Hi. Another great video. I love how you are so interested in always learning new aspects of aviation-planes, Pilots,destinations... as a student pilot I really appreciate you enthusiasm. I always learn many new things watching. Thanks for posting.
PC-12 ...Chosen by the Royal Australian Flying Doctor Service as the best single engine turbine sub ten seater on the market regardless of price. An awesome, fast, rugged, safe aircraft. Its so stable you can trim it and with the auto pilot turned off you can move around the cockpit and it sits still like a concrete cricket pitch.
I love the PC-12 more than the TBM since it can land in unprepared surfaces and better payload and roomier. Slower and more expensive but a wider range of capabilities. Thanks for this episode.
Interesting and enjoyable flight. But, if you permit a suggestion from and old aviator that learned from even older ones: a good measure to maintain cockpit organization is write down METARs and ATIS at HORIZONTAL, and take note of clearances at VERTICAL. It may sound foolish but provides an enormous support to the cockpit crew in terms of standardization (everybody can read somebody else's notes) and organization. Moreover, piece of paper and a pencil can be anachronistic and old-fashioned, but they are efficient and infallible, especially when the good old electrical energy of the batteries runs out... simply can´t rely on a tablet or a smartphone for simple (and vital) tasks as take notes without redundancy. My two cents...
@@FlightChops I just want to thank you for this video. None of the other videos I have seen show anyone using checklists (SteveoKinevo, Guthmiller et al.). Every instructor I've ever had did not consider checklists an option. And radio calls were perfect. Clear, no jargon - excellent. I watch these kinds of videos to practice radio communications which is my weak spot. So great to hear pilots say, for example, "squawking ident" instead of "here comes your flash". Thanks again.
Love the PC-12 of all the single engine turbos. As you stated, the TBM-850 by Socata is the race horse of single engine turbos but as far as passenger comfort ,range ,fuel burn and ease of flying, I would love to have a PC-12!
Was really great to hear you reminisce about the beginning of your channel. I found you when I was beginning to get serious about a career in flying and just before your Patreon project. Just did my first real world aviation job interview for a small regional charter and here you are getting the rockstar treatment you deserve. It's been quite a ride so far, eh? Cheers to keeping our FlightChops sharp!
It’s a cool little detail that every time I’ve seen you pick up your DSLR and point it at something, 1 second later, I’m seeing its view. A little thing but I think it’s significant and it takes effort during editing, to align those moments.
I have so much respect for pilots, with all their knowledge of their aircrafts and instruments, and being able to make the right decisions in real time.
I used to work for an FBO at KBDR and we used to have PlaneSense's PC-12s come in all the time. They are the largest operator of the type in the world. I always loved watching them come in and land super slow, that and their paint job was a very awesome blue and white, and their pilots were all pretty friendly and treated myself and my line crew as people and not just line guys to be bossed around like some of the other companies pilots would.
I was just at BKL last week. I convinced my captain to stay the night there. He had no clue it even existed, he was sold. I love Burke County and the PC12 is my favorite aircraft, great vid! Working the ramp at ARB we get a PC12 or two or 5 everyday.
When I’m training with my instructor in a red bird full motion sim we often fly KCLE-KBKL for practice with patterns and takeoffs and landings. It’s kinda fun to fly multiple very short flights
Haven't been PIC in quite a while... This video brings back memories. I placed Sporty's posters of C172, and others, in actual picture frames circa 1994 at home. Much money has been transferred from my account to Sporty's back then... My dream plane is the PC-12. Great job on the video, FCs
WOWZERS _ what a trip! I would LOVE to get a flight in a PC-12... My Skylane uses the Foreflight to get me there, but not at those speeds and altitudes...
Watching him manipulate the controls on that landing was awesome. He was clearly fighting the crosswind a little, but the movements were so controlled and small. Awesome video.
Steve, that's awesome. I did most of my initial pilot training at Sportys. They've got quite the program going there. On a good flying day it was not uncommon for their to be 5 or 6 planes all circling around in the pattern. The radio calls were interesting, although my favorite was one day were at the end of 04 waiting for another plane to clear the runway. He calls "Clemont County Traffic Advisory, there is a cat on the runway." and without hesitation another pilot gets on the radio and says "Meow!". LOL.
I’ve been lucky enough to log about 300 hours in the PC-12. My work (and life) revolves around the PC-12. What an airplane. Loved the video, and enjoy your channel. Happy flying!
We were just in Toronto earlier in June, saw Billy Bishop from CN Tower. Wanted to take the sightseeing flight on FlyGTA, but it didn't work out. Great videos! New to Flight Chops. Last flew in 1981, never licensed, got my medical and ready to resume instruction at 59!
Wish I knew you were coming! I'm doing PPL training out of Sporty's and get to see that view after every training flight walking back into the FBO. My instructor actually flies that airplane!
Once of these landed at the airport if fly out from (Brampton/Caledon) last Saturday. Took up half the run up pad, I didn’t mind waiting since I was listening to it’s turbine run up :) What an awesome machine, and nice flight deck.
When arriving in Romania from Reykjavik over Timisoara continue to Bucharest non stop turn around West to Timisoara and land with over 1 hour reserve from Iceland in Timisoara my home CITY
When I was a student pilot/private pilot in 1973 flying out of Louisville, I flew up to Sporty's to check it out in a C-150. Sporty's wasn't as big a deal back then as it is now. But it was pretty cool anyway. I couldn't afford much there, I was still in high school.
I have flown in and out of Batavia, Clermont County (Sporty's) many times. Nice little airport. First and only time I tail looped in a J3 at that airport. LOL
Great to see & hear John Zimmerman, who I only know virtually from Air Facts Journal!!! That PC12 is a lovely machine. The TBM is gorgeous but I always though the PC12 is the one for traveling with friends. Definitely one for the Lottery Hangar.
I was lucky enough to work for a company that flew us around in a PC-12/47. They are amazing aircraft. Kind of jealous of your right seat ride my friend.
Man I just love your content, as a pilot I learn a lot from these vids just seeing how pilots fly corporate planes, really professional, differs a lot from the hometown airport pilots (which shoundt, but it is what it is)Love the vids man, keep it up!
It's really cool to see an approach I've flown on a video! coming in to 6L at BKL is one of my favorite views I've had since picking up flying last year. There's plenty of cool stuff to see in Cleveland, if you're ever on the ground here for more than a bit!
Just accidentally ran across this vid, decided to go along for a ride. Wow things sure have changed since the 80’s. My dad was a private pilot for 35+ years. Everything back then was as I hear you guys refer to as Steam Gauges. Lol. Miss being able to get airborne. 😎
There's a PC-12 that goes right over my house a few times a week. I've been watching it for years. They have a distinctive look from below - a wide, dead-straight wingspan with no sweep aft whatsoever, and narrow wings. As a non-aviator (at the moment), that, and the TBM-850 are my favorites. If I ever hit the lottery, I'd be on the path to getting my license tomorrow, and I'd have one of those planes in my fleet ... in addition to a Premier 1. 😁 Ahh, it's nice to dream! Great video, as usual! Thanks for bringing us along on your epic adventures! It's fun not knowing where you're going to end up next, AND what you'll be flying in. Plus, I ALWAYS learn something in each video! 😎
Smitty Smithsonite I have about the same set of dreams, but I'm thinking if I'd switch the Premier for a Phenom 300... I'm also a bit bugged by the PC-12 and the TBM being singles, which isn't optimal if I want to fly a lot around the Mediterranean (I live in Germany) which has lots of flying over water...
I have watched this video several times and enjoyed it each time. It is very informative, professionally done. I felt included in the flight. Two thumbs up. I will say however, I agree with Mola ..... batteries for a pencil never give out. I always write clearances and ATIS down.
Great video, thanks for sharing. I'm currently looking at a gig flying Pilatus so I appreciate y'all running checklists out loud while pointing out the relevant stuff in the cockpit. I also like how you demonstrate the connections between the laptop and the aircraft software, I learned to fly in the '80s so that digital stuff is still kinda sci-fi.
Hi, I just wanted to say that your videos had been a huge inspiration to me to pursue aviation and over the past few years I’ve enjoyed your videos so much. Your channel pushed me to join in the aviation community and on June 14th I actually got my private pilot certificate and plan on starting my IFR training soon. Thanks for the videos and the love of aviation.
Nice... a flight between two of my favorite airports. I used to do CYTZ to Burke Lakefront when taking friends out for a weekend getaway to the RnR Hall of Fame.
I love the PC12, I think the range of Pilatus look to be superb aircraft. That one was fitted out really nicely a great all rounder. Watching the way those larger complex types are flown always fascinates me. - and how true, no one can ever know it all, we are all ignorant to something. I was watching out for UFO's on lake Erie......a predetermined en-route hazard?! LOL! Thanks for posting this video - keep up the good work!
Awesome views over the city on departure, perfect. Point on flow scan, we use a Flow Scan at our club, so easy to remember all the little stuff before pulling out the checklist for Runups etc. Thanks for another great video :)
Right?! Hey man - what say you make a trip to Windsor one of these days to fly some warbirds with us? Let's talk about how that could work. I am going to be there Several weekends this summer... Maybe make a date night weekend out of it for you and your lady?
Great video. Joined your channel just recently and watched so many great videos. I'm inspired to get back into flying after a 15 year lay-off due to family and work. Got my PPL & Multi endorsement back in 2002. Thanks to you and TFP I'm going to get back in the seat!
Cessna 172 lite. Cool idea. I looked for a video on youtube about it but nothing....could you do a quick video? Pc-12 family trickster is one of my dream planes but the lite 172 is more likely.
Man I wanted to see a pilatus pc12 in such detailed video since a long time.Thank you so much Steve! Amazing video as always..keep your flight chops sharp! Cheers!
I went to Toronto back in 1999, I had no idea there was an airport there until I went up in the CN Tower. The funny thing is that there were no takeoffs or landings for the whole 30 minutes or so I was in the tower. I was very disappointed.
Interesting to see the complexities of flying a technical aircraft in metropolitan areas. I see why Trent Palmer likes his Kit Fox and the back country; freedom.
Great video! We are based in the Cleveland area and fly out of Burke all the time. Let us know next time you're flying in, we'd love to take you on one of our flying adventures!
Nice vid! tI seems like that first video was yesterday! I've seen warbirds, twins, turboprops, and jets on FlightChops channel. May I offer some suggestions for future topics: - Northern Territories - Eastern Canada (Halifax/NB/Nova Scotia) - STARS/Medi-Flight Thanks and Keep 'm coming! --SafeFlight
So I've followed your videos for a good while. Impressed with your progress. The question I have is, how has it been so easy for you to receive all these opportunities to fly such variety of aircraft?
Thanks! I am definitely “living the dream” - But to be clear - there is nothing easy about it. I decided to build a channel in mid 2013, came up with a unique angle to explore, and attacked it with tenacity and consistency - I have not missed publishing an episode every second Friday for over 5 years (there are now nearly 150). The initial episodes were no/low budget, and they slowly got better as the traction built and the revenue started to come in from various sources.
@@FlightChops I appreciate your honesty and vigilance to your love of flying. I too am a IFR rated pilot. I started when I was around 13. No-one in my family was a pilot so I had to do everything myself, save money and make it happen. I'm now 40 and part own a 172. Tenacity is the key. I didn't go to bars or drink because I figured it's not healthy and that one drink is 15 minutes in the air. Lol. I do wish I boarded the RUclips WAGON but I was a late bloomer to the internet. Never really knew what it was all about. Keep up your work and I do enjoy the angle to take with flying. Some pilots scare me. Their attitude is wrong and dangerous. You are an exception. I'd fly with you any day. Right now I live I the coast in WA state USA. My bucket list is to fly in Canada some day. Been there many times but not in a GA plane. Thanks again.
Yeah - it is super frustrating that RUclips does not consistently send out publish notifications to subscribers. You need to be subscribed, have clicked the bell (which they added beside the subscribe button last year) AND open up the sub menu on the bell to ask it to "notify every time". It is too complicated to try and explain all that with in the videos.
i know this is video is 2 years old but i kinda want to see you fly in the pilatus PC 24 the first pilatus business jet. there able to land on grass and gravel fields to what i know about them that make in interesting video.
JP nice to see you again after I followed your around the world Wish I was your age to share great world travel.I made my flight plan in a MOONEY OVATION 3 with Monroy long range thanks good for 2,400 NM. @ 173 knots ,long range cruise. Lansing Illinois Airport to Bangor -Reykjavik Iceland straight to Timisoara Romania. 3 legs
Great video as always. My mind was speaking to me as I was watching you travel to Sporty's, Wow! what a great experience and all in all the amazing things you have gotten to do are so Majestic to an aviator. You are a lucky guy. Then I said, well that is all due to your hard work congratulations to all that has come your way. And Thank you for sharing it.
It's not the shortest ferry crossing in the world. The Woolwich Free Ferry in Woolwich, London is much shorter than that. Just a couple of hundred yards. (5 Minutes)

After the PC-24, this aeroplane is together with the PC-6 the best example of fine Swiss engineering!

I agree!
Me too, where is his pencil and peace of paper? ... unbelievable
What do you mean by this? Ie at horizontal and at vertical?
Thanks
The Pilatus PC-12 is the best. 👌
9 seats as well. You already know someone’s had a sky rave in it at some point 😂
This is terrific - a super-competent pilot using checklists and calling each item out. I love it.
Agreed - John is awesome!

My all-time favorite single-engine airplane.... Thank you for another wonderful video Steve. I envy what you are able to do day in and day out.
One day I will buy one of these

Ahhh BKL! I always used to fly up there from Columbus for night cross countries with my students. What a great airfield and great airplane.

Took my discovery flight at Burke! Returned back about a year later on a solo cross country during my IFR training. Awesome full circle experience.

Cleveland’s Burke is a wonderful lakefront airport unlike the sad demise of Meigs Field in Chicago.

Anyone else rewatching this now the SWS PC-12 is out for MSFS? Interesting to see the different cockpit layout.
An Air Force pilot in Vietnam, my love of flying grows! thanks for a great video!
I remember going to Sporty's from Louisville, KY in a C-150 as a newly minted private pilot with a friend in 1973

The PC-12 is one of my favorite turboprops, alongside the TBM-850 of course.
Get a load of that view on takeoff flying past that needle tower. Just beautiful and what a gorgeous day...no clouds. Perfect.

My dad flew for the RFDS in Australia for 8 years 3 in the pc-12 5 in the NG and still flying them for a company in India where I live now
My dream is to be a cpt of a TBM 900 or a PC-12...so awesome you got to fly in that plane!!
There's a PC-12 that goes right over my house a few times a week. I've been watching it for years. King Air for you it is!
Luis Halabi with Blackhawk and Raisbeck upgrades yeah baby!
You need to look up the in-flight shutdown rate of the PT6 models in those two planes; it's several lifetimes!
the process for flying a single over water isnt too daunting, i think you just have to have a life raft on board.
I'm currently
looking at a gig flying Pilatus so I appreciate

Hahaha....I love JP's shout out of our wee ferry trip to the Island (Porter).....lol
Nice... a flight between two of my favorite airports. I used to do CYTZ to Burke Lakefront when taking friends out for a weekend getaway to the RnR Hall of Fame.
Awesome! I took a Pilatus into Billy Bishop once. It's one of my favorites. But St. Barth's is the coolest place to take one.
kiss the hillside with your landing gear whydontcha?
its been my childhood dream...how i wish could one day fly this aircraft, thanks Flight chops
The PC-12 is an amazing plane
I love the PC12, I think the range of Pilatus look to be superb aircraft. That one was fitted out really nicely a great all rounder.
Watching the way those larger complex types are flown always fascinates me. - and how true, no one can ever know it all, we are all ignorant to something.
I was watching out for UFO's on lake Erie......a predetermined en-route hazard?! LOL!
Thanks for posting this video - keep up the good work!
Christmas is fast approaching, and a gift certificate from Sporty's would be a nice gift, eh?
Awesome views over the city on departure, perfect. Point on flow scan, we use a Flow Scan at our club, so easy to remember all the little stuff before pulling out the checklist for Runups etc. Thanks for another great video :)
Now that ATC sounds clear & precise!
In Sporty's courses now! Great school and great people.
Summer+Billy Bishop airport+FlightChops: I'm getting flashbacks
Right?! Hey man - what say you make a trip to Windsor one of these days to fly some warbirds with us? Let's talk about how that could work. I am going to be there Several weekends this summer... Maybe make a date night weekend out of it for you and your lady?
That sounds awesome!!! Let's talk!
I’m actually from Batavia (Home airport is I69) and trust me sporty’s is the go to place for all of Cincinnati or northern Kentucky
Love the videos Steve! Stevokinevo just used that bose system in a sr22. Anyhow have a good day from the YGK
I love the PC-12 it looks great and runs great
Great video. Joined your channel just recently and watched so many great videos. I'm inspired to get back into flying after a 15 year lay-off due to family and work. Got my PPL & Multi endorsement back in 2002. Thanks to you and TFP I'm going to get back in the seat!

Man I wanted to see a pilatus pc12 in such detailed video since a long time.Thank you so much Steve! Amazing video as always..keep your flight chops sharp! Cheers!
I love your channel and this is my favorite plane. Have intentions of purchasing a used one by Spring 2019. Such a great video and editing!
I went to Toronto back in 1999, I had no idea there was an airport there until I went up in the CN Tower. The funny thing is that there were no takeoffs or landings for the whole 30 minutes or so I was in the tower. I was very disappointed.

excellent description of instrument flight. We recently returned from Oshkosh-excellent
Love love love the PC-12.
Same here! Great aircraft.
I was awesome meeting you! I’m going my flight training at Sporty’s mostly in 32GV and it was fun seeing that in the video
I like to check out the airports Chops is flying in to and out of on Google Maps and the satellite view. There's a B-17 (probably a G) at Cleveland!
Hey I've been in your seat a few times! 3 really close friends of mine are all pc12 captains. Thx for the video.
Great video! We are based in the Cleveland area and fly out of Burke all the time. Let us know next time you're flying in, we'd love to take you on one of our flying adventures!
Love pilots that actually use checklist in their videos. Too many do not.
I just started an online course from Sportys! Awesome video!
Love the turbo props! Been in a otter with a stol and turbo prop a few times amazing piece of of equipment!
Get to fuel PC-12’s on the occasion at my FBO and every time I see it I’m in amazement.
I was in a PC 12 yesterday!
I LOVE the PC-12 NG. Pilatus came out with the PC-24 (but its not that great). A close competitor I would also consider is the TBM.
K F yup but much smaller. Faster but no toilet! I’d take the pc12 I think!
I only know the PC12 from the sim, but it's definitely one of my favorite to fly :-)
awesome video!!! What a great ride and with a VERY competent pilot that REALLY knows his airplane!!!
Nice vid! tI seems like that first video was yesterday! I've seen warbirds, twins, turboprops, and jets on FlightChops channel.
May I offer some suggestions for future topics:
- Northern Territories
- Eastern Canada (Halifax/NB/Nova Scotia)
- STARS/Medi-Flight
Thanks and Keep 'm coming!

Thank you for posting this video.........great video if you want to learn about flying ..........I love the Pilatus PC-12 !!!
Congratulations Steve! This episode really made me feel happy for you.
Fantastic. Love the PC12.
Love PC-12 ❤️ finnally some cool vid with this beutifull machine 😍😎
thanks for the link Chopper, not sure how...? but i totally missed this PC12 video. i'll try to do better in the future.
Oh no I'm disappointed I missed you! Clermont County is my home airport
Could always use a checklist to be sure all is covered!!
Nice vid, stop by next time to see me upstairs at the Porter FBO
i know this is video is 2 years old but i kinda want to see you fly in the pilatus PC 24 the first pilatus business jet. there able to land on grass and gravel fields to what i know about them that make in interesting video.
3 legs
So is the “flight stream”thing you keep talking about just between garmin and foreflight?
A perfect aircraft to enjoy flying
Great video as always. My mind was speaking to me as I was watching you travel to Sporty's, Wow! what a great experience and all in all the amazing things you have gotten to do are so Majestic to an aviator. You are a lucky guy. Then I said, well that is all due to your hard work congratulations to all that has come your way. And Thank you for sharing it.
It's not the shortest ferry crossing in the world. The Woolwich Free Ferry in Woolwich, London is much shorter than that. Just a couple of hundred yards. (5 Minutes)
