This is a true gospel singer who lived what he sings!
Beautifull and wonderfull hymn!
I could listen all day to George Beverly Shea singing his wonderful hymns!
I worked on his fireplace in 1984. He was the kindest, simplest man I ever met.
That is the most wonderful way anyone can be remembered it says so much
Its amazing that he still sounded just as great with deep passion and stealth right up till his death this month. God blessed us with this man's voice
I had the honor of meeting Rev. Shea in the 1970's. My twin brother, Boyd and I were doing crusades with Rev. Jim Wilson who was the son of T.W. Wilson, the vice president of The Billy Graham Assoc. We also did a crusade with Cliff Barrows in Atlanta. Until that crusade, I was not aware that Cliff was a preacher as well as a musician. It was such a blessing to work with Cliff and to see him in a different role than usual. Boyd and I performed our original music each night just before Cliff preached. During the 35 years we toured North America and parts of Europe and the Middle East we did crusades on occasion with different Evangelist associated with the Billy Graham Assoc. Our ministry was for the local church, colleges and universities, the US Army and many prisons and TV ministries. Sorry that I have gotten off on a tangent, Rev Shea was so kind to my twin and I. He encouraged us to stay pure and be in the word daily. Most importantly he prayed for God to be first in our ministry and to be guided by the Holy Spirit as to where our ministry would lead us. God answered his prayer. Even though we never did sign with the major Record labels, God opened the doors for us to be full time in our ministry for 35 years and to touch the lives of folks that would not normally go to the big auditoriums to hear contemporary Christian concerts. - FLOYD AMASON

A life well lived George!!! Thank you for your Godly example. May Heaven be all you hoped it would be
I remember forming my relationship with the Lord back in 1953, when I was surrounded with music just like this... George Beverly Shea, and his connection with Billy Graham Crusades. The Wonder of it ALL. So very true!
My mother loved this man and always listened to his songs. Even though at that time I didn’t know the lord, but his songs sure got to me. Bless his soul.

Wonderful
Happy 102nd Birthday George!!!
102 years of age as of last week. Congratulations!
Happy 100th birthday, Bev Shea. From a neighbor of yours in Asheville who gloried in your voice and the hymn and anthems you sang during those Billy Graham Crusades I attended in the '50's and on your LPs, all of which I gave to my brother.Sometimes I wave your way when I drive through the stone gate at the entrance to the Town of Montreat And my wife and I have a friend who is a neighbor of yours, and who says you are just the dearest man. That doesn't surprise me a bit. God bless you!
What a great man!!!
This hymn has brought back memories of the Billy Graham Crusade way back in the '50's and hearing Bev Shea singing with Cliff Barrows (Conducting) & Paul (I've forgotten his surname) who played on the keyboard and how thrilling it was to hear not only this hymn but many more and after Billy finished given the message it was the "Just as I am" hymn was the final one sang
Yes I remembered Paul's surname it was Smith - I went to the Wembley and Harringay during the Billy Graham Meetings when they were held. A moving experience and those memories I still treasure.
The wonder indeed.
I just checked and the book mentioned in this clip was released on March 23, 2004. That means that George was at least 95 years old when this clip was originally recorded. Absolutely amazing accomplishment to be able to sing at all at his age and to sing with such strength and conviction... Wow!
What an inspiration.
Thanks for sharing
Happy 100th birthday Mr. Shea.
