June 6th 2020 message. If I could show photos here I would. This weekend I opened a 59P roll of Jefferson's and about 12 to 14 nickels are black beauties on Uncirculated nickels. The toning is remarkable! When compared with the 59D roll I opened also.....all the 59 Philly's have a Gunpowder grey tone on all of them.
Question is....what do I do with these?

Before this moment if I came across a nickel that looked like the Black Beauty I would've pitched it in my change container thinking it was just a dirty nickel or one someone spilled soda on! Ugh!! The good thing is I have saved all of my change, so now I need to look closer at ALL my coins for all the things I've been learning!

I have a 1941 Black with no mint mark Nickel where all the fields are really black and only the high spots of the coin have wore back to the shade of a regular nickel. I also have a 1947-D Nickel that is Black especially in the fields of the coin and wore back to a little shine on the high spots kinda like the 1941 I mentioned. They look good to be so old with as many miles on them as they have. I've had them about 10 years and thinking about salling them. I just don't know if I should have them graded or not. What do you - y'all think.

Hey J B, I watched the video about the Black Beauty nickel you have and I do have a 1959 nickel that has the gun metal look with some tone color to it in a two by two marked Brilliant Uncirculated that I have had for the past 20 -25 years it has full steps but Mark is on them that was there before the coin was punched. I seen other videos about the grading of full steps saying because of the year and time's the mark may not affect the grade , do you agree with that thanks Richard

Hi J & B, Hi have recently been watching your video's and this one struck a couple questions. Last night while searching coin rolls from the bank, I came across a (I think a 2018 ovb. and rev doubled Die) however I noticed it looks really good to the naked eye but a little dark, both sides, I then compared it to another 2018 under the microscope and it looks old even though it seems to have little wear. Could this be a black beauty?

I found a 2006 P dime that presents like a "black beauty" nickel. Gorgeous blue/black even over the entire coin with clean , lustrous fields. (Mine also has a small obverse misalignment to k7)
Is your reeded edge off looking? Mine looks like it's 96% copper core with a silvery black bar on top and bottom - these are even and look nothing like any edge examples of CuNi clad dimes.
    2.249 grams on calibrated scale
17.8 mm diameter with digital caliper
1.2 mm thick with digital caliper
My thought is that the punched core wasn't scoured before bonding with the nickel. If oxidation happened in the annealing oven, it could turn them black Or the binding went right, but the heat of the annealing oven caused the copper molecules to migrate to the surface. This could explain why there is a silvery surface under the black-seen at highest points of hair and anywhere there may be a contact mark.
What do you think? Please let me know!

I have a 1958 Black beauty. But I'm not sure if it's the real thing. Because this one has what looks like copper in some spots on the reverse. So would a real BB be completely black with no other metal showing? Or could it be wearing off here and there? If it weren't for the copper color and a couple scratches showing through, I would have full steps... just a beautiful nickel. Especially for a 1958 .

Yes I have 2 of them in high grade no steps 1954, 1955. I also have two coins I'm going to send in for grading 1942 D it's rpm D over horizontal D/D FS#-027 the harder one to find it's just perfect and should easily grade higher that the highest graded MS-66+ FS much higher. The other is 1984D with full steps that too is flawless in the highest grade I think it will beat the top graded coin too. I would of attached pictures but I can't do it on this form. I have loved your videos there well made and great for educational purposes. Keep them coming!!

I have some.... also I have copper in nickel, couple dimes, and a couple quarters. I mainly only collected errors since the big spike up in silver and gold last decade. That pretty much made a lot of unwanted coins very wanted afterwards cause they all got melted. That's what ruined my main desire for silver and gold coins because now they just float around precious metals now.... so I went to errors!

Yes I have a 2000 P gun metal nickle and on reverse it has other letters not associated with the 5 cent nickle plus on the ring reverse at the bottom of the OF in OF AMERICA you can see the letters of B A N K well that's what I think it is and also letters and numbers visible on the obverse of nickle

I think that i have a 1961 black beauty nickel. It's not in the best condition but if by chance it is one, is there any way that you can tell me what it might be worth. Thank You,l,
    Gilbert Aguirre.

I have a 1986 D quarter that is black. It's not rusted or corroded...it's in very good shape but black. Would that be considered a black beauty?

I have a 1968 D that looks like the one at 5:50. Looks like it's made that way but can't find anything about it. I'm gonna throw it in my coin box for the future I guess

I have a 1974 Black Beauty nickel. It’s very dark. It’s very cool looking. Whom or who could I share pictures with?

What would black nickel 1996 P and black Bicentennial Quarter be worth, both well circulated. Would it be worth sending for grading?

I have many of them but I don’t get it just cause they got full of steps. They should be worth something if they don’t have full steps if they’re in decent condition, everybody videos something this nice and neat and all that but come on there’s more coins in this world, this worth more money than what the people lead on to be.

I have a 2000 black jefferson nickel. I kept it because I thought it was cool looking. I did not realize it was a real mistake until now. I thought it was just beat up.
