Whats a gmo?
Genetically Modified Organisms.
Genetically Modified Organism, a boogeyman to a lot of enviromental activists. What is and isn't a GMO is a matter of technicality, most, if not all, types of produce are technically GMO's, since we've purposefully and selectivly breed them, thus altering their genetics, to make them more resilient to disease, poor weather conditions and most importantly: to be more suitable as a food crop. but what most people mean when they refer to GMO's is the "lab altered" crops, and some people see that as wrong and/or dangerous. greenpeace is one of the strongest opponents to GMO's. But GMO's are not dangerous. in fact they could be life saving, one good example is golden rice, a type of rice that produces beta-carotene, a precursor to vitamin-A, which would greatly help in preventing Vitamin-A deficiency primarily in children in the poorer regions of south east asia, where white rice is a dietary mainstaple, but greenpeace campaigned greatly against it which has most likely resulted in hundreds of unnecessary deaths and large amounts of suffering. but hey, Genetic engineering sounds scary so I guess that doesn't matter. But don't just trust some random guy on the internet, do some proper research, read some actual scientific reports and studies on the subject, and form your own opinion.
