"Why does Skyrim have such boring NPCs?"
I felt that. Oblivion is always going to be my jam because the NPCs had so much more personality.
Yeah man. Skyrim has nothing like Grandpa Sheo. The only character that can hope to match him is Sheogorath as we meet him in skyrim
@@bloodangel19 Except...he doesn't. He's watered down in Skyrim. The only NPCs that seem to hold a candle are Lucien Lachance's ghost and Cicero. Oh, and Ulfric Stormcloak with his commanding speeches in an epic voice. But the rest of them are...meh. Even the dragons leave a lot to be desired.
Is it just me or do all races in Skyrim kind blend together?
@@MiotaLee Not just you. I can't tell the eleven races apart, the human races apart and the beast races lost their tails. The Argonians -- all 4 or 5 of them -- are all plain green instead of the beautiful colorful graphics they did of of their faces in Oblivion. No npc is funny. Not even "cloud district" guy who is only cited as funny for lack remotely of anyone else. Then there is Ulfric the Prick. A wannabe despot building a personality cult that is trying to stage a coup and overthrown the legit government of a diverse and multicultural land with his storm troopers, err "cloaks" while using racist and fake religious propaganda to deceive and manipulate the gullible. Now where have I seen that guy in real life the last few years, hmmm. Skyrim npc's suck at so many levels.

Side note. The mystic dawn hair/beard combo is a slick improvement. Mehrunes would be proud.

As silly Oblivion is, their NPCs makes the game feel alive when they have those random conversations.
And also cause they have distinct personalities.
The Adoring Fan is the best cause he makes me feel appreciated and he's an extremely useful and powerful follower.

He's so brave, too. Charges towards the enemy by himself in order to protect you.
I also like when he exchanges his knowledge of the world with other NPCs.
My personal favorite: “Oh my yes, I feel especially delighted this evening! Perhaps it is time I recited my latest soliloquy. Ahem. The lady fair, our love is told. With hair as fine as soft-spun gold. Lips as red as a sun-drenched dawn, skin as soft as a newborn fawn. Eyes as blue as a cerulean sea...uhh...what... ...my heart...can't breathe...help me..."
The voice actor who did the Bosmers in oblivion were just perfect
Craig Sechler is his name. He's a really cool guy. He's really good with responding to my e-mails when I have a question about what characters he voiced in Oblivion and Fallout 3, and when I want to share some funny Elder Scrolls and Fallout videos with him.

On Skyrim's 10th anniversary the Cantina returns to roast Skyrim's npcs. Good to have you back.
Ps: Skyrim has Bosmer? You can't tell because every human and elf race looks the same in that game.
I'd like it if the bosmer were actually made cartoonishly short. Not too short though, don't want to confuse them with dwemer

Do they now? Idk mate, Altmer and Dunmer look pretty different to me. Even Bosmer have a distinctive look. All mer have a bit of an alien vibe in that game. Now if you've installed mods on the other hand...
@@user-et8vm9cc3t In the older games it was far more noticeable. Now don't get me started on the beast races losing their uniqueness. They did at least bring some of that back in ESO.
more elder scrolls tier list recommendations: deadra, gods, argonians, kahjiit, altmer, cities, provinces
I like the Argonians in Oblivion and I hate lizards in real life. But the Oblivion ones had so much personality unlike their cousins in Morrowind and the very few of them who were the dregs of boredom in Skyrim. Actually pretty much every Skyrim npc is boring as hell. But the female Argonians in Oblivion were so sweet "the best daughter a mother could have" and Bravil's Mages Guild head worried about her friend caught in the dreamworld and the one in Cheydenhal's who tries to save you from getting drown in the well. And all have that lovely 20 packs a day raspy voice. The males are well done too from Amusei the Inept to Big Head. Much better voice acting than the boring Skyrim ones. Yeah I rank them second in both quirkiness and personality to the Bosmers.
I like the Khajiit too and unlike the lizards I love cats in real life. But the Khajiit were a bit more interesting in Morrowind as a whole -- the flirty female one especially -- than in Oblivion alas. Except Ma'niq (spelling?) and the cat that loves dogs in the Shivering Isles.
And again they were off to the side as outcast wandering traders in Skyrim. You stupid Skyrim thieves guild do you not know Khajiit, Bosmer and Argonian types make the best thieves yet all I see in the damn dark cistern are mainly bearded male humans all clad in their same little leather armor "uniforms" and boring like hell with their sad tales that never get finished but they just repeat the same damn half story every time word for word. God the more I played Skyrim the more I couldn't stand it. What a boring, dreary place. Dementia in the Shivering Isles was a much happier place than anywhere in Skyrim. (Too much caffeine leads to too many words).
Adoring Fan spawns with 3 or 4 gold each time, technically an infinite money generator if you hate yourself enough

It's quite surprising how few bosmer there are in Skyrim. Also, the hair + costume combo looks great on you!

For those unaware, he got so angry he would attack the on sight every time and promptly get knocked down by the guard. But every time he would still brandish his giant sword and instantly attack you

Love it. One of your very best videos ever. This is one great way to avoid burnout. LISTS! "Lists" videos you have made have always been excellent and fun. And adding the Mythic Dawn recruitment character was genius. More races ones please. And adjective ones like you have done in the past like top ten lists of arrogant (lots of Altmer on that one) and top ten dumbest and most inept and flirty and evil npc's etc etc. And recruiters for the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood etc.

The number of Bosmer that I thought were Altmer really shows you that they didn’t do a good enough job differentiating the species in Skyrim

On a side note I love Brunewolf. This guy is a former warrior who sees the horrors and wrongs of the great war including how it lead to the rebelion and the rise of the Thalmor. He also stands up for both dark elves and argonians, and even hires the Player to take out a bandit gang that have been attacking then Ulric has ignored (You know like what a Jarl should do.) And if the empire wins he becomes the new Jarl of winter hold. Despite all of this he has no hate towards the racist birds and apparently is dating Elda despite her being a Dark Elf racist

I'll join the Mythic Dawn if I get a free sweetroll. If not, a honey nut treat will work just fine. It's kind of sad that people never really got the chance to side with the Mythic Dawn, it would be interesting to see the end game result. I guess the devs want to make sure the elder scrolls lore remains linear, it's easier that way.
