Hey everyone! i have been sick for a little while, but im feeling better and working on some new videos for you all! How have you been? whats been new in the last few weeks?
The author really managed to give me that horrifying sinking feeling when you realize his grandmother was already dead and he took care of her rotting body. Amazing story and amazing narration as always. This was one of my absolute favorites!
@@madelinewhite813 I think she died that night he was in his room gaming and she got attacked by the dark entity. Because the morning after he couldn't wake her up at first and her diaper was insanely full (like when a body dies it releases everything) and after that she couldn't eat, drink or help moving when he dressed her. It was an incredibly unsettling way to hint at that
This story really pulled me in. I think Evelyn passed the night she woke up at midnight and he couldn’t wake her up the following morning. And sadly yes, very relatable. I understand Evelyn wanting to choose where she died. I understand the despair that swallows Tommy. This story conjures a deep, twisted, and beautiful sorrow. I feel like I would have figwir out a bit later, but having read this before that nwin the story did help me think about what could be signs of death in how they went on. Like the extra excrement (because bodies relax all their muscles, so it's not uncommon for people who just died to shit and piss themselves) or the fact that she can't raise her arm. He is literally taking care of a corpse.
Halfway through this story all I could think about is how horrible of a Grandmother she was. Because of her fear she crippled her grandson socially and mentally which led to the way this story played out 😢
I think the point of the story is that Granny and Grandson were both just victims of life circumstance and the inherent indifference of death and truama, and were doing the best with what they had. People always want stories to have a villain or "bad guy" to blame EVERYTHING on but the fact is, life is much more complicated than that. And it's easy to judge when you're an outsider looking in, safe from the same unfair circumstances that turn people "horrible".
@@BOFAMETsounds like you're trying to justify her horrible actions. People are complicated. But what's unforgivable about her is that she had her moment of clarity. She realized how she had failed her grandson so spectacularly. And instead of changing her ways last-minute, and having a heart-to-heart with him about how he's going to have to grow up without her, she sends him to his grave. Over her own vanity. She didn't ask for the gun or for medically assisted suicide, she sent him armed against the police. That is unforgivable. He on the other hand, the man who attempted murder against officers of the law, is much more understandable as a victim. And ultimately, is forgivable.
@@Mygg_Jeager I think you might want to listen to the story again my dude lol, you seem to have missed a crucial factor in "granny" supposedly sending her grandson to his death. Even still, not wanting to die in a facility as an old person isn't "vanity" exactly. It's more about being literally at the end of your life and wanting to pass on surrounded by a familiar environment and people you're comfortable with. This generation's media literacy is astounding pfff
This is by far the best horror story I've ever read, they (the writer) somehow managed to depict death as disgusting, beautiful, scary, peaceful, and all other contradicting words in this cohesive narrative. Especially with the denial of death, I caught on almost immediately that Tommy was caring for his grandmother's corpse, and the portrayal of the delusion was done perfectly without being too obvious or sudden. Evelyn's care is all too familiar to me, as a child my mother had to help my great-grandfather during the final years of his life after a long battle against Alzheimer's disease. I dont remember much as that period of my life was one of the hardest, but this story perfectly encapsulates the feeling of helplessness, anger, sadness, and loneliness when watching a loved one slowly pass away.
Wow, that is so sad. His selfish grandmother failed Tommy so badly. And the fact that his hallucination of her treated him so badly shows how awful of a mother figure she was to him in life.
Wait, what? His hallucination of her? When did he hallucinate her? Did I just completely miss that part? Lol EDIT: nvm I just listened to his theory at the very end about her being dead.
@@GlitterGumI was about to skip that part, but I was thinking that when he shook her and her neck was loose that was her end. Listening to Ronnie’s theory now thx
I took care of my aging mother before she died at 91. WOWSERS the description of Tommy taking care of his grandmother is pretty accurate. WHEW what a creepy story!
@@Mafyeuxbruh stfu. standing up to an idiot troll is leagues above putting someone down OR putting someone down FOR standing up to the idiot troll. you added nothing of substance either. projection.
This story was brilliant. You are 100 percent correct with your theory. That particularly bad accident she had, the bowels releasing everything after death. Then she couldn’t move her arms anymore, rigor mortis setting in making it harder to pour water and food into the mouth. Then she got “better”, the stiffness dispersing. The cherry on top was her favorite thing to watch, Hitchcock. The main character was essentially pulling a Norman Bates
I think when she started eating and drinking again and getting better, after Tommy briefly sees a corpse staring at the cieling, that's when he fully switches to the illusion and delusion.
I think this is probably one of the best horror pieces I've ever heard. It being so firmly planted in reality hits really different. My dad took care of my bio mom for a couple years while she slowly lost her battle to cancer. So while I can't relate directly, I did have to watch it as a small child. A truly painful and tragic thing, watching someone you love so deeply just waste away. And I don't know how to describe, but the way you narrate really captures the feeling of dispair. Feels so weird to sit and praise a piece that has me feeling all kinds of uncomfortable and sad lol. Well done, you really know what stories to pick and and how to really make them cone to life.
This was an amazing story. I think the author managed not only to write an amazing creepypasta, but also to capture the struggle and stress of caring for someone, having them completely depend on you and the horror of seeing a loved one slowly withering away. P.S. Glad you're feeling a bit better!
Not to mention the codependency of Tommy's total dependence on his gma as well, providing for all his financial as well as emotional needs. Altogether, it's quite sad. The author did an excellent job creating sympathy & making both characters relatable.
Nothing really sad about it if you look at it logically. That's just life. Some people get dealt difficult cards. Play em and don't show any weakness, and don't be a neckbeard like Tommy.
This was an interesting story with many relatable aspects. My husband and I took care of his mother. Watching her decline was heartbreaking and a reminder of what may await us.
@@CreepyCat. doesnt need to be, if we stop seeing death as inevitable and instead as a disease to cure we can prevent this pain from ever needing to be a thing.
@@CreepyCat. I should have said "If we are 'lucky' enough to grow old." I put quotes around lucky because unless I can maintain good health, I don't necessarily want to live to an old age. Becoming elderly, having health problems, & not being able to take care of myself would be worse than death. Does that make sense?
your narrations, sound design, and music are wonderful, as always. thank you for all that you do. your videos keep me sane during the 9 to 5. wishing you continued success and growth
Awesome story. The way it was written was crazy. I was def on the fence about her already being dead but the little clues were just put perfectly to keep you wondering
I sometimes wonder if you've acknowledged the fact that you're the best story teller we've ever tuned in for. The combination of your almost monotone voice and depth of horrifying stories creates such incredible content that always makes me come back to get my fix. Without a doubt, you're the best at this.
I've been going through your videos from oldest to newest and watch one every night after work, thank you for what would be 100's of dollars of entertainment for free! this is honestly professional audiobook levels of narration and I hope your able to make a good deserved living off of this.

Dude! You're killing it with all these new stories! You see the subscriber base growing?! I've been a fan for years and I'll still say that you're my favorite narrator. Much love ❤️
Great story and relatable. Took care of mom for a while until Dementia made it impossible. I will miss your stories since I am quite lonely of late. The emotion and visionary storytelling always grips me in ways that keep me glued to your voice. Thank you.
This brought so many flashbacks to me. I was the main caretaker for my great grandma, my parents and grandma doing their share when they could. The author really perfectly pictured the struggles we went through. The changing, the routines, the struggle to keep our loved one clean, the fear of watching them slowly decline and revert to what I can only equal to a talking infant. Only able to talk and maybe move their hands somewhat but rather helpless in any other aspect. And the codependency between the two... It's something I've witnessed so many times...
Damn I was really rooting for Tommy to heal emotionally and carry on, i didn't see it coming when he died as well. Poor guy was the grandson version of Norman Bates
I agree with your thought process. That's how I took the story too. She was alive during the first half of the story but, he kept her alive in his mind after she died cause he couldn't let go of her. When you live with and take of someone for so long and they become the world to you you pick up on all of their habits, mannerisms, speech, and other quirks that when you suffer a loss that great sometimes it can break people to the point that they become delusional and carry on as if nothing has changed. It's sad and scary at the same time.
This one was sad. Makes me miss my grandma. The worst part is that she's still alive, she just can't speak or move so I have no idea if she even knows I'm there when I visit. Makes going there hard. Anyways I'm rambling, great narration as always, take care ♡♡
Thank you so much for consistently uploading longer stories! I find it so difficult to get into 20 minute stories these days because I need something for my mind to focus on for longer than that, or I'll go crazy.
The nod to HItchcock in the story confirms she died early on for me. I think the "extra bad mess" was a post mortem evacuation or whatever it's called. Not sure why Death hung around so long unless he just has clairvoyance and didn't see a reason to leave and come right back. Regardless, one of the better stories I've heard here lately. A nice change of pace from what often is here, not that the usual is bad or anything.
This was an excellent story; held my interest all the way through. And yes, I definitely got the impression that Grandma died long before the end of the story.
Talk about well written, superbly narrated, and timely. I REALLY needed to hear this and right now. I dunno how you manage to do it, Somnium, but your narrations and story choices manage to be what I need to hear and when I need to hear it. They always ring a bell for me, in some way. Which is a tribute not only to your excellent narrations but your sensibility in choosing stories to tell that effect you, and draw out real feelings that cannot be faked no matter how good the narrator. It always FEELS as if you put yourself into your narrations just enough to breathe unique life into them, without altering the author's intentions or vision. So, in short, you are magical. Keep spreading that magic hither and yon on these Internet streets. Labors of love, skill, and talent like your work are all-too-rare to find. Even on a planet with billions of sentient people. Thank you for your spectacular work and dedication

And im sure you could guess why... Now i just want to say, thank you... Thank you for the countless hours of entertainment, and also the needed release and relief
Yes, Dark S, I agree she had already passed away, and yes your right about it being relatable- it definitely hit close to home for me! And it took some tears from me! Thanx for the great narration! I'm a big fan!
Saddest horror story I've heard in a while. But I actually leap frogged between the grandma being alive or dead the whole time up til the end. I re-listened to it, and it is very obvious when Tommy tries to change her a second time and Evelyn can't lift her arm for him. Clearly he is trying to care for a corpse, of course Evelyn can't move.
Yes- I think she passed that morning he couldn’t wake her up. Everything seemed to go downhill from there. It’s so sad- because I know real people experience versions of this everyday.
I really enjoyed this story. Thanks for picking this one. A good emotional and detailed description of the process of dying in this one. Also the denial Tommy is facing here is very human. Well written and of course can't go wrong with your narration. Great job!
I've seen my fair share of Criminal Minds to know where this was going the second he noticed "the mess was bigger than usual". Gammy died when death cloaked her in darkness, and Tommy was too desperate to keep her with him that his mind was unwanting to let him see the reality of her being gone. Weaving a twisted reality where it was, as it always had felt like it, them vs. the rest.
Been listening for years now, just wanted to say thank you for doing what you do. I’ve especially been liking the ones where you incorporate other creepy pasta RUclipsrs as characters. It helps to differentiate the characters and keep track of the plot. Keep up the good work and remember that you are deeply appreciated.
I was going too say I feel like the grandmother had been dead already, probably since his waking dream, with a really bad diaper, and the day she didn’t eat or drink. Extremely real story, I’d say most of us could picture ourselves in this story. Amazing job
That’s actually what I thought at first, when you die all of your bodily fluids release. I was really surprised when she woke up but it looks like she didn’t. Honestly I could see grief getting you to genuinely think someone is still there, I convinced myself reincarnation is real and I have my cat back.
Ronnie my man, you've gone and done it again! I absolutely love stories, and this here is one of the best ones ive heard, its filled with dread and despair in a very raw way. Also, im really glad to see you've recovered from your ilness! Keep winning man
This is one of those stories that genuinely made me feel dread and despair, perhaps because of how relatable it is to aspects of my own family. The way you two represented the characters was perfect. SpiritVoices did an amazing job showing the frailty of the grandmother, and you did just as good of a job showing the uncertainty and dependence of the grandson. Another amazing video, as always!
The ending was mind blowing when you actually realize what had happened. I want to listen to it over again with all the new information I have and see if I can spot any new details that give it away that she was actually gone halfway through. But that being said, it's so sad how Tommy had to grow up, she sabatoged his whole life.

What an incredible story, and a beautiful adaption to boot. The descriptions in this were so vivid and real, as someone who took care of both my grandparents during their last days with dementia. Thank you for the work that you do, and we're all glad you've recovered
Dude don’t apologize I am actually so happy you got a break you’ve been doing INSANE work and it’s always top quality too. You really are THE English reading RUclips channel and I’m yet to find a Chanel that comes close to your quality. TAKE BREAKS!! As for the story, I for some reason love the trope of someone dying and OP not acknowledging it to a point of becoming deluded, it’s scratches my brain. I think she definitely died during the night where she described being consumed by a void, the massive amount of feces (which usually happens shortly after death because of reflexes shutting off), the sudden change in tone, the lack of food or WATER and most importantly, this being the last moment in the story which we get from her POV are such big indicators. I think it’s so interesting how seemingly the hallucination of his grandmother were harsh and cold in the beginning but increasingly overly sweet and ego stroking. I think the delusions came from a place of defence where his mind didn’t want to acknowledge she died and more so all alone when he promised to be by her side, and schizophrenic hallucinations were easier to process. That line about him seeing her corpse for a split second despite hearing her voice UGH that was SO good, I was sure that’d be his breaking point where he realizes what’s actually happening but it just kept going! I am kind of wondering about the description of death in this and if it’s real seeing as they both experienced it and in that case why death was after him. Either way this was SUCH a good story and you guys killed it as always ❤️❤️❤️

Definitely something I think about a lot too. It'll be hard but we must move on. Grief can make us stagnant in life, its important to remember and love, but also to move on with our own lives. We cannot become shrines of those we have lost.
I agree with your take on the story. I have been a geriatric, psych and wound nurse for 30 years and this story hits close to home. Something else I take from the story is how some children seem to stay in denial when their parents or grandparents are at the.end.of their lives. I have also seen children that have been manipulated by their parents into taking care of them when it is clear that a nursing home would be the best option. Then there are the parents that are dropped off at the facility and never have a visitor. I have to admit I started crying when she started giving him extra deserts and stopped reminding him to shower.
This reminded me of Mariah on the moon, just more sad and depressing lol. I never really considered the idea that the grandma was dead but your theory makes a lot of sense and makes the story far more interesting. Great narration as always!

This story is what we in the manga reading commu like to call misery-p*rn. Good story, very realistic take on the care of aging people and the narration was top tier like always. 👏
This one really hit home for me. My older sister and I stayed with our grandmother while she was on hospice care back in 2016. One of the hardest things ive ever had to do. And i dont know how my sister managed to do it cause that was only about 2 years after she had done the same thing for her mother in law. I cooked the last meal my grandmother ate before she passed. And some people might take comfort in that thought with their loved ones, for me I wish i couldve made her something special instead of hamburger helper. I completely agree with your theory though. As soon as Jason came to their door and the story mentioned the horrible smell I was like yeah shes gotta be dead. I thought maybe she was dead the entire time at first but idk i think youre right about her dying part way through the story. Cause as the story progressed his grandmother would call him a “good boy” and give him more admiration. Which is the one thing that he seemingly thrived on. Once i came to the conclusion that she was dead thats when the little “hitchcock” reference clicked for me. Im still not sure when she died for sure but my guess is that she either died during the night when she woke up and Tommy wasnt there OR Tommy accidentally killed her when he fired his gun 3 times. Even if he didnt kill her at that point i believe she was definitely dead. Besides the fact that he shot his own foot i think when he went to change evelyn after he bandaged his foot up, he struggled so much because she was dead. He couldnt lift her out of the bed so easily because of her dead weight and/or possibly rigor-mortis may have already set in at that point which would make changing her/lifting her/etc. extremely tiring and difficult for anyone let alone someone with a bullet wound in their foot.
I think the night she woke up at midnight- because he couldn’t wake her up the following morning. Which would mean she died alone. The one thing neither of them wanted.
@@youwatch2muchtv Yes- agree with that too. And the mentions of how nothing would ever make her smell better. I was wondering how she could be alive at that point.

@@Spooky_Platypuswait I’m confused, maybe it’s because I’m tired but can you explain why that comment was wrong
Wait, was Hitchcock a reference? What was the reference? I heard he was a good film maker but I don't know much about him or his films
There is a difference between reading a story and bringing a story to life, you my friend have a good talent of making the story come to life.
Well done, you really know what stories to pick and and how to really make them cone to life.
you’re a kind soul for donating
Was starting to think this story wasn't going to get scary, but then you brought in the HOA and I jumped out of my skin
Yeah those HOAs are scary!

She was alive during the first half of the story but, he kept her alive in his mind after she died cause
he couldn't let go of her. When you live with and take of someone for so long and they become the world to you you pick up on all of their habits, mannerisms, speech,
and other quirks that when you suffer a loss that great sometimes it can break people to the point that they become delusional and carry on as if nothing has changed.
20 minutes just isn’t enough to get into anything. Unless it’s a true banger, but that’s rare.
“Don’t let me be a bother” - the grandma who literally prevented anyone from loving him. Lol
A nice change of pace from what often is here, not that the usual is bad or anything.
i love how well you play the characters. The emotion you play is how i would imagine it, it gives me chills

This story had me from the start. I kinda suspected that she did die about halfway myself and I needed to see the conclusion. It was an awesome story.
Yes- I think she passed that morning he couldn’t wake her up. Everything seemed to go downhill from there. It’s so sad- because I know real people experience versions of this everyday.
@@yesterdayitrainedyup, when he noticed she had so much more feces to where it was even leaking out. That was when she had been dead.
Weaving a twisted reality where it was, as it always had felt like it, them vs. the rest.
This is beautifully written and intriguing. Great choice as usual, Ronnie ❤

I feel like this was one of the scarier stories you've read. And it has almost no paranormal activity.
The ending was mind blowing when you actually realize what had happened. I want to listen to it over again with all the new information I have and see if I can spot any new details that give it away that she was actually gone halfway through. But that being said, it's so sad how Tommy had to grow up, she sabatoged his whole life.

Acceptance, and saying "it is what it is" is the best way to deal with difficult situations. Anything that does not produce results is weakness.
Definitely something I think about a lot too. It'll be hard but we must move on. Grief can make us stagnant in life, its important to remember and love, but also to move on with our own lives. We cannot become shrines of those we have lost.

Your back! Congrats!
yep! more videos on the way!

A "Do not go gentle into that good night" reference in the first minute of the video? Hell yeah.
This story is what we in the manga reading commu like to call misery-p*rn. Good story, very realistic take on the care of aging people and the narration was top tier like always. 👏
Completely agree with your interpretation. Thanks for another captivating story.
When he noticed she had more feces than usual to where it was leaking onto the floor, that was when she was dead.
@@youwatch2muchtv Yes- agree with that too. And the mentions of how nothing would ever make her smell better. I was wondering how she could be alive at that point.
