- The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will be the largest institution in the United States devoted to the arts, sciences, and artists of moviemaking. Global in outlook and grounded in the unparalleled collections and expertise of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy Museum will offer exceptional exhibitions and programs that illuminate the world of cinema. They will be immersive and dynamic and will tell the many stories of the movies-their art, technology, artists, history, and social impact-through a variety of diverse and engaging voices. The Academy Museum will tell complete stories of moviemaking-celebratory, educational, and sometimes critical or uncomfortable.

My sister Shraddah designed the displays used throughout the museum. So incredibly proud of her
It’s very nice! I wish one day I will visit this museum 🙂
That explains why the museum is so lacking in detail. I suggest you read the comments on Tripadvisor.
I love it 😻
I am going there in June with City of Carson !… I can hardly wait!
Beautiful
I worked in that building 2007 during the earthquake ...in accounting. So happy to see it reborn. I studied COSTUME at RISD & CAL ARTS...paid for college thru finance. Both brought me to LACMA. Retired now in Vegas. " life is like a box of chocolates...."
I love it!!
Shocking that LA has never had a film museum before this. This will be hugely successful, but it’s likely too small to accomodate the millions of tourists that will flock to this. At least there’s LACMA next door if the lines are too long. People come to LA to see movie history and are disappointed when they realize there’s isn’t really any place in LA to full experience it (Universal Studios?). Finally the city has something.
The city has had the wildly successful studio tours (Warner Bros, Paramount, Universal, etc), but I agree with the larger point - there needs to be many places in LA to celebrate cinema. With this and the upcoming Lucas Museum we'll have two new world class ones.
LACMA is in the midst of a complete redesign, and will likely be offline for the next two years or so except for a few limited spaces.
Just went and they still required bookings in advance, so looks like you were right.
Forget universal Studios. Warner Brothers offer the best tours to learn about movies. The Academy Museum has too many gaps and doesn't tell the full story. I found it very disappointing and sadly lacking in depth and detail.
Gracias
Who is doing the voice over on this?
Anthony Hopkins?
Alfred Molina
Im a long time fan of watching the Oscars. However, if Will Smith’s Oscar is not taken back, i will never be watching them again. Where is your security at one of these events? It was non existent that night. Will Smith should’ve been arrested for assault on the spot. At the very least escorted out of the audience. The fact that he wasn’t is why the public has lost all respect for this once proud and prestigious event.
the academy of motion picture arts and sciences = actors slapping actors and yelling the F Word before winning awards
This video taught me that there have been no white men involved in building the entertainment industry. I'm sure the museum will be equally attentive to accuracy.
Removing an Editing and Score Oscar is the best thing Hollywood has done for the industry. They are useless.
You failed to protect your host😡 that’s disappointing
failure
Too bad the Academy DIDN'T INCLUDE MUSIC FROM THE MOVIES ! MUSIC SCORES FOR EVERY FILM ! HELLO ? REMEMBER MOVIE MUSICALS ? HOW DUMB CAN YOU PEOPLE BE ? WHAT A DISGRACE ! NO MEMBERSHIP FOR ME !!!!!!!!
That's why they have the theatre.
