    Yaaaaaay!
FINALLY a video from you I found totally perfect!!
I can't stop watching your broadcasts.... but I swear I want to scream sometimes.
You're obviously educated and humble and offer so much with your free submissions. And then there's the amount of time you put in!!
But man!! Some of us out here are educated, too. And when it takes 20 minutes to find out i didn't learn anything.... OMG!!!
I know you can't please everybody, and I'm not asking you to change for me.
Mostly I just want to say:
Quality all the way on this one!!
Educational AND succinct. A true gem!
No more mumbling, "yeah I watch Blue Ridge..." like I'm embarrassed!
Now I'll be all "Did you check out his black beauty broadcast?"
"You think black beauties are only found on Etsy?"
"Check out my boy Sean over here. He'll get you straightened out..."
    NAILED IT!!!
And you offered something nobody else did.
    Exceptional man. Exceptional.
Thank you. I REALLY desired something like this from you.

Also as a person that has made wire from precious metals most have never heard of, a lot of times depending on the process a liquid graphite Lubricant is used (and its jet black) to reduce a peice of metal , say from 12mm down to 10mm , its basically reapplied every 2mm reduction as well. The reason for the Black beauties could be caused by the graphite lube not being properly cleaned off. If left on before the annealing process it will bake in to the surface. Hope this helped .

I like the fact that you are passionate about coins. I have learned a lot from the content you produce. I made my livelihood working with metals and metallurgy is an important concept someone working with metals relies on consistently. All atoms are moving all the time. Annealing unlike welding doesn't completely break the metal down to its molten state like a weld puddle rather it is maintaining a specified temperature for a specified time and allowing the atoms to slowly return under controlled conditions to its normal state. I have a nickle that appears like half of it has been hot and the rest remained cool. The only possible way to achieve the effect on it in my learned opinion would be that part of it was exposed to heat while the rest of it remained in water thus the half gold tint half nickle color it displays. No I haven't had it graded lol its just a nickle I'm keeping only because it is different.
Thanks Bud for putting your knowledge out there on the coins.

Thank you Blueridge! I pretty much figured out the war time nickle I have is not a black beauty, however... it made me look through my stash and I found a '78 and a '71 that appear black, a '72 that was brown, an '84 that appears brown on the rear, and several transition nickles I think. I just came back to listen again to check on those. Anyway, THANK YOU!!!

I will keep them for ever. I don't even know if they are worth any money but I don't care he has a lot of other coins & have a lot of value but for me they will be memories & thats it. They are so BEAUTIFUL & smooth you can tell if is a damaged coin or if is the black beauty my uncle teach me.

Homogeneous metals can have delamination errors. When the strips are rolled out they can have pieces start to flake off, which can be seen on the finished coins.

I was "playing" with a gasoline fueled blow torch in the late 60s. I heated many coins as a mere child. Mostly pennies and nickels. Most of them, I put back into circulation. IDK how many children there are that "play" (Lol!) with blow torches these days, but I suspect a few!

I just stumbled into a 2006 "D" Jefferson nickel. Yes, Your absolutely correct. When you look at it. It looks amazing. The first image that popped up, to kind of describe its beauty. It's a clip from the movie Twilight. When Edward Expose himself to the sun. That's how my black beauty looks 😍.....
