Very nice, i have a question on this if you wouldn't mind helping, is it worth doing this without doing the soldering for brightness control? Also if my screen is busted would that affect my motherboard?

Yes- honestly I dont change the brightness much if at all. The only benefit would be if you play at night in the dark, and then want to go play it outside in the bright sun. Depending on the screen damage you mentioned, you could have a motherboard issue. Most likely though, the board is fine.
