This makes tears come to my eyes - besides loving the song and becoming now aware that the tune comes from George Beverly Shea, it reminds me of when I came to Christ 52 years ago in Melbourne Australia at the Sydney Myer Music Bowl and I came down to the front to accept Jesus as my Lord. Billy Graham had preached and George Beverly Shea was singing.
I am Australian & I remember very clearly as a young girl hearing Beveley Shea sing this beautiful song.. although I was a Christian, I made up my mind then that whatever came my way, I would rather follow Jesus than anything else. Now @ 81 yrs I can truely say Jesus has never failed me, He has helped & guided my family & I through some tough times...what a wonderful Saviour..🙏🙏

I just read he was offered fame and fortune, but he'd have to sing secular music. He turned it down to stay in ministry. He worked with Billy Graham for 60 years.
Jesus told us not to focus on His return. The only end of the world you need to be ready for is the one that will occur at your death. If Jesus' words in Matthew 24 and 25 can be taken at face value, He will expect an accounting of what you did to help those less fortunate than you.

His sincerity and love for Christ was so evident! He was over 100 years old when God called him home!!! What a rich and deep life of service to the Lord!!!
