There's too much competition when it comes to the 9700x. The prices are still pretty bad for them. A 7700 is around 200usd on AliExpress and runs about as cool as the 9700x.
The 7900x3d will beat the 9700x both in gaming/multicore. The 7800x3d will destroy it in gaming. The 7900x is still way faster in terms of multicore. If you want more performance on the 9700x, you'd turn on pbo and if you want lower power draw, eco mode does the same thing for 7000 series cpus too.
Unless the 7700x/7700 is around the same price as the 9700x, there's really no point in getting it. 9700x is a good value if its around 250usd or less. If not it's definitely not worth it since the 7700 exists.
