things that improve effectiveness for it
My opinion may be scued as most of my play time has been pyro, but I've set entire teams on fire with just the detonator alone and or flair punched enough medic to see a switch to the vac itself
There may not be alot of class diversity that deals fire damage, but the class that does do it can be incredibly effective at it
This is mainly an argument for the vaccinator having that damage resistance, but I will say the other classes ability to play off it is incredible dependent on if the pyro is good at spreeding afterburn more then killing, if there is a pyro at all
"Pomson is bad"
*Chimparoncito staring from the back of the room*
Some of the weapons considered "garbage" here are questionable. The Cow Mangler is just stock but with unlimited ammo and less effective against buildings. The Short Circuit easily deleting your biggest counters is good. The Danger Shield almost completely counters scorch shot spam.
Dam this would be really cool to be added i hope it gets added
You and me both, dude
im commenting to boost the algorithm because I would really like this change and I love your editing
I'm replying to boost the algorithm! Thank you!
At 5:09 the Short Circuit is a GREAT weapon, problem is it takes up the same slot as a Wrangler would
Well, half of the Short Circuit is a good weapon.
I like your words, funny number man! Hope to see this happen!
I saw this video after promoting the hair trigger in the workshop lol
Ay, hell yeah! Working in reverse!
I enjoy the mocap
I appreciate that! The TF2 models are a bit unwieldy when they're getting mocapped, but I think it turned out pretty well.
I still remember one specific item in the workshop - Engie secondary that would light people on fire
Yeah, the Texan Heatmaker! Ironically, by ChaoFanatic, who helped make the CAPPER.
WAIT! GLaDOS said that rubbing your face on a hardlight bridge would set your hair on fire
Got it. Fire damage, but only on headshots.
I believe Valve themselves decided that Pyro should be the only one with access to consistent fire damage.
I think the pomson needs fastest projectile speed more than anything and remove the cloak drain for the afterburn, and it'll still counters spy somewhat as well as buff it's mediocre damage in general.
Subbed bcoz of the Route 228 theme. Based.
228 SLAPS, dude

@@PO10TIAL The only problems I have with Dark Cloud is weapon durability draining a bit too fast, the characters not getting enough development like how Max and Monica did, and...........the camera can be a bit annoying.
The positives outweigh it tremendously. The music, the towns, dungeons, stories (especially Queens oof), hell I loved the putting the town back together mechanics part.
@@rockowlgamer631 ... Makin' me wanna replay them, honestly.
*Deep inhale*
And, if you want to make the sun on a stick a fun weapon on top of hitting a ball of fire like the sandman's baseball, make it do afterburn damage and the duration of it based on how far you landed the hit up to a set maximum AND make the melee crits on burning players into mini crits if you add the Hair Trigger pistol as you now have more sources of afterburn damage (make the Hair Trigger ignite after 3 shots so you can ignite up to 3 players if you're accurate enough with that 9 mag capacity).
Truthfully. They're lovely, thematically, but just horrid to try and follow, mechanically.
