    Hi Bob, I've been binge watching your videos and love them - learning a lot of neat stuff that I hadn't thought of. I've been using masking tape on my consoles, and yes, it leaves a residue when you peel it off. What kind of board/console tape do you use (and can I buy it on Amazon? - I'm UK based so US store names aren't much use to me). I also thought about magnetic labels, but a church near me where I sometimes mix uses them, and I also found they move or come off too easily. A long magnetic strip that you could clear and re-mark would probably hold better, but cleaning it would be more effort than tearing off a strip of board tape - so I don't think there are any savings to be made with that idea. Lastly, a quit suggestion for your videos: metric conversions make me giggle. When you approximate an imperial measurement, don't precisely convert to metric - approximate it too. If you're about 35 feet from the stage, you're about 10 or 11 metres from the stage - 10.6m is being a bit too precise. If I say I'm about 10m from the stage, then I then tell you I'm about 32.8 feet from the stage, it sounds silly. Since there are 10 yards in 9 metres, you can approximate the two as equivelant up to about 50 years (at which point you just subtract 5 from the number of metres for every 50 yards - so 250 yards is about 225 metres). Most British people can work in both metric and imperial anyway, and we call quarter inch jacks "quarter inch jacks", because 6.25mm sounds weird.

      Great advice! Thank you for the information on my imperial to metric conversions! You are right. I try to only reference exact measurements, but I do falter when approximating for metric (wasn't sure how to do it). Don't be alarmed... it's possible I have other completed videos (not yet published) that may be referencing metric approximations incorrectly, including approximations for Fahrenheit to Celsius.
      For the board tape, we use Shuretape. Though, if you search Amazon (or the web), you may need to search for the words "console tape". I think Shuretape is available through Amazon. We get our tape locally from a distributor. We use the 3/4" (18mm) width versions for most everything, but it will depend on what your console can accommodate.
      Thanks for your comment.

      @@stageleftaudio just to follow up regarding the board tape, I found this on Amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/ProTapes-840178007322-Artist-Printable-Console/dp/B00DVB307K/ which appears to be the right stuff. It works out at about £15 or $17 per 60yd roll, which seems expensive, and it took 3 weeks to ship to the UK, but goodness me, it's good stuff! It unsticks and resticks like a post-it note. One this that's worth adding is that it seems to be impermeable, so you have to write on it with a Sharpie rather than a Berol fibre tipped pen that is water based (which would be my normal preference).

      Looks like some decent tape! Good tape does make a difference. Thanks for the follow up.

    Very nice! Why dont you use covers for the speakers? It will keep them safe and unscrached..

    • @stageleftaudio
      @stageleftaudio  3 года назад

      Thanks for the comment. Some people like speaker covers, but we do not use them. The added expense for the covers can sometimes be too much... especially if you have a lot of speakers. If our speakers get scraped/scratched, we usually just paint over the affected areas.

      The ramps are: Highland Ramp-arts
      Mic case is by: EWI.
      Sorry, I don't recall the supplier for the cable protectors. I looked at about a dozen suppliers and decided on one of them. However, there are many suppliers for cable protectors; most of the cable protectors are about the same.

      The work lights are Milwaukee. I don't remember the model; check the Milwaukee site for work lights. They can be purchased from Home Depot or other online retailers.

    Only one thing is left out, you hav'nt been showing us more details on how you run your power, from generator to the power distro boxes, and the specification and type of generator you use for gigs

    • @stageleftaudio
      @stageleftaudio  3 года назад

      We hope to show more about how we setup the electrical. Some of our videos reference power, but may not show enough detail. The generators we use for events are arranged with the event organizers. We provide the organizers with the specifications we need, and they procure the generator.

    I absolutely love your videos! Have you looked into the magnetic labels I have a set on my Presonus board and I love how easy it is to move them around

    • @stageleftaudio
      @stageleftaudio  3 года назад

      Thanks for your comment! Yes, I tried magnetic labels several years ago, but they actually moved around too much! I think they would be great for some setups and usage, but they weren't right for us. However, if they have improved over the years, I would consider them again.

    Is there any reason use seprate eq, like dbz 1231 with digital mixing console? Or are Presonus eq enough?

    • @stageleftaudio
      @stageleftaudio  3 года назад +2

      Some people will use an outboard EQ. Most use them for the speed of making EQ adjustments. However, using analog outboard gear with digital gear will introduce additional latency to the signal flow due to the D/A converters (sending data out of the console to the EQ) and the A/D converters (receiving analog data from the EQ back into the digital console). The Presonus EQ's are good (especially the Series 3 consoles).

    • @Mersuharrastaja
      @Mersuharrastaja 3 года назад +1

      @@stageleftaudio Ok, I usually use eq between console and amplifier/powered speaker, not insert. I just buy one dbx and thinking, that do i make unnecessarily buy, because I someday buy digital mixing console. first I use it with analog console.
